  1. Biggest ones I've seen had the head at least half the size of a football. Two of them were out in a pond either fighting or getting it on. The noise of there shells smacking together sounded like a 2x4 hitting a tree.
  2. Seen 6-7 along the edge of roads this morning. This one was across from my driveway laying her eggs next to a cemetery fence.
  3. Damm lucky it was only one pellet. Looks like the deek took most of the pattern.
  4. Ok, that makes sense. I seen that marker, and the passenger pointing.
  5. Not a boat guy. What caused the boat to whip like that? Didn't see any other wake.
  6. So do I. Used to get a dozen or so partridge every year just walking through the woods. Even got several with the bow when I was on stand waiting for deer. It's been yrs since I've heard drumming, let alone seen, a partridge or cheepers.
  7. I more excited about seeing these cheepers then turkey poults.
  8. Was going to my next client to mow, and in the middle of the road was a partridge letting her brood cross. Didn't get a pic, but this is the first partridge I've seen in my area in probably 8 yrs. Used to hear drumming during spring turkey and even bow season, but haven't heard drumming for yrs.
  9. Was trimming some trees today, and was on the tractor heading to my brush pile, and there's a fawn not 20 yrds from the pile. Little bugger could hardly stand, so was probably born this morning as it takes about 7hrs before they can walk Needless to say, I now have two brush plies.
  10. I realize the caliber/weapon, and game targeted has a lot to with it, but what's the farthest/shortest shot you've made? Mine, deer, 3 yards with the bow. Farthest, deer, 375 verified by a range finder using a 7mm.08.
  11. The red mist society. I'm a member in good standing.
  12. I hunted 4 days. Missed on opening day. Then took a 3-4 yr old on the 3rd. Took my grandnephew out twice. First time he got a jake, the second time he passed a iffy shot at another jake. Wish I had more time, but May is stupid busy for a landscaper.
  13. So how many days did you hunt this spring season?
  14. That's what it looked like, but wanted to make sure. They definitely look good.
  15. How are they assembled? Looking forward to the finish pic's.
  16. Little over 5 hrs left till the fat lady sings. Good luck.
  17. I'm sure a few clutches of eggs have been ruined by the horrible weather we've had. Early hatchings are definitely in for a challenging time.
  18. Breeding started around mid April, so it's getting close to that time. I've seen a couple hens in different fields today just standing and scanning the area. Very possible they had little ones around. Hopefully the wet weather will let up.
  19. A "sellers" gun means, there's a prize for the seller who's name is on the back of the ticket. After all the prizes for the public are drawn, one last ticket is drawn for the winner of the sellers prize. The name on the back of the ticket is the seller, and winner. Sounds like someone messed up and read the front of the ticket instead. Club should have eaten it, and learned from there mistake.
  20. Fingers crossed for those still out there. I'm done for the season, so this thread is my only fix.
