  1. A Whitetail is perfectly capable of jumping the string of a 300+ fps highest tech available compound, even at short range. Its the Indian, not the arrow.
  2. Oh boy. Im switching from shotgun to ML and now youre tempting me with rifle???? Im gonna go broke!!!
  3. I use the strap that comes with the stand just to get it attached, then I use a ratchet strap or two to secure it. I want my stand to feel rock solid.
  4. Same here, once my bow is sighted in, I shoot spots, I've had a few robin hoods and after the first one, I wasn't happy at all.
  5. I agree, use sabots. I like the Hornady SSTs, grouped great out of my slug gun at 100 yards. The Remington Accutips also get great reviews.
  6. I have tried cheap climbers, and they are a waste of money. Noisy, heavy and uncomfortable. The Lone Wolf sit and climb is nice. The summits are just plain solid, light (aluminum models), comfortable, and you can get different sizes for average or bigger guys. The selection of accessories can't be beat etiher. I have the Viper SS and would only consider getting one of the larg aluminum Summits or the Lone Wolf. I don't exclusively use the climber, it's just another stand option for certain areas and state land. I've used it a lot this year trying to figure out where to put my hang one and ladder stands for next year.
  7. If it became legal, do you think there should be a BO requirement for spear season?
  8. I have a backpack. I figured out how to strap it on the stand for the walk in, then I strap it to the side of the stand once Im up in the tree. If you dont want something that big, a fanny pack would work as well.
  9. Sure, I mean if someone really wants it, they could cut the tree down LOL. The lock just keeps honest people honest, and the nice thing about the Python, is you dont have to have a strap or bungee attaching the cam to the tree, plus a regular cable lock (what I use on my cams currently). You just have the Python to serve both purposes.
  10. Ill most likely take you up on that. Thanks for the info!
  11. Ive considered doing that, but I want stainless instead of blued.
  12. Actually, if you fall out of your tree stand and become paralyzed or die, it affects a heck of alot more people than just you, so its completely comparable to a BO law.
  13. Youd be surprised at the injury rate of Cheerleading. My fiance is a Varsity Cheer coach and some of the injuries I see and hear about are pretty serious. She had a girl fall off the top of a mount last year or the year before, head first onto the gym floor. That was a bad one, but they start getting worse with the girls that actually get thrown into the air. People make fun of cheerleaders all the time, but its a whole different sport today than it was when I was in high school.
  14. phade, those backyard bow holders are great! I got one a couple of years ago and love it.
  15. For the first time since we've been together, my fiancé didn't get me one single hunting related gift. All I had asked for were trail cams, but when I opened the box I figured had one or two init, there was an iPad2 in there! I was shocked and can't say that I mind there were no hunting gadgets this year. I also got a Sabres jersey, some led flashlights some new golf shirts and one of those wireless weather stations.
  16. I agree with Pygmy. Slug barrels are readily available for that gun.
  17. Lol I don't notify anyone I'm out unless the landowner requests it. If DEC or the cops are waiting at your car, there's no hassle as long as you are legal. As far as lights go, the blueish LED spots work good with no filter, or you can use red or green. Red really gets a good eye shine. Calling at night or baiting are good options.
  18. I would probably just make them for myself. I had an idea about making bike racks for pop-up campers and selling them a few years back. I decided against it while looking into the liability laws and guidelines. It's not worth it unless you start a legit business with insurance, etc. I would highly recommend researching it before you end up losing everything due to one mistake or bad weld.
  19. We were done opening gifts by 6am lol. Merry Christmas to you Pat
