WNYBuckHunter's Outdoor Journal

They dont allow trapping on the property. They do not want the fox harmed or killed. We have to be careful when predator hunting there. Its why we dont end up killing very many on the farm. -
Gotcha

WNYBuckHunter's Outdoor Journal

Thanks guys. Once I get around to putting all of them on my PC, Ill share some more. I have a few videos of that red yote being harassed by a bunch of crows, and another of the two foxes fighting a bit. I was kicking myself for pulling the cams after I saw how much good stuff I got. I might just get them updated quick and put them back this week or weekend. -

I have had no time lately to get out predator hunting. I did get some time this past weekend to get the kids down to the farm for a few hours to check things out, scout a bit for predator activity, etc. I wanted to grab my last two cams and bring them in for firmware updates, etc. They were sitting over my carcass pile. One on photo mode and the other running video. Got some great pics and a few good videos. Heres a few samples of the pics I got that I took with my phone while I was viewing all of them. Had well over 1000 pics from a 2 week soak. -
I found it cheaper than fridged forrage. Deer Creek Seed. I think Im gonna mix it with chickory. Ill see if I can get it cheaper at Turners. Did or do you fertilize it?
-
Grow, how many lbs per acre do you plant of the burnett? Do you use one of the food plot company seeds or just regular salad burnett seeds?
-
I have heard of lots of people planting just Chickory. I have a couple of plots that have been in brassicas for a few years and its time to give them a rest. We have a ton of clover on the property already, as weve been over seeding and frost seeding our trails in it, as well as a good size clover plot going in this year. Just want to mix things up a bit.
-
Ive been thinking about doing one of our plots all in chickory this year. Any tips from you guys (or gals) on that?

We planted two plots with seed that was 6 years old this past year. Both of them were Evolved Habitat mixes. Both plots grew very well. -

I have had no luck with Nikon stuff. I have had some of the Vortex scopes, and love them. Cant say enough good stuff about them. Google cameralandny for the best deals on them. I have had a Crossfire and now I have a Viper HX. The Crossfire was far better than any other inexpensive scope Ive used, and the Viper is just plain sweet. Ill be buying another one this year to replace an older Bushnell that I used on my ML this past season. Oh, and dont forget Vortex's warranty. Lifetime transferrable. -

They did seem to hit the radish greens earlier than the PTTs. The radishes were also pretty good at regrowing the greens after they had been nibbled down. Ill definately use them again. -

Speaking of radishes and such, what results do you get with ground hog radish? We planted them for the first time this past year, and the deer ate the greens, but pretty much ignored the tubers. Last I was down to look, all they did was snap the ends off that were sticking up, and left them lay there. They dug up the PTTs, etc like crazy though. -

Yeah that was kind of annoying, though he had a pretty good line that day and may have been hasty in which bag he grabbed. Oh well, deer loved it just the same. Cant remember what I paid per pound for turnips there last year. It wasnt expensive though. -

The MR2 mag release has already been deemed compliant. Want help with your build? -
The only deer I have ever noticed a real difference in how tender or tough it is, is a fawn. Those backstraps are teder enough to cut with the side of your fork. Ive eaten young bucks, old ones, young does, old ones, middle age, from PA mountains, NY farms, midwest (Iowa) farms, and they all taste good and arent noticably "tougher" than each other when cooked properly. They all turn to shoe leather if you over cook them.

Look at Wicked Ridge bows, made by TenPoint and they have a great rep. You can get one all rigged and ready to go for under $500. Also look at Carbon Express, Dicks has the Covert right now for $350. They also have a good rep. Personally Id stay away from Barnett. You can goolge alot of reasons why.

Well its my opinion, Im allowed to pick and choose what I state my opinion on, arent I? At the bottom I added "JMO" which stands for Just My Opinion. I dont think I said in there I break this law but not that one, nor did I call anyone unethical.

I thought they quit doing it a year or two ago when they took the lodge section out
-
Why? Do you have some type of data showing a trend in hunters in that age range being involved in hunting accidents in states that allow it? If you do, Id like to read it.

I have just TWC internet for $37 a month. They quoted you for the upgraded speed I bet.

Or maybe you just need to use your reading skills. I dont claim to know everything, never have. Honestly, I wouldnt have even responded to you the way I did if you hadnt responded with something like "ughh" to begin with. Stuff like that makes you come off as a douche, just so you know. back to the subject...
