Blaze orange hunting Beanie
WNYBuckHunter replied to zeke83's topic in Hunting Gear Reviews and Gear Discussions
I bought one for my daughter from Gander Mountain. Its like a micro fiber kind of material. I think it was $10 at the most. It works so good I wear it when she isnt there lol. -
Ahhhhh. Well then Newbies, keep on posting!
-
Ok, so if you hit the drop down menu next to your screen name at the top right, and choose 'My Settings', it takes you to the User CP. On the first tab that pops up, you should see 'Member Title' in the Profile Information section. Thats where you can customize it.
-
Oh, and you can change it. Notice mine is not one of the default ones. Let me see if I can find where you change it again.
-
Just keep participating, you wont be a Newbie for long. I think its around the 50th post mark that it will change.

Ive shot a couple of them (Z28 and Judge), they are nice bows and I might have bought one if the pro shop I go to was still a dealer. They have the best warranty out there. Lifetime transferable and if something goes wrong during the season, they will overnight a fully tuned replacement for you to use until yours is fixed.
-
They only have 1 model left that you can replace the biscuit on, and nobody locally stocks it, its only really available online. All of the new ones are similar to the Kill Shot.
-
Almost every single animal larger than a squirrel that I have shot, gun or bow, has kicked and squirmed for a bit before dying, even with what most would call a perfect shot. It happens and is normal.
-
First, the 15 seconds is how long the video went after the pig went down. If you remove the replays of the shot and the advertizing, theres about 15 to 20 seconds of footage after the shot. Second, take the "hard to watch" comment in its entirety (instead of yet again, cherry picking 3 words out of it to manufacture some kind of point) and answer the question. Third, I see the author disabled embedding of the video. If you click on the link it gives you another to be able to play it on YouTube directly.

BS. I already covered the points you said in my earlier statement which said I dont find my shots acceptable in anything more than a tennis ball sized area, not a dinner plate sized area as most people find acceptable. If I cant have my shots tightened up to that size before the season comes around, I wouldnt hunt. Like I said, you took part of my statement and spun it out of context then expected me to respond. Your next spin tactic will probably involve mixing the long shots thread with this one and youll start talking about 50 or 60 yard Texas Heart Shots.

HAHAHA, funny we both thought of the helicopter thing

How typical of you Dave. Its pretty clear that I am not defending this guy, but if thats what you want to think, then go right ahead. For all of you that are saying 15 seconds of flopping around is hard to watch, or is unethical, I ask again if its any more unethical than a deer that takes longer than that to bleed out or asphyxiate on its own blood after a lung shot? Seeing as we are on the subject of ethically killing pigs, what say you about this? Is it ethical? I hear pigs squealing in misery.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xiHmYsyVniE

Did I say that I condone a Texas Heart Shot?
-
So how exactly do you site it in so it can aim at the same object that your site is aimed at at multiple distances?
-
The DEC regs say you cant have a laser mounted to the bow that points at the target for hunting. There was a question about if that included range finders.
-
The one I have is the Kill Shot, no replacement biscuit for it. I havent been able to find the old style locally for the second season now and I dont like the idea that I cant get the replacements locally if I need to. I also dont like the idea of putting another mechanical piece on the bow, just more that could go wrong. Ill see what I can find, but Im probably going to bite the bullet.

I sure hope it tastes good.I was looking at the Whisker Biscuit rest I bought for my new bow this year, and it looked like the biscuit part is not replaceable like the original ones were. I did a little searchig and sure enough, Trophy Ridge changed the design and now whenever the whiskers wear out, you have to buy a completely new rest. To hell with that crap, the thing cost me almost $60, Im not going to spend that every year (at least). Ive been looking at full containment drop away rests (which I said I wouldnt do, thus Ill be eating crow), and looked at the Trophy Ridge Revolution, but have heard about alot of failures with them, so I think Im going to give the QAD Ultrarest HDX a shot. Its a little pricey, but its a solid design thats been around for quite a while, and it gets great reviews.

Awesome, great info to know. Thanks for posting what you found!

I know he is.

My comment on bad shots was directed only to those that claim they have never made a bad shot on an animal. My comment in the other thread still stands that a Texas heart shot, if done right, is perfectly capable of dropping a deer in its tracks and killing it just as quickly as a direct heart shot. Thats all, Im not advocating that everyone should shoot a deer in the ass.
-
I repeat, you cant judge anything about how long the guy "let the animal suffer" because you are getting less than 30 seconds of the entire ordeal. For all we know, that pig was finished with another shot off right after the video stopped, and it died in less than 30 seconds from the original shot. How the hell is that letting the animal suffer any longer than what many of you feel would be an ethical shot? Ive hit deer in the lungs before and had them run for alot longer than 30 seconds before they expired. You guys are just doing way too much assuming. The only things that can be taken away are that the guy chose what some (including myself) feel was not the best shot, he was an idiot for the laughing and letting the dog go, and although it wasnt the best shot it did put the animal on the ground. The rest is nothing but conjecture, intent on shot placement, ethics included. Oh, and for those that say you have never made a bad shot, you are either full of it or havent hunted long enough. It happens to everyone at some point.

I always have a steel cable (coated with plastic), wrapped around the tree and through the mount or other holes on the trail cam, with a padlock on it keeping the camera secured to the tree. I leave i plainly visible so most people that might come across it, will leave it alone. I havent had an issue yet.
-
I wonder if a fiber optic pin minus the fiber would do something similar to that.
-
Why would I bother to reply to something you are talking about that was taken out of context? Typical spin BS, followed by a weak insult, your specialty.

Good points Culver. After watching the video again, I agree, this wasnt even a Texas heart shot, it was a shot through the rear quarter that hit the spine.
