Smoky Old Fashion. It's Makers Mark but they burn a cedar wood then put the glass over it to trap the smoke from it for a couple of minutes then pour in the Makers Mark miss right away to infuse the smoke into the whiskey. It actually gives it smoky sweetness. You can taste the difference. I give it a big thumbs up. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Awesome story!

btw, once I was flying it and a hawk took interest to it. Kept circling my drone. I decided to pack it in because I was afraid the hawk was going to attack it.

I have one and there is so much legal obstacles that it's a pain in the neck. Instead of looking for where you can't fly it, you spend more time looking for where you can fly it. If you enter certain fly zones, you have to call the traffic controller ahead of time to ask for permission to fly, etc. The tiny cameras on these things have poor zoom so it's not like you can spot much on the ground. Add in the tree canopy and you can forget spotting any game animal with it. I could see if you fly it over a large corn field to see if they're bedded in there and what routes they're taking but you could do that with google maps and a little bit of leg work as well.

I don't know much about binoculars but I do know that you should probably charge your phone.

There's very little meat back there but to me, it's actually the tastiest. I cook up the whole back and then peel off the "backstrap" and eat them like string cheese.

I once had the pleasure of having a small conversation with Steve Rinella and he told me he would trap squirrels in his backyard (this was when he lived in Brooklyn) and eat them. I asked him if he was worried about city squirrels since they're not like wood squirrels and he said he wasn't because you should really look at what they eat. They maybe scurrying around trash cans and what not but they're not really eating trash. Maybe the occasional pop corn or something. I tested this out. I tossed some of my morning muffin at a city squirrel once. It sniffed it and left it alone.

I second culvercreek. I never put much thought into it. I throw them whole into a bag and then usually gut/skin with I have a break. If the hunting is good, I'll save them up and do a bunch at once at the end of the day. Once rigor mortis sets in, skinning is a bitch.

I hear the Monday after the superbowl, the second best team's hats are on sale for dirt cheap.

Again...Hatton was the only fight I considered legit. All the others, he didn't fight until they lost a couple of times. He fought Oscar at the very end of Oscars career. I believe Oscar only fought a couple of more times after that and retired. He was not the same Oscar. Mayweather never took on a fight and then figured out how to beat his opponent. He first figured out if his opponent was beatable and if he had the right game plan before he would accept a fight. Makes me think of the story of Ted Williams the last player to hit 400 for a season. On the second to last day of the season, he was sitting right at 400 and the Red Sox had the season all wrapped up. The last day was a meaningless double header. The manager wanted to sit him so he can finish the year at 400. Ted Williams insisted on playing. He went 4 for 5 in game one and 2 for 3 in game two to finish 406 for the season. That to me is a true record holder. The fact that Manny Pacquiao was challenging Mayweather to a fight for 8 or 9 years and Mayweather refused to accept tells me all I need to know about Mayweather. It wasn't until Pacquiao took a couple of loses and clearly wasn't the same anymore before Mayweather finally accepted the fight.

To put things into perspective, Muhammad Ali beat George Foreman when George Foreman was 25 years old and at the time of the fight, George Foreman was 40-0. Smokin' Joe Frazier is considered one of the greatest even though he had 4 loses because his 4 loses were all to Ali (twice), and Foreman (twice) and that's it. This is why boxing has gone downhill. Back then, the great ones never ran from each other. Instead, they measured themselves by fighting each other. Now a days, the so called best fighter in boxing avoids fights until his opponents are old or after that had already taken a lost so he could study how to beat them. Maybe now that Mayweather retires boxing can be saved when the next star rises and he doesn't cherry pick is matches.

Which great fighter has he fought that was in their prime at the time of the fight?
-
Totally agree. I really think a Manny Pac would have dropped him at least 1 out of 3 but more like 2 out of 3 if they went at it in their primes the way Ali and Frasier went at it in their primes. Ali never avoided a fight. Mayweather is a more technical fighter so his skills don't fade as much over time as someone like Manny who relied more on speed and power.

2017 live from the lake , ocean , pond , stream, river thread
Elmo replied to turkeyfeathers's topic in Fishing
So Logan broke his kiddie fishing rod so I put him on mine. I also couldn't get the spot I felt was ideal for him so we carried him out to a rock out on the water. I casts and whenever I got a bite, I would hand the rod over to him. He had a lot of fun. Hopefully the video shows up so you can see. But then once he discovered tiny crabs under rocks, that caught his attention for the rest of the day. Such is the wandering mind of a 3 year old. A big special thanks to those who helped me along the way...especially @greybeard. Video Aug 27.mov
