  1. Ive seen deer that were spikes one year and 7 or 8 point the next. They dont all have 4 points for their first racks. That one is technically not a true spike though, you can see the beginning of a point on the right side in the first pic. It wouldnt be a legal point, but its there.
  2. Like I said, unless they are not following the rules. You didnt post the complete story, so how would anyone know? Or did I miss the story somehow?
  3. Thats what I have done as well Doc. I shoot spots instead of groups so I dont ruin so many fletchings. The first set of BHs I shot this year resulted in losing an arrow because I sliced half of a fletch off. Im kind of surprised by your findings though. I didnt think there would be so much variation between machined parts.
  4. Its not, just part of the TMA rules for new tree stands. There are no laws regarding used treestands.
  5. Paulie, Ill upload the pics from my server at home tonight.
  6. Ha! Lets get a shovel season opened up in NY!
  7. Well, the ENCON officer can only arrest or ticket someone for spotlighting if they dont follow the laws for spotlighting, as it is not illegal.
  8. I got a reply back from Lt Stoner today. Here it is..... "Hello John, by law the owner of the vehicle that hit the deer is entitled to the carcass. If they do want the deer it would be unlawful to take the tarsal gland without their permission. If the owner of the vehicle that his the deer does not want the carcass it would not be illegal for you to take just the tarsal glands. Lt. Tom Stoner"
  9. Been there, done that. Wanna see the pics? It was a Chrysler Sebring Coupe though, with 2 bows, a climber and some clothes in the truck with the deer.
  10. Do not wax your serving. You can get serving lube from these guys. http://www.waxstarinc.com/
  11. Sounds like something is wrong with it.
  12. I have no issues with mine as far as making it hard to get the empty case out, as soon as I break it open, the extractor does its job. I wouldnt want it to fling the brass out, as I keep them for reloading down the road. Maybe your uncles has a broken extractor, so its not working properly?
  13. If that deer was a 3 1/2, he had already gone through 2 active breeding seasons. Dont fool yourself, you will NEVER be able to control genetics in the herd that roams your hunting area. Well, unless you are hunting inside a 10 foot fence. Cool deer BTW. I also think that the deer in the original post is a 2 1/2. Just my opinion though.
  14. I figured half of you old folks would be senile by now and wouldnt remember how to shoot them stone age bows.
  15. I used to be like that and wait and wait, then not get a DMP. I stopped doing that a long time ago and get my license as soon as I can after they come out for the new season. Cut off was Oct 1, not Sept 30.
  16. Yeah it was way too steady to be a person holding the camera.
  17. Those are some great thoughts Doc, and I agree, kids should be educated about the outdoors and introduced to things like archery, etc in school. That would probably do some good as well. Bubba, you are right as well. People do need to get involved and stop with the BS that goes on now.
  18. Well you would think the extra cam would make up for the extra couple of weeks. Interesting.
  19. Yes, you can use one during any season that guns are open. Stupid, but it is what it is for now.
  20. Sounds like you are. Dont ruin too many fletchings shooting groups with BHs though lol. Ive shot just about every day since I got my new bow set up. Shot recently in my hunting clothes, and out of a couple of my stands. Been shooting out to 50 yards regularly so 30 yards is a chip shot and Im consistent with it.
