I do it once a month when Im shooting alot, like now. I have waxed mine twice since I bought it. I also used dental floss to clean the old wax out of them before I rewaxed them. I also lube the servings when I wax the string.

I was just shooting spots on my bag target tonight with the WB, and was having no problem hitting them at 20 and 30 yards. The spots are just a bit smaller than tennis ball size with only a couple random fliers that were less than an inch away from them. Good enough for me. If I were to go with a dropaway, it would be the HDX.

You should take a trip out this way Joe. Plenty of areas for that where I hunt.

I got lucky and was able to get Thanksgiving week off this year. I think downstate and Eastern regions of NY are going to be worse off than the Western half, which hasnt had nearly the amount and intensity of rain.

I saw your post with your cam stats from last year and so far this year. Just wondering though, are the stats you posted from last year the same number of days and/or the same time period?

No problem Elmo, they are a great resource. Email response time can go a week or more though. Especially this time of year.

Our Biggest Problem as NY Hunters...
WNYBuckHunter replied to sits in trees's topic in General Chit Chat
I wasnt specifically talking about you. I know a few guys that could care less, as they arent going to be in the hunting "fraternity" for much longer anyway. Every one of them always opposes every new thing that the DEC introduces or tries to introduce just because they think "their deer" are gonna get shot by some kid or that some new hunter is going to accidentally screw up their set. I dont understand why someone would be that way, I guess I wasnt raised that way, but they have every right to their opinions. I believe its going to be a blend of many different things that will end up helping. Things like new youth opportunities, lowering the hunting age, state land improvements, education on deer management to encourage participation in habitat improvement, possibly coming up with some sort of incentive for landowners to open up land to others, etc would be just some of the things that, put together, could help gain hunters as well as slow the loss of current hunters. I also think that there should be a separate wildlife bureau that handles just the wildlife issues. That bureau should be run by people with biology degrees and experience in the field, not politicians. Like I said, lots of small victories combined. -
In my area things are pretty much business as usual. Weve been getting a bunch of rain, but not enough to flood things or hamper any deer movement. The deer are starting to change up their feeding patterns a bit, hard mast is starting to fall, so they are eating that, beans are yellowing and becoming less attractive, corn is in full swing, winter wheat and rye is growing and soft mast is dropping as well. The bucks arent disappearing so much as they are just changing their patterns, and the bachelor groups are breaking up. I have been noticing more solitary bucks and less groups of them while glassing the last week or so. Im not sure that many acorns are falling here yet, but I havent been walking through the oaks in a week and a half either.

Our Biggest Problem as NY Hunters...

Im with Culver, I refuse to just give up as some others seem to do. I guarantee Ill leave more sportsmen in my wake than just one to replace my "number". Some just cant get over the fact that there is, and never will be one simple "magic bullet" to fix things, its going to take many changes and small victories to win the so called fight, and just leaving things the way they are now is not going to help. -
Bunch of dummies. I hope they throw the book at them, then beat them with it after they pick it back up. I doubt it though, they will probably get the usual hand slap and fine.

Yep, its one of my favorite pieces of meat now. Tried it for the first time last year, never knew what I was missing.

Just making people aware. BTW, why are you selling this gun and not using it for Elk and Mulies? -
Wonder how that powder burn felt. Dumbass.

Well, to begin with you are in AZ, and in order for someone to buy the gun and have it shipped to NY, they will have to go through a shop or someone with an FFL. You cannot just ship a gun to a non-licensed person in another state. http://www.atf.gov/firearms/faq/unlicensed-persons.html -
Actually that says that the system holds the blades closed during flight, not open after deployment.
-
Some people wont be able to upgrade to 9, as Windows XP cant use anything above IE8
-
I dont think the replacements for the new ones will fit on the old style rest. When I swap it out after this season, Ill let you know though.
-
Mechanicals are not illegal as long as the blades can move forward when you pull back on the arrow. The broadheads he used are fine. Congrats RangerClay! Nice bird!
-
You can email the DEC and ask for yourself. As long as it is not gathered into a pile, as in bush hogged then piled up with a rake or something, its fine.
-
Not the case. Again, the ONLY shotgun slugs you cannot shoot out of a smoothbore are sabots. Any slug can be used with a rifled barrel.
-
Lead is softer than steel, it conforms to the barrel, not the opposite.
-
I have an Encore and its a great gun. Mine is not a prohunter version, but they are very similar. I have mine in handgun configuration right now, but plan on a rifle barrel and stocks one of these days, I do deer hunt with mine, but havent taken a deer with it yet.

did you see todays news about the wild pigs ?

Talk to people down there, especially farmers. They cause millions of dollars in AG damage each year.
