OP has been challenged.

Yes, but the argument is that she's supposedly hot. Biz can't verify that from a blurred picture.
-
Convince her? Does she check this forum? If not then she won't ever know.
-
As you can see...blurred out faces are not sufficient.

Welcome back grampy. Glad you're doing well.

Happy birthday fellas!

I think most people are responding because she's been a bit more specific with her questions and has shown to put in an effort on her own part. The being specific with her questions, at least for me, is why I'm more willing to answer her questions. As oppose to some of the other intro's that are like "Hi all...I'm new to hunting. Show me how, please." I mean for that, where do you even begin?

There are two kinds of hunters. Those who spend tons of money on scent control and they're successful hunters. And there are those who smoke a cigar in their stands and are successful hunters too. Both of them swear to you they're right. Here's my train of thought. Even if the scent control can block out 99.9% of your odor, a deer can still sniff the 0.1% anyway so even if you use scent control, you still have to rely on the wind. Also, the reason I ask where you're located is because deer adjust to their environment. People who hunt out west where there's millions of acres, a little sniff of a human and the deer is gone. Near NYC, a little sniff of a human and the deer has to figure out if you're there or if you're in the car driving by the highway. Personally, I think the biggest reason you're probably not seeing deer is because it's later into the season now. When I scout in late summer/early fall, I see deer all the time. Keep in mind, I only hunt public lands. But as the season gets later and later, the frequency and amount I see become smaller and smaller as the deer starts to adjust to the orange army that tramples through their home. One of the adjustments is the deer becomes nocturnal. Note: I have an untested theory that against popular belief the deer don't actually become nocturnal, nocturnal becomes them. In other word, the deer who cross the path at 6:45AM. In September, that's day light. In November, it's dark. But the deer was still crossing at 6:45AM. Again, just a theory of mine that I always wanted to see if it's true.

Deer's nose are super powerful so they'll pick up the slightest scent in the wind. The best way to sneak up on a deer is to have the wind blow your scent the other way. That's what they mean by play the wind. No matter how much scent control you try, you'll never block it 100% like the wind will. Also understand wind acts differently when it hits certain areas, change during the day due to temperature change, etc. But also keep in mind that the bulk of a deer's activity is done during the night so you might see signs, the deer might be making those signs at 4AM. Try to get there as hide while its still dark. The deer might be passing by right when the sun comes up. It's like they partied too hard and then they do the walk of shame once they see the sun come up. See area views of the land. Locate food area, possible bedding area, and water sources. Deer tends to be lazy and take the easiest route. Though climbing and jumping are super easy for them, they tend to avoid it if they can. You have to think like a deer. Think also how you as a deer would react once people start shooting at them. Early in the season they're more in their natural patterns. Later in the season, they're going to adjust based on hunter activities.

Fresh Tracks with Randy Newberg is refreshing in that way. He only hunts public land in that show and you see him strike out some times.

welcome aboard.

Welcome to hunting and the forum. Hunting is a lot of patience and a lot of "falling down". Also, this time of the year, hunting has been in full swing for some time now. The deer at this point has been under a lot of pressure and are super skittish. The fact that you're even seeing squirrels is a good thing. Also helps if we knew what region you're near.

What Could or Possibly Also May Be in your Hunting Area

So this one time, Shaq went to a fur coat convention. During the convention, he really needed to go to the bathroom but the lines were long. He figured, he can just sneak out back and go in the woods. He really needed to go bad so he rushed out, forgot to duck, and ended up hitting his head on the top of the door way. This caused him to stumble out into the woods, staggering, and moaning.."aarrrrrrrr...." Two local kids were out jigging frogs on the other side of the creek that night and one of them happen to have his grandpa's old film camera with him. The rest is history.
