Awesome! Great shooting, sounds like you had a good time!

You beat me to it. If a mechanic was talking about putting Loc-Tite on my lugs, Id take it to another mechanic. Hes a hack. If you know how lugs go into your hub, youd know why Loc-Tite wouldnt do a damn bit of good anyhow, as they dont thread in, they have a spline on them and the spline digs into the holes in the hub.

Where do you keep your bow while on stand?
WNYBuckHunter replied to ATbuckhunter's topic in Bow Hunting
I use bow holders within easy reach. The majority of our sets are in clump trees, with the hang on being inside the clump. Youll have a couple/few trees in front of you, so a small screw in holder goes on one of them. I used to use bow holders that were the arm style, but stopped for all but a couple of sets. Id rather have the bow hung right up against the trunk of the tree than sticking out swinging around in the wind, which is just more movement for the deer to clue in on. -
WNYBuckHunter's Outdoor Journal

This past Saturday I got out in the stand for the afternoon, and ended up seeing quite a few deer, including a 6 point that I grunted in, and he walked right through my shooting lane at 30 yards. He was out cruising for does. Right at last light, I got trapped in my stand because 2 young bucks came busting out into the field and ran a few does around in circles right by my stand. Sunday was uneventful with all of the wind, didnt see a single deer. We decided to get a couple of stands moved in the early afternoon, and scouted a new property we just got permission for. One thing we noticed while scouting is that the scrapes have all seemed to have died down a bit the last few days, as they were all littered with leaves. I checked one of my trail cameras yesterday and it looks like we have a couple of new bucks in the area. Some good fight sequences too. Little 6 DeerAg Double Beam brassicas -
Ive used both, the Lone Wolf was ok, but I liked the Summit Viper I used to have. It was solid as a rock and extremely comfortable. Quit bothering with climbers a couple of years ago. The farms I hunt dont generally have many trees that they work well on, that are in the right places.

Hit by car deer/ what would you do ?
WNYBuckHunter replied to turkeyfeathers's topic in General Chit Chat
That too, i was talking about "knifes" -
Yes, thats what I meant by we went looking for the person. It was shot a little far back and traveled about 500 yards, but it bled more than enough for a successful track.

I love when people fix one spelling error with another. -

Looks awesome. Im gonna have to try the oat/brassica mix next year. Our brassicas are getting hammered, and the WR looks like a nicely mowed lawn. -
The days I have to hunt all look to be in the 50s and low 60s. Not the best temps, but not horrible. Afternoons may be slow, but mornings and evenings should be fine.

Rage broadheads turned me into a believer today
WNYBuckHunter replied to Hock3y24's topic in Bow Hunting
You can use the crossbow heads with your regular bow. -
I actually have had quite a few conversations with them, and read plenty of what they have put out there. They are just as aware of carrying capacity as anyone else that knows something about deer management, biology, etc. Yes, population control is their responsibility, but they dont have complete control of how many deer an area can support.

Thats another situation I have been involved with. We were hunting state land, someone shot a doe, it ran and ended up dying right in front of my buddy that was in a stand. He left the deer and waited for someone to come along tracking it. Noone did in 3 hours. We went looking for the guy, then went back to camp and called an ECO. He told us to tag it if we wanted it. My buddy hadnt gotten a deer in his freezer yet, so he tagged it and took it with him.

You arent reporting that YOU killed it, you are reporting that it was killed. I dont think they are going to email something that isnt legal.

From: dec.sm.Region8 Sent: Thursday, October 29, 2015 1:26 PM To: Burke, John W (DEC) Subject: FW: Question about tagging deer Could you please respond? From: John Wolfe [] Sent: Thursday, October 29, 2015 8:36 AM To: dec.sm.Region8 Subject: Question about tagging deer If I shot a deer, and it died on a property that I dont have access to, and the landowner denies me retrieving the deer, can that landowner legally tag the deer as theirs and keep it? Thanks, John Wolfe

Did you post the twilight zone video in this thread yet? Oh yeah, you did. Maybe do it again...
-
Listen, if you dont understand what carrying capacity is, then you are completely lost on this subject. Moving more deer into an area where the habitat cannot support it, will not do the deer any good.
-
Take a look at the deer take numbers for the last year or two, then look at DMP allocation, its pretty easy to figure out where the populations are high and where they are not.
-
Thats not what the regulations guide says. The OP may want to give their local DEC officer a call to clarify.

What is going on around here lately?

I dont stalk you, and I dont always say you are wrong, you really should get over yourself with that crap. Ill post the reply when I get it.
