  1. Man, my stomach hurt earlier, so I sat down on the Piers Morgan and took a Jay-Z then wiped my Kanye West with some Ultra Soft Charmin. I feel so much better now....
  2. Come to think about it, they did throw out a crossbow related tidbit earlier in the show. 22 states now allow crossbows in with their regular archery season.
  3. He was talking garbage can lid or basket ball size groups.
  4. Nope, they never came into the talk. As I said, his comments were directed toward target shooting at long range to make the shorter shots easier. You can DVR it, Im sure they will replay it 8 gajillion times lol.
  5. You ever want some good pike spots let me know phade.
  6. I remember the same spiel Culver.
  7. I hear ya, I commented to my daughter how it felt like fall, and made me think about bow hunting. Gorgeous morning and a great break from the heat!
  8. Man, great area. Make sure to give some coneys and 3/4 ways at Skyline a try. Lots of hunting opportunities there. Good luck!
  9. Doc is right, those pics are showing negative reactions to the camera, no doubt about it. Get that cam up higher and angle it down, you may be able to get them to stop reacting to it.
  10. I agree, I just thought the comments were an interesting take, especially given the recent subject matter on here.
  11. I practice at 50 and 60 yards as well. It does help make the shorter shots feel easier.
  12. We will also be at the DEC National Hunting and Fishing Days held at the Region 8 Headquarters in Avon. The dates this year are September 28th & 29th. Stop out and say hello! You can like us on facebook too www.facebook.com/grstqdma
  13. In one of my spots (not sure how much longer it will be available but anywho...) we have had an 8 point or outside the ears rule going for quite some time now. Most guys that hunt the area abide, but not all. Some monsters have been taken out of that area, and even more have been spotted. Our biggest issues are poaching, and the land is slowly but surely being carved up and sold off. In any case, if you can get the neighbors on board, go for it.
  14. Now that weve gotten into the technology side of hunting, and bow hunting in particular, who saw this year's first episode of Deer & Deer Hunting TV today? I just got done watching it from my DVR. Right toward the end, one of the guys was talking about shooting your bow out at long range. He said that with today's bows, target shooting out to 100 yards is no real problem, and he also said that todays rigs pretty much shoot themselves. Interesting view on things if you ask me.
  15. LOL Doe. I shoot a 375gr arrow and have punched through both shoulders and still got 6 to 8 inches of dirt. I know you shoot some telephone poles that would have no problem punching through a moose.
  16. Theres no overkill with a whitetail as far as KE or momentum goes. Pass through is pass through. Want to make sure it passes through regardless of bone in the way on a marginal shot? Need more momentum.
  17. Yep, thats what people call it when the deer hears the bow shot and drops down to preload its legs for the quick get away.
  18. Bummer. Try again after season is over, maybe try to get shed hunting or small game permission first.
  19. Olympic shooters do not get a wide ranging choice with their arrow weight, they shoot what is required in their class. You are also talking about bows that are slower than the average compound. People are buying into speed because thats how the industry is selling new bows. Speed has nothing to do with being a conservationist.
  20. BTW, enough with the name calling and cursing.
  21. Sorry, but at any distance below 40 yards, an extra 20 or 30 fps is meaningless. I would say 8 out of 10 times people shoot high or low on a deer, its the result of improper form, not bending at the waist. Speed wont cure that. Other times, youll get people aiming too high on the deer's body, and when they squat to load their legs to run, the arrow flies over their back. You should always aim about 1/3 of the way up from the belly line, that way if they drop on you, youll still get lungs. Unless you plan on just shooting targets, dont fall in to the speed hype.
  22. Come on Joe! You can do it! Keep your calendar clear in early March!
