Im not suggesting that a lighter arrow should be used any time other than for a pure target shooting application. In the hunting world, more weight and correct spine combined with practice and accuracy far outweigh the need for speed or flatter trajectory. JMO.

The branch president, Mike Edwards, and I returned the other day from the 2013 QDMA National Convention in Athens Georgia, where we represented our branch for the presentation of the 2013 QDMA New Branch of the Year award. This award is a great achievement for the branch and all of the volunteers that helped make our banquet and educational events successful! Thanks to everyone that attended our events through the year, and to those that supported our branch with donations! Keep your eye out for the future events we are currently working on!

Speed helps with a flatter trajectory at longer distances. It has little to do with accuracy.

Everyones entitled to their opinion, and I think ASAT is a good choice as well. I am just pointing out that you should not rule patterns out based on how they look to you. It doesnt matter what the hunter sees, only what the deer sees. Someone posted a picture of themselves in Predator fall grey on the ground from a distance one time. They filtered the photo to mimic what a deer would see, it was amazing how he stood out when looking at him with our range of vision, but once it was filtered, he disappeared.

Its just as effective on the ground. I have a jacket and overalls in it, and use them ground hunting very effectively. Dont be sold on colors, deer dont see the same way you do.

What area of Indiana? Some great hunting out there. Good luck bud!
-
Yep. Predator is great stuff. Fall grey might get you some goofy looks from other hunters, but deer seem to look right through you.
-
I keep mine @ 15 - 20 feet unless an area calls for something else. Higher than that and you are just reducing your kill zone, particularly with a bow.

Yep, thats a decent buck, cant get any idea on age though, as theres a doe standing in front of him. Hopefully you can manage to get some better pics of him!

Its a pirated version of Gasland 2, which is the follow up to the original documentary Gasland. It covers the subject of Fracking. I watched it a few weeks ago. I have always leaned a bit toward the "its a good idea to frack" side of the fence, but have never been sold either way on the subject. After watching that, Im leaning the other way, at least until what they showed and said in it is proven false. Its definitely hard to trust any of the info coming from the government or gas industry, but Im also skeptical on trusting everything the anti side has to say as well. I wouldnt allow it on my property, not after seeing what saw in that.

Yeah, whats the point here?

Here Comes Ontario County ...... Again

I dont think the Livingston bill made it to the Senate or Assembly in time to be voted on this year. -
Out liying properties are mixed hardwoods to the north and west, a couple of large hayfields to the south, and to the west on the other side of the hardwoods. to the east is alot of hardwoods on the other side of the larger creek, with large hay fields beyond that. I think there is some corn about a half or 3/4 mile to the north east. There is a 2 or 3 acre bean patch on the other side of the hay field directly south. The plots have basically been positioned in areas that are on the outskirts of pre-existing funnels that are open to sunlight. Entry is based on wind and what stand we hunt. We are looking to improve on our access by beginning to wind map the property this year. Pressure is a bit of an issue, as there are 3 or 4 guys that have permission here that we have zero control over, and so far, they do not work with us. The cows in the pasture help us a bit though, because noone is allowed into the pasture while the cattle are there. Nobody really goes in there even after they are gone, except to recover deer. Neighboring property gets some pressure as well, but we have yet to speak with those guys to get a feel for what their style is. We have decided not to use any mock rubs, scents, etc on this property, the name of the game is low impact for us. We are going to try and take advantage of the other guys "mistakes" for our benefit.

Exhausted after taking these 2 for 2

Yes it is. A lawn tractor is a motor vehicle according to DEC. read the definitions. -

Peta doesnt care what the pictures look like, a dead animal killed by a hunter is a dead animal killed by a hunter. They see all of it as bad. -

I see that point, but then the farmer gets screwed that season, which is when DEC does the survey to see how many tags to give. If they are being severely damaged, and then end up with some kind of crop disease, drought or flooding, it just compounds their problems. The way I see it, the farmers needs come before the hunters. We get DDPs at the one farm I hunt each year, they sit out in a farm truck and the first x number of deer shot off the land have to be tagged with them. If they catch you not using the DDPs first, they are not happy. Any one hunter can only use 2 like you said. When he gets nusiance permits, we arm wrestle lol. -
Ahhh, I didnt realize that. Thanks for the heads up.

Well, nuisance tags give you more options than regular hunting. You can use them outside of regular deer seasons, when most of the crop damage is happening, and you can use tactics like spotlighting and baiting, which make filling the tags easier. Regular DDPs (damage permits) are property specific, but you have to follow all of the normal rules for the season you use them in. -
Yep. The state wide either sex tags are a big problem from a management perspective.
