Hahaha, the only time I do is when I am re-purposing, and then I usually trade them for something else. The only time I sold one and didnt replace it was my SKS. I didnt like doing that. The current ones I have up for sale are all getting replaced. The Stoeger was strictly a clays/skeet gun. It kicked like a mule, so I traded it for an auto loader that was softer on the recoil.

long evening of cleaning guns
WNYBuckHunter replied to Red's topic in Guns and Rifles and Discussions
I cleaned a bunch of mine Sunday after coming back from the gun club. I like cleaning and inspecting them. Gotta get the rest of them done next weekend. I clean them twice a year even if they dont get shot. -
Low canada geese numbers in Finger Lakes
WNYBuckHunter replied to gnomejoe's topic in Waterfowl Hunting
Tons of them over by me in the Honeoye area. I really should start shooting them. -
LMAO, I wonder how many will pick up on that one
-
Yep. Like I said, I didnt shoot it on the farm of call it by name, to me, it was a deer that walked by my stand. Would I tell people the story behind it? Yes.
-
Used to. John will probably set it back up again for next season.
-
I think youd see alot of guys quit if you whittled the whole season to just 5 weeks. DEC is expanding the overall season by 2+ weeks. Seems they dont share your opinion.

Like phade said, if retrieval rights are aquired from surrounding land owners, 5 acres is enough to put a couple of stands on and hunt lightly. I have taken the majority of my deer in a 100 yard circle from my stand, which sits on a very small parcel. It just so happens to have one of the best, most consistent funnels Ive ever seen running right through it though.

Anyone interested in a rotating home in the woods??
WNYBuckHunter replied to Deerthug's topic in General Chit Chat
Kinda neat. Couldnt say Id want it though. -
See if you have the latest version. Thats what I use and like I said, working fine for me. While you are at it, you should make sure your Java and Adobe Flash are up to date as well.

Theres a deer farm right up the road from where I hunt. Do I know what the tags they use look like? Nope. I am not usually looking at the deer's ear before I shoot, so I wouldnt realize it had tags in the ears before I shot it. If the tags had some kind of ID on them as to who it belonged to, I would make the effort to try and contact them right before I called the DEC and asked them what to do. Would I mount the deer? Yep, not like I went into the fenced enclosure and shot it.

Its working for me. What browser are you using Lawdwaz?

Nice, I used to have one in 12ga. Shot great, but I traded it for an auto loader. Good luck with it!

Store your ATV for the winter
WNYBuckHunter replied to ants's topic in ATV's , UTV's, Dirtbikes & Snowmobiles
Car oil. The specific atv oil is a waste of the extra you pay for it. -
Would I turn a hunt with them down? Probably not. Would I see it as some huge honor? No. I met Travis Turner, aka T-Bone, at a local event the year before last, very nice guy.

Thanks Dave!

Store your ATV for the winter
WNYBuckHunter replied to ants's topic in ATV's , UTV's, Dirtbikes & Snowmobiles
Fogging the engine is easy, pull the plug(s) and spray the engine fogger into the cylinder and put the plug(s) back in. I wouldn't worry about the crank case. I've had small engines (atvs, dirt bikes, lawn mowers, chainsaws, weed eaters, boats, sleds jet skis) sit for over a year with just sta-bil and a trickle charger on the battery, and never had a problem. Like I said before though, I like to take the weight off of the tires. -
Tag? What tag?

I agree with most of that, mbut I would get a rubber exhaust plug instead of stuffing a tee shirt or rag in there, which can hold moisture. Also, I would take the weight off of the tires, use some small jack stands and put the quad up on them, then let the air out of the tires. Also, get a trickle charger and leave it charging the battery In the garage or basement. -
Also to be considered is where Dave hunts and where you hunt. Deer density is dramatically different between the two areas, you can't really compare the two to begin with.

Happy New Year guys and gals

I've given up a few hobbies in the last 5 or 6 years, hunting, particularly deer hunting and now predator hunting are my main hobbies, but I also golf, shoot clays, camp, fish and ride bikes. I used to be big into cars and boats, but something had to go when my daughter was born (boats) and I gave up my car hobby and picked up our first camper once my daughter got to a good age to go camping a lot. One of these days I'll get another boat, but I think the car thing isn't going to make a comeback any time soon. John, I used to run R/C cars. Lst one I had was a full custom Traxxas TMaxx. All aluminum frame plate, suspension, body mounts and driveshafts, big bock (3.0?) engine, etc etc. That thing was crazy fast, and also a money pit. I was always breaking stuff, so I got rid of it. I'd love to get another one,but would stick with a stock one to keep the costs down. Always wanted to get a plane, just never have.

Haha. I want this gun to be my go to setup and last a lifetime. This will be one I pass down to my son someday. -

I just looked into scopes and have decided on the Vortex Viper HSBC in 2.5-10x44 which I'll be using on both rifle and ML setups until I can swing a second so both have the same glass. Should be a good setup. -

Definately interested, I'd appreciate it! I am going to be looking into a 30-06 barrel as well.
