maybe it was a complete miss and the arrow went under the folliage and leaves.Like when you miss the target when practicing.Since you were in a ground blind and shooting level with the ground it is possible.Knoow any one with a metal detector?Just a thought.

Well this time of year i try to mimick the sounds i hear in the woods.Which is not much.So i just sit quietly most of the time.but i cant resist when i have a grunt tube and i am getting restless.So when i do use my grunt tube i usually just do a doe grunt.A blaaaat blat.And then just sit silently for 30 mins or even way longer.Some times in the middle of the day i will do some fawn bleats and try to get a doe to investigate.I had one come out the bedding one time and run circles around me grunting like a pig.It was tooo funny. I will change up my calling in about two weeks when i see more chasing going on.I dont want to sound like a hunter trrying to mimic a deer to a smart deer right now. What about you guys.What kind of calling tactics do you do right now?Middle of October. And what calling tactics do you do after the chasing goes on?

cool.two more weeks to bow hunt.Hope they keep gun opener the same though.Actually move it back a week and i wouldn't complain.Thats just me though.

I took one to the butcher.Luckily it was a slow time for him.Begining of the season and i had the only one in.But when i went to pick it up his shop was full.So i don't know if it was all our deer or not in those bags.I do say i did a lott of meat back.Two big black trash bags full.Alott of meat.About the same amount i got of my buck from last year that i did myself. I did my first one last year and its pretty easy.I wont be spending the money on a butcher for at least till im way to old to do it my self.Hopefully by then one of my boys is still around and in to hunting still.Then they can do it for me. My uncles buddy has one of those comercial grade grinder with like a 2 hp motor on it.They do a whole deer into burger and it dumps right into buckets.Thats the way to go right there.

I havn't seen any rubs or scrapes on our property.Except for 1 descent rub in some thick bedding directly behind my house.Pretty close actually. Every year about this time we have a ton of rubs.the rub lines usually never change yr after yr.I havnt seen any thing.it is strange. Do you think it is the weather? Or is it possible that a portion of the woods have been being cut into fire wood might have chased out the bucks? It is just strange that there isnt any.Everyone else is talking about all the chasing and all the massive rubs they have seen and making me jelious.LOL. I havn't put much pressure on the woods my self.Just hung some stands about 3 wks ago is all. My trail cams only have a pic of 1 doe.And i jumped a spike about 3 weeks ago when i was going to hang a stand. What do ya think?They just havnt started chasing much here or something. Im in Oswego County.

i said i was going all the way till i got up and let my dog out at 5:00 am.Wind was gusting.Crawled back in bed and spooned with the wifey.Thought nah.had a game this morning any how so if i did get a deer i would have had to miss my boys last foot ball game.Sunday needs to get here!!!

Did you look really close for tracks and poop.Pay attn to all the vegitation.Look for saplings that have been chewed of at the tops from deer.Those will tell you if there has been deer there.And how much they frequent that area. Go down the edge of that ridge a little ways and look for a trail that runs perpindicular with the ridge.Deer will walk the opposing side of the wind direction along it.They know how wind drafts work.Crazy how smart those critters are. They bed on side of hills alot so when still hunting ridges always hunt the wind and slowly peek of them but you are pobably already busted if you are come up with wind blowing wrong direction.Walk the ridge edge like a deer would.And hunt down it.

i used to drink a lott.I dont drink any more but when i did i would pack 1 beer with me to drink when on watch.Never was impaired but liked to have a drink and relax.Then after about an hour after sitting there after my budwiser was gone i was doing everything possible not to fall asleep.Beer is a depressant,remember.So i didnt carry 1 with me all the time cause i didn't want to fall asleep on watch. Now i bring a Red Bull or a Monster.

at least it wasnt when you were on watch.I have the neighbors come crashing through the woods on his noisy as quad all the time when i sit on watch just outside my bedding area on my property.I think they do it on purpose.Just to piss me off.

ill be in stand at 6.00.Only have till 9 am.Got a football game to be at.All day sunday.

it could be 90 and windy.I would still be in the woods.might be in the nude with a bug tammer suit on but id be there.

deer love to bed on the side of hills.The opposite side the wind is blowing from.that way they can watch down hill and smell what is coming from behind.Kinda like a human looking down hill for a deer right.You gotta think like the deer.I have seen this many times with a little snow on the ground.You can see more beds on the side of a hill when the leaves fall than in thick crap. Watch out hunting ridges cause of upward wind drafts.When the wind blows across the top of a ridge it will draw wind up from the bottom of the valley.Kind of like when driving in your truck and the wind blows over the cap and you get the air coming upward on the back window.Ever see a can swirl around in the back of the truck while driving down the road?It will do this and swirl your scent around. Valleys and ridges can be hard to hunt.Sitting on the top of a ridge can work to your favor but you got to do your homework.You can easialy be busted long before you know you have.

funny how many of you say you go on the site while hunting.Phones have come a looooong way.Can browse the web and look at your location through gps and google earth from a phone while sitting on watch.I just have a cheezy phone.no internet here.or books.i love the nature to much.Some of the stuff you see those critters do is cool as hell.

some people like the challenge.If i had one i would use it in certian stands dduring gun.And my gun in other stands.I don't believe they should be alowed in bow season.Its supposed to be hard in my opinion.Just allow dissabled people use them in reg bow. Any how.if some one gets caught using them in bow season i hope they lose their hunting privlalige.
