You have your opinion of what belongs in archery season, and that is fine. There is also the opinion, that many people agree with, that crossbows are archery equipment, there is no significant advantage to them other than the amount of practice to become proficient, and therefore they belong in archery season as another tool for people to use.

Thats not what I have heard. They have allowed crossbows for what? 41 years? Heres the current status of crossbows across the nation. NY will fall in line with the majority before long.

It is about inclusion. Inclusion of crossbows into all of archery season, where they belong. They are marketing to anyone that wants an accurate crossbow. Stop cherry picking specific ads to take out of context and take a look at the whole marketing campaign that they are putting out. Check this out, a bow sight claiming rifle like accuracy too. Guess they must be marketing this to all of the "lazy gun hunters".

I get sleepy once in a while, but not that often. As Phade said, the head nod in the stand can be pretty unnerving.

Hogs are a problem down there. If you look around, you can find local guys that will put you on them cheap. I just saw one the other day offering hunts for $100, and its not far from Tampa. Ill see if I can dig up the info for you.

Browning has the best cams for the buck on the market right now. Ive been running them for a couple of years now and love them. Ive been replacing my Coverts with them as the Coverts die. I run the Dark Ops cameras. Black flash, great pics and I havent had a single issue yet. Love them. They are worth the couple extra dollars. I get mine from Phade. Heres a daytime and night time pic from one of them.

I use the ICS Hunter Patriots. Great arrows.

Crossbow arrows are generally 20 or 22 inches. That arrow looks longer than that. If you could see the nock it would tell you for sure.

I have both a crossbow and a compound. I have been shooting my compound for years, and I am pretty accurate with it out to 50 yards shooting at targets. This year the furthest I have shot it is 40. I recently got my crossbow and I will say, that purely offhand, I can shoot a bit more accurately with my compound. Give me a rest for my crossbow, and its more accurate than I can be with my compound hands down. I have yet to hunt with my crossbow, but I have been thinking about how it will be while I have been in my stands this year. With the types of setups I use, my crossbow shots will be mainly offhand. A few stands and blinds I will have a rest, so I may actually relegate my crossbow use to those particular blinds and stands.

I agree with that completely. I do think that alot of the guys that think that way will end up washing out within a season or two though. Either that or they will work towards becoming a better archery hunter. Either way, the problem solves itself for the most part. There will always be bad apples though.

Just because someone has the opinion that crossbows should be included in all of archery season, doesnt mean they are whining. Im with you on the rest though. If I could extend my hunting another two weeks, Id pick up a recurve as well.
