My New Encore Whitetail Extreme
WNYBuckHunter replied to WNYBuckHunter's topic in Guns and Rifles and Discussions
Im not sure if its #1, or if its just one of the 200 made. I plan on shooting an email to TC to see if they can tell me. -
Wish I would have known you were there. Culvercreek and I were there this morning as well. It was a zoo in there and the heat was oppressive. I just bought some cleaning supplies for myself, but bought my daughter her first gun. The ammo prices were nuts, and other than a couple of things I specifically know the price was down on, nothing was cheap. One of the kids guns I looked at was priced $40 above suggested retail, so I offered retail for it and the guy refused. I told him there was another one a couple aisles over for regular retail, and Id go buy that. I never seem to buy too much at the shows, I just like going and hanging out and seeing all of the wierdos and cool stuff. They had some pretty crazy zombie targets lol.

Thanks guys. Yeah she knows. Shes ok with it because I am not technically adding anything to the arsenal, just trading out. I have a wedding to fund this year, so Im trying to keep my gun and hunting spending down a bit. Cant say as Ill be successful though lol. -

My Frame and stocks came today. Turns out the gun had a few shots on it, so the deal was changed a bit, but I still got a good deal on it. Im happy with the gun and will be taking the frame apart to clean it real good this weekend at some point. Im hoping to make a deal on a ML barrel for it at the gun show tomorrow. If not, Ill be talking to the guy Bubba suggested. Here it is... -
If they are giving them $10 specifically for applying for DMPs, thats breaking the rules, as it would technically be buying tags. Each hunter is only allowed to have 2 DMPs per season signed over to them, so if your buddies have more than 6 DMPs per guy, they are breaking the rules again. Doing this doesnt make any difference to NY's management plan though, as they give x number of DMPs out per WMU, and they expect a certain percentage to be filled. They arent concerned with who fills them in that respect.

$40 extra for "cutlets"? Thats on top of what? $50+ to have the deer butchered to begin with? So now you are talking close to, if not over $100 for your deer to be processed. Man, thats some pricey meat right there. At those kind of prices, I dont even know if Id bother. Ive got 2 1/2 deer in the freezer right now that cost under $50 total including the 6 varieties of sausage I made.

Good Luck. Keep us updated in the Out of NY hunting section!

Yeah they ran a story in NYODN about this a few issues ago. As far as I know they havent fixed anything, but you never know, they always seem to wait till the last minute to get stuff like this done.
-
Wish I had the extra right now. I wouldnt mind another 40. Gotta get my Encore together first though.

I have alot of pet peeves, but alot isnt one of them.

Ive been seeing them all over the place since the middle of the 3rd week of gun season. Bottom line is, you over hunt or over pressure your property, they will leave and find a safe place or find the thickest brush and crawl into it, or the nastiest swamp where people dont go, and only come out at night. If you keep the pressure down, their patterns dont change as much.

I didnt see any up at the Auburn BPS when I was there just before Christmas. I would check Vortex's web site and see if they have any other dealers near you, or call BPS and make sure they have some in stock.

LOL, the last thing a "stupid deer" sees from me is a muzzle flash or broadhead traveling in their direction. Personally, I dont set stands or sit in spots where I think deer will be heading away from me, I want them to walk toward me and get as close as possible. Stupid deer taste just as good as smart ones!

As long as you arent taking payment through PayPal, and just using it to pay for things, there are no charges to pay. If you are using it to take payment, just figure the 3% they take into the price you are asking. I dont go to these pay per bid auction sites. Screw that. Id rather just buy from a private seller direct and pay a bit more.

I like it! Don't forget, practice with the gun you carry.

I understand what the thinking is behind such a law, or proposal, but it just simply does not add up. Going along those lines of thinking, no criminal in the US should be able to get ahold of an automatic firearm, grenades or other military type weapons. Guess what, they can get ahold of them relatively easily. The weapons come in from other countries, etc, and there is no practical way of stopping it. The bottom line is, laws ONLY affect those who obey them.

BTW, there are alot of "used" bows on there that are actually brand new bows with less than 100 shots on them. There are alot of guys with new bow addictions and they buy the latest and greatest, shoot it a few times and sell it to buy another model of latest and greatest. Its kind of funny actually.

You can usually tell how well they are taken care of, just look for marks on the cams, riser, etc. Archerytalk is pretty good about policing sellers on bad deals, etc. and 99% of the guys on there want to keep their good itrader ratings, so look for someone with all positive feedback and dont buy from someone with no rating and you should be fine.

Sorry, but the comparison to the car holds water just fine. No need to eliminate speed limits, as there are limits on what types of guns you can own (no automatics, etc without proper licenses) already. What doesnt hold water is your "public safety" notion. Please explain why law abiding gun owners are any type of threat to public safety. Restricting capacities of firearms ONLY restricts those that abide by the law, and would have no effect on criminals or those that pose a threat to public safety.
