I was going to mention that also. There are a lot of females getting into hunting and I am quite pleased to see it. If my granddaughter lived closer I would have her out there too!
-
I am impressed by the bucks taken so far also. The youth hunt photos are great too. Lot of happy kids there!! Great website and Facebook feed

hunting without a truck how do you transport your deer

My buddy brought my bow buck back to the house in his pickup but I had no way to get him to the butcher later in the day... so put it in the cobalt trunk with the tractor! It did not fit in the trunk very well... -
Happy Birthday!

nice shot! Thats a big ole hole for sure

My only issue was that I could have used an extra layer... was cold the first two hours. There was ice on the gate when I let myself into the property. Ill keep a tote with extra clothes in the truck from now on.

Got into the stand before light... grunting a little bit. Had one little guy grunt back but never saw him... 8 am sharp farm tractor enters neighboring property collecting firewood. Two guys yelling at a loose dog all day and chainsaws running. Bummer!

This is a great thread!! Keep up the good work!

I called in a mature 10 pt two seasons ago, mid October... couldn't get him in close enough for a good shot. He was definitely more cautious than a 2/12 YO
-
I also use the extinguisher. Can't say enough good about it. They really do work. The Primos brand call isn't bad either, I have called in bucks with both.

Please feel free to share your meatball recipe... I have some ground left over....

Yes indeed... the deer should be moving Sunday morning! Things are looking good!

Calling is the way to go for sure. I have grunted many in during early October. Does may come in to a fawn in distress call too. I called one in this way last season, third week of October. My 8PT was grunted in first week of October. Both were delicious!

Jeeze... If I break 100 I'm having a good round! -
I hunted ASP quite a bit some 20 years back and really enjoyed the experience... with one exception... I've had shots fired so near me that I know what a slug whizzing by my ear sounds like. Folks would do this to let you know you were too close to their spot. I also watched a drunk (could barely walk) enter the woods shotgun in hand. Lesson learned... go in at least 1.5 miles. Beautiful place to hunt... just stay far from the crowd

Hi Folks... I am going to Carlton Hill state land this weekend to scout and squirrel hunt. Has anyone here ever been there before and if so any advice as to hunting this place? I live not very far from there and I am looking for a place to bow hunt after work. I like going out after work (3:30 PM) mid-week so I can avoid other folks. How much pressure is on this place during bow season? Thanks!
