  1. Then get out there and knock on doors to get permission or lease some land. I hunted mostly state land for years, and finally lucked out and got permission for some pieces of private land. Granted, I share the land with others, but everyone is in contact with one another and so far equipment theft hasnt been an issue. In any case, the only way to find a spot is to get out there and look. Youll get doors slammed in your face, people saying no quite a bit, maybe even be called names, but just be the bigger person and let it all roll off your back. Eventually youll find the right situation.
  2. You are wrong. At a hunting preserve, the regular DEC hunting laws do not apply.
  3. It says mid 50s and periods of rain. Low in the 40s. Ill be out there, probably in the ground blind.
  4. I have a buck smaller than that mounted. It was my first buck, and I always said Id mount my first one no matter what.
  5. I have a ground blind to set up still and one more stand. I also didnt get to wash my clothes this past weekend so I have that to get done too.
  6. I see them up this way from time to time. Most people slowing down think someone hit sombodys pet dog lol.
  7. I dont read a book or anything, just usually check out this site or a few others on my phone. Nothing too involved, as Im mostly watching for deer.
  8. I am setting my ground blind up on the edge of a corn/bean field that is a deer highway. If it rains, Ill be in there. If not, Ill be in a stand.
  9. Id say either you were mistaken about where they wer hunting or it was on a game preserve. You can shoot a deer with anything you want on a game preserve. I used to be a fan of that show, but it has really become one of the worst out there as far as being one big long commercial for pure out crap products (besides Excalibur). The Windicator? Please, that thing ranks yup there with the Deer View Mirror.
  10. Well, I know what caliber of deer is walking around my hunting area, and to me, a 2.5 is a deer that I am letting walk. The exception to that would be if he were already injured. Then, I would put him down out of mercy. If you look at the OP's trail cam pictures that he has posted this year, you will see the caliber of deer running around his area. If you dont care about letting the deer become mature and reach their potential, then by all means, shoot away, but dont sit there and call others silly for saying they would let him walk.
  11. I found 3 fresh rubs yesterday and a small scrape.
  12. He would get a pass from me because I have seen some of the other deer walking around your cameras.
  13. The deer just dont seem to always read the script on what trail they should come in on lol BTW, I thought I saw some scent free gun oil somewhere....here ya go. http://www.outers-guncare.com/products/chemicals/lubricants.aspx
  14. Just stop in at Red's and youll find some for sure.
  15. That might be the same deer as the pics from last year. Looks like a year of difference to me. No more points, but the increase in mass and tine length is there, and the body looks older than the ones in the pics from last year.
  16. What weight arrow is she shooting? My guess is its heavier than the 250gr that was able to achieve just under 200fps. We are probably talking about a bow that is well below 200fps, and its not the draw weight thats making it slow. Take a look at the Hoyt Ruckus, that bow with a max weight of 50lbs IBO's at 285fps, so with a hunting configuration, its gonna be in the 240 to 250fps range. Yes, I think she needs to aim low, but if you watch those videos, if she had aimed 4 inches lower, when the deer dropped she would have been lucky to spine it. The Mission Menace is pretty much comparable to my daughter's Diamond Nuclear Ice (though the NI is shorter A to A), and I would never suggest trying to shoot a deer with that thing. BTW, the video is pretty cool.
  17. Sorry, but those kids bows dont shoot very fast to begin with. That is basically a very extremely adjustable starter bow meant for getting a kid into archery, not really for hunting with. I have seen people put up numbers of @ 200 or less fps with the Menace with a 250gr arrow. Not a combo I would choose for deer hunting. Just my opinion though.
  18. I was at my dad's property today, and not a single apple on any of his trees. I keep hearing how good the apples are everywhere, not for me this year. Ive got alot more area to hunt this year though, so it wont be a big deal.
  19. Guns are already going off down here. Small game has been open for over a month. Just had guys out squirrel hunting right near where Ill be in a week from today. A bunch of Phesant release and hunting on the state land around the corner today as well.
  20. There are a couple of videos around here that Geno posted of the car. Do a search for Supra and Im sure youll find them.
  21. Im going to replace mine after this year.Im going to go with a Glen Del since the cores can be turned for more life and the replacements are readily available. I figure Ill be able to get one for under $100 after season is over or toward the tail end of it.
  22. Where do you see that Cabelas has it? Not on their website, doesnt even list Remington as a brand of ML they carry.
  23. I found another one that I had laying around, so I now have 2 available.
