  1. We have the airshow going in Rochester this weekend, which is one of my favorite things to go see. Im a pretty big aircraft buff, and have been since I was little. My uncle was a mechanic in the Air Force, and was lead mechanic for the first wing of F15s put into service, so I used to hear about it when I was a kid, probably what got me interested. It just so happens that my fiance's uncle used to fly in the Thunderbirds, and is now in a pretty high position at the Niagara Falls AFB. Whenever hes around we shoot the breeze about aircraft, which is always great. Every year I go to at least one airshow, and when it comes to Rochester it makes it easy on me lol. This year the airshow is hosting the Blue Angels, and I had a little time yesterday to go out and watch them practice. Heres a couple of quick videos I got with my cell phone, Ill have some better ones over the weekend. Blue Angels in Rochester NY 7-14-11 Blue Angels overhead pass Rochester NY 7-14-11
  2. I think they should use that chubby guy T-Bone, who appears on some of the Realtree Monster Buck DVD's as host of this DVD. It would be funny as heck to see him sweating amongst all those pretty "racks"! Probably would be a good idea to have paramedics on standby while they shoot the DVD! Just might be a little more than the big boy can handle! HAHAHA, Im not going to say anything bad about Travis, Ive met him and hes one of the nicest people youd ever meet.
  3. Just download Adobe reader to view the attachment. It doesnt give you any details on speakers or details. They might have it on their website though. traditionsarchery.net
  4. You want "horn porn"? Do a search for 'Racks calender'
  5. This topic has been moved to NY Hunting Calendar / Events. [iurl]http://huntingny.com/forums/index.php?topic=4240.0[/iurl]
  6. I dont think that a lighted nock or sight would qualify as an "electronic device". I believe they are talking about bow mounted range finders and things like that.
  7. Well, the problem with this country is that it's too much of a credit society. Government, corporations, people, will buy things on credit and sooner or later they don't have the money to pay for it. They think they will be able to pay for it all, but then discover they can't. If everyone only used cash, I would bet that the vast majority would not put themselves in the holes that they do. I don't know for sure, but I would bet that China is way more of a cash society than we are, thus they are prospering. Show me the cash, and you will get the goods is probably the way they do business over there, unlike I will give you the goods and you can pay me in 4 months to a year like we do here. I started paying cash for everything about two years ago and haven't looked back. No credit card debt and no car payments. Sometimes I have to wait a little longer to buy something I want, but when I do finally buy the item I generally get a good deal when the person on the other end sees cash instead of a card. I did that with a $1,500 bedroom set and when they saw cash they gave me $150 off the top and free delivery. It's their company policy to give deals to cash customers. Too bad most people want instant gratification. I cut my last credit card up 4 years ago and havent looked back. Paid my car off last year and will be 100% debt free within the next year (unless we buy a house). Feels good to actually own everything I have.
  8. My setements exactly. Seems like every time I turn around I hear "you gotta get a drop away rest" from someone that just spent big bucks buying and tuning one. I get the "youll gain 2 to 4 fps with a drop away" from some as well. So what? Do you really think that makes a difference at 40 yards or less? I end up with nice groups with arrows touching with my WB. I never recommend anything else, and I will probably never shoot any other rest. Simple, full containment and accurate. What else could you ask for?
  9. The number of government jobs needs to be cut, and in addition, government jobs need to either be decent pay with great benefits OR great pay with decent benefits, not both great pay and great benefits. Those are not the only changes that need to happen, but they would be a start. Cutting unfilled positions and low paying positions is not going to do anything other than look like a good idea.
  10. Nice. You might want to trim those branches a bit or re-aim your camera so the leaves dont set it off every time the wind blows.
  11. Mine are usually set to the lowest power, and then turned up when needed.
  12. Im kind of a gadget guy that likes any advantage I can get, well most of the time anyway. My guns are no exception to that, so for my long range guns, I put scopes on that can get me as good of a view of my target as I can afford. Now my slug gun on the other hand, has a pretty low powered scope on it, as my range with it is pretty limited. I also have my lever action, which still has iron sights, but if I put a scope on it, it would be a lower power scope similar to what my slug gun has. Now my TC Encore handgun, that is getting a new scope soon (the cheap-o NC Star that came on it has got to go), and it will get something in the mid range on it, probably a 3-9. Where I see the real bulk in scopes though, isnt from the variable power, but the objective lens. For my handgun, its probably going to be under a 30mm lens, my slug gun and regular rifles get something with a 32mm lens, which I find to be a good size for hunting at any time but at night. My predator gun though, got a 50mm only because it gets used at night. Ive tried 40mm scopes at night, and it just didnt do it for me, but the 50mm lets a ton of light in, and works well for me. I admit, its big, and bulky, but for how well it does, I can live with it. For me, its all about the application.
  13. Well if you had said that in the original post, there would have been no confusion. BTW, tax rates out there are on the low(er) side. If its only a few minutes from Harriet Hollister, then its only about 5 - 10 mins from my place. Great hunting out there, I looked at a small lease down just south of the park last year, just wasnt what I was looking for. Nice area though, if you could get a good deal on the land it would be a decent area for a camp.
  14. I actually said pull it from the classified section, not delete it all together. Sorry if you got confused. Im sure the agent would want their contact info posted if they are trying to make a sale. Thats what a classified is all about.
  15. I said I would move the thread because this is the classified section, not the lets discuss land prices section. If you cant post the advertisement for the land where people that are interested in it can get info on how to buy it, it doesnt belong in this section. It has nothing to do with my opinion on what the price is. :
  16. It all depends on how much swamp and what the terrain is like. Unless most of the land is buildable, its not worth that price per acre, and no developers are building housing tracts out in that area. ;D Again, any link to the info on the land? If not, Im going to have to pull it out of the classified section.
  17. Ive gotten the same way, would rather watch one of the predator shows or one of the D&DH shows that talks about tactics and other aspects of deer and hunting rather than just show the typical hunter in a stand shooting the big buck stuff. Lee & Tiffany have become completely obnoxious to me, no matter how she looks. Get In The Game is a pretty good show.
  18. Thats why I bought a 4-16, low enough power for shorter range shooting but high enough power for long shots at woodchucks, etc. I shoot a ton of targets with it as well, mostly at 200+ yards, so the high power comes in real handy. As far as how large the scope is, go hunting at night and look through it, then tell me that large objective isnt needed.
  19. Ive been to a couple of parties in a house just down from the second house you posted. This one had a trolley down the cliff and a guest house on the bottom. Insane amounts of money.
  20. Toruk, before you buy the Bushnell, take a look at the Vortex Crossfire line. I have one on my Remmy 700, its the 4-16x50 with illuminated Mil-dot reticule. Lifetime warranty and its super clear and crisp. I use it at night and it gathers plenty of light. I got a great deal on mine at swfa.com and I couldnt be happier with it. http://www.vortexoptics.com/product/vortex-crossfire-4-16x50-ao-riflescope-mil-dot-illuminated-reticle
