  1. Something like this (pardon my horrible photoshop skills)
  2. Id really like if they offered the Tactical Gray frame with the silver slide like on the bi-tone. The FDE model is pretty nice looking as well.
  3. Love that Bi-Tone! Thats what I want for the 9 Im buying.
  4. Im hoping that we get enough snow melt to get out back and pull the cards from the cams I have out. I did see a nice buck up by our pond about a month ago, havent seen an antler since then though.
  5. You know you want to stand right next to that muzzle break under a steel roof
  6. I always try to fly Southwest. Only time I dont is if they dont service where I need to go. I usually fly out of Rochester, but I know they have a ton of flights out of Buffalo as well. Havent flown into Ft. Meyers, but have had to catch connections in Orlando a time or two, so I know they fly there. Rentals, I use Enterprise or National, but thats due to a contract we have with them through work. Only ever had 1 issue with them, and it was a screw up on our corporate account. They upgraded me from an economy to a full size and included a tank of gas at no charge for the hassle. Im part of their VIP club or whatever its called, so now I get to get off the plane, pick whatever car I want, and go. Keys are already in the cars, no need to even talk to anyone. Its pretty darn nice.
  7. Awesome, thank you! I have a bunch of once fired 308 brass that I should be able to neck down to 7-08. Do I need to get any specific brand dies? BTW, I still have a big box of brass for you that Ill bring with me.
  8. Looks like its gonna stay well east of our area, hopefully it stays that way.
  9. Those arent mine, just a pic I found on the net to compare. I love the Springfield pinch safety, its a 2 part thing with the palm button and the false trigger. After you shoot one the first time, it feels as if it has no safety at all while you are shooting. Super easy and you dont have to think about it at all.
  10. Im betting that is a replacement screw. If you look above it and to the right, youll see another screw that has the engraving and finish on it so it blends right in.
  11. Shield 9mm on the left, XDS 9mm on the right
  12. Check out the Springfields, they arent much bigger than a Bodyguard 380, and are smaller than the Shield.
  13. I was figuring on doing the targets at oddball ranges out back. I want her to build lots of confidence with her rifle before we hit the woods in the fall. Unfortunately I dont have my hand loading setup quite yet, thats in the works, but maybe if Culver has some time I could get over there and whip a few options up to try. I figured Id grab a few boxes of factory junk to run through it at first and see what it likes. Lawdwaz, youd be more than welcome to come with us. They are always appreciative of cleaning out the chucks down on the farm. Woodchuck holes do not go well with horses.
  14. So I had been asking for recommendations a while back, and had a few guys offer to let Haley try out a few different calibers. One of my girlfriends cousins had the 7-08 right handed Savage Axis and brought it over and let her shoot it. She fell in love with it, so I ordered her a left handed version of the same gun from Buds Gun Shop and had it shipped to an FFL in Canandaigua. It arrived yesterday and I stopped to pick it up last night. The FFL I used was great, he is a county Sheriff that runs his business out of his garage in his spare time. The name of the place is Top Notch Firearms Sales. If you are in the area and need an FFL, I would recommend him any day of the week. $25 transfer fee, and he his pretty flexible with when you can get together with him. The rifle was around $100 cheaper through Buds than anywhere local, the transaction was smooth, and I had the rifle in a week. The gun seems great, nice and light so it should be an easy carry for her. I have an extra Vortex Crossfire II 3-9x40 laying around that will go on top of it. Once she gets the gun, tomorrow night, I will see if I have a set of rings that will work with it. Next weekend we will get it sighted in, and then we are going to start going out after woodchucks when the weather warms up a bit. Should be fun, and great practice to get her ready for this coming deer season. Cant wait to see her put her first deer on the ground with it!
  15. I have shot the XDS in 40, 9mm and 45. I am actually looking to buy the 9mm, as the 45 was way too jumpy for me. It does pack a punch, but with the gun being for self defense, I want something that I can keep on target easier for a quick follow up. Its just tough to do with the 45 with it being such a small gun with that much power. Maybe for someone with bigger hands it would be fine, but the 9mm feels perfect to me.
  16. I just hope this one stays east and we dont get much out of it.
  17. Yeah thats what I was going to do, but Ill end up selling the plow so Im not worried about it now. Just going to replace the cable with a new one.
  18. Yeah my ATV does ok as long as the snow is not wet and heavy, and is 8" or less. The problem is that I broke the winch cable on it before winter started and havent had a chance to fix it with moving, my dad being in the hospital for the last month, etc. Plus, we are at the end of a 1/2 mile private road thats a bit on the hilly side, so my ATV plow is pretty much useless for our new place, besides some clean up here and there. 2 of our vehicles are fine getting through the snow as long as its less than a foot. Ill probably end up getting rid of the plow for the ATV once we get the tractor. Ill use the money toward buying a set of tracks for the ATV so that we can have a means for emergency access for ourselves and the neighbors if need be. The couple of neighbors we have are older, and if there were some medical emergency or something with them, us or our kids, getting help in or out could be a big issue during a significant storm. Its funny how being snowbound a couple of times makes you start thinking about things like that.
  19. Yes, we ended up with 22" at our place. Two guys broke their plow trucks trying to dig us out. We were stuck back there for almost 2 days. I still have more digging out to do so I can get down to the barn to bring wood up to the house. Next year we will have a tractor with a plow and front end loader. We have been snowbound twice this year. Not happening again after this year.
  20. Maybe he could rope Dicaprio into playing his part. They both look somewhat similar ya know...
  21. I havent had many scary experiences in the woods, a couple, but Ive had a few on the water. I wold have to say the worst one was up at Lake George. I was running a 32ft Formula at around 70-75 mph and hit a couple of nasty waves at an odd angle, which threw me off balance and my arm hit the kill switches, which shot the bow right up as we hit the second wave. Almost flipped the boat, and scared the everliving out of me. Im no stranger to fast boats, Ive driven a couple of Cigarettes at well over 100, but that scared me to the point where I didnt enjoy going fast on the water for a couple of years. It still freaks me out a bit when I think about it.
  22. Oh I know. Its kind of rare that I vote for someone running as an Independent, I usually end up voting Republican. My stances on issues are varied. I fully support Constitutional rights for every citizen, Economically I am Conservative, but on many social issues, I tend to go toward the left side of things.
  23. Sadly, Ill have no choice I would like to add though, that I have been a registered Independant for as long as I can remember, but I will be changing it to Republican if Trump is heading the direction with gun control that he seems to be, just so I can vote against him in the primaries.
  24. This is one of the rotation years for corn to be in a certain field that always has a crap load of activity in and out of it when its in corn. Its great very early in bow season when its in beans too, but nothing like it is with corn. Same general area that I took my bucks in the last 2 years in a row.
