Come on Culver, talk some crap about it! hahahahaha -
yes you do change your anchor point with or without the dloop. the draw length of the bow does not change. I said I wasnt going to argue it, if you cant understand, even with a picture, I dont know what to tell you.
-
Heres an illustration to show you. Now, with the dloop, the anchor point would be at the red mark on the face, without it, it would be at the blue mark. The draw length of the bow is still the same.
-
It does not change the bows draw length. A bow set to a 29 inch draw length only draws 29 inches, regardless of what release you use or attach to the string. It only changes the position of your draw arm/hand in relation to the rest of your body (aka anchor point).

Ive been seeing robins for a week.

I agree with the other guys, I joined years ago, and all they did was send me some crap that I had to pay to ship back before they billed me for it. I havent rejoined.

I know how to measure draw length, and I agree, all I was saying is that you do not change your draw length by adding removing or modifying a D loop, all you do is change your anchor points. Its just something that people can be confused by. I know someone that went to a shorter draw bow a couple of years ago. In order to do so, he had to change his anchor points. It works for him, and he shoots pretty damn good with it, but its not something everyone should do. In this case, we are talking about a brand new shooter, he has no anchor points to change, and unless he is someone that would normally need a long draw length bow (over 30"), theres no real reason for him not to get set up with a bow of the proper draw for his dimensions. Its good hes going to a pro shop, hopefully they will get him setup right.

You and moog talked about it.
-
I corrected it. What he is talking about is not changing the draw length, its changing the anchor point. The two things just get mixed up sometimes. Thats all.
-
The draw cycle of the bow doesnt change, you dont change the draw length. Look, Im not going to argue with you or anyone else on it, the proof has been put out there by myself and others, believe what you want, but you are wrong. You are trying to argue opinion against a fact.

Interesting AR15 article

Thanks for the heads up Jeremy! -
Correct, it changes the anchor point.
-
No it doesnt. http://www.huntersfriend.com/compound_bow_draw_length_discussion.html

Leg ripped open from a yote attack, or something like that maybe. Could be a growth, but it almost looks like an injury to me.

The mounting system sucks.

Go shoot as many as you can, figure out what feels right and then buy one used on Archerytalk. Dont mess with low end bows, buy a used high end model, and never look back. Ive tried entry level bows and mid level bows that i thought would be good enough. In the end I did exactly what i am advising you to do here, at the prompting of a few guys that had alot more experience than I. They didnt suggest brands, they didnt suggest models, they said go shoot the higher end models till you find one that feels good. Best advice I have ever taken when it comes to archery equipment. I spent alot of time, money and frustration trying to make something right rather than finding the perfect fit. Btw, a dloop does not affect draw length, only where your anchor point is. I agree with going to legit pro shops and not big box stores. They are better 9 times out of 10, and will be able to advise you on what draw length is right for you. Also, dont get caught up in the high poundage, speed freak stuff. You dont need 300fps to kill a deer, even out to 30 or 40 yards, which you shouldnt even be thinking about yet lol.

I was in the Henrietta Gander twice in the last week and a half. They are doing a pretty good job reorganizing the store IMO. The gun and archery sections are being completely redone, and they are supposedly going to have 1000+ guns on hand at all times. The last two times i have been there, I've gotten good prices on things. My R700 VTR, and a kids camo jacket that was 60% off. Some stuff is pricey, but if you look, youll find good stuff. My biggest complaint is the lack of staff, and the wait at the gun counter. Ive had the same complaints at Bass Pro in Auburn though. We will see what Field & Stream turns out to be. I have yet to visit one of their stores, and wont pass judgement either way until i see what its all about. The site work over by Marketplace has begun.

I used to have a bad problem wit it when i was younger. It cost me alot of deer, and a few great bucks. I used to get it even with does. For the past 12 years or so, i have gotten a grip on it for the most part. From the time i see the deer until i pull the trigger, im rock steady. Once i know i hit the deer, or it leaves without me shooting it, i shake uncontrollably, sometimes for quite a while. It happens with does and bucks, but it is alot worse with a shooter buck.

Ill just keep my answer to the intended question. 75 yards dead broadside? Same shot I usually take with a gun. Mid shoulder, just a hair back. Breaks both shoulders and takes out the front of both lungs. They usually drop, if they dont, they wont go far.

From what i found with a quick google search, NY 265.01, which makes them illegal, has been around since at least 2005. Way before the safe act.

Wrist rockets were illegal before the safe act, werent they?
