Great discipline by Zach! He did well to listen to your teachings and apply them when it counted. I'm sure he will connect before the season is over. Quick question, was he able to use the blind logs as a shooting rail or was he shooting offhand?- 10374 replies

DOT can fail a vehicle for a wide variety of reasons, but that doesn't mean the vehicle wasn't subsequently repaired and passed. Jesus, if they knowingly scraped off a failure sticker and put a non-DOT licensed driver without a current medical card behind the wheel, then I hope those people all go to prison for manslaughter. https://www.news10.com/news/local-news/limo-in-deadly-crash-had-failed-inspection-driver-did-not-have-proper-license-says-gov-cuomo/1507355307?utm_medium=social&utm_source=facebook_WTEN

How much range time do you have with the 4 lb shotty? All that 12ga slug recoil has to go somewhere and I can't imagine that experience is too pleasant. Good luck on your hunt.

Storm, Buckmaster is like the E.F. Hutton of hunting ADK big bucks. If he's sharing tips, you should listen.

Jesus, that never should have happened. There are many different factors that could have caused this limo accident. We'll have to wait for the NTSB to do their investigation.

Once upon a time, I was the GM for a large limo company in Albany. This is exactly the sort of thing that kept me up at night. Just devastating. https://www.news10.com/news/local-news/nysp-20-killed-in-crash-involving-a-limo-on-route-30-in-schoharie/1503474786

Sure, that works. No reason you couldn't fire an old fp into a target when you get home either. Storm's idea looks good too. Dealers choice.

I use a jacked up bolt with field point and fire into a block target or a rolled up piece of foam. Not a big deal.

Scoped, cocked and shoulder-fired weapon that can potentially hit a deer with more kinetic energy than a bow. Many models on the market now that can fire a bolt >400 fps. On paper, there are advantages, but the individual hunter's skills will always be the deciding factor. You might hate the xbow or love it.

You can buy rope by the foot from a store like EMS or REI. The primary static line will cost around $1/ft and 30' should suffice. The smaller diameter rope used for the prussik knot might run you another $3-$4. For the reasons Nomad stated and then some, the benefits far outweigh the cost.

I do the exact same. Sometimes I'll get a funny look from others filling up when the horn beeps, but don't care. There are too many surveillance videos of thieves sneaking open the passenger side door to steal a purse, cell phone, etc. You certainly do not want to leave a firearm unsecured and in plain sight. That said, I hope the felonious scumbag is caught and justice served.
