  1. Wear your bunny suit when you do. Might as well do it right.
  2. Get a peacock call, and video yourself calling in that thing. Lol
  3. I've heard that works. Definitely worth a try. Thanks...
  4. Very similar symptoms he's having. Can't believe how fast it went from not feeling well, to calling 911. Thanks everyone, for your kind words.
  5. For the past week or so, my nephew has been down and out. First hospital, took his temp and said he had the flu. Friday evening, he was worse. His wife took him to a different hospital. Bunch of blood work and other tests, but results wouldn't be in until Tuesday. Last night he couldn't talk, or hardly stand. Ambulance took him into hospital#3. They finally figured out he has encephalitis, a infection in the brain. Doc's are extremely confident it was caused by a tick bite, and hopefully after a few days in the hospital, he'll be back to normal. Damm scary stuff.
  6. Took my grandnephew and his buddy out this morning. Had a exciting morning. Had a tom roosted about 80 yrds out. And two different groups of jake's a couple hundred yards out. The tom gobbled every 30 seconds or so. They Jake's not so often until they hit the ground, then the two groups tried to out do each other. They met about 60yrs out and a fight erupted. The look on the boys faces was priceless, lol. The tom didn't fly down until almost 6, and never gobbled again. Was hoping he was working in silent, but never seen him. Around 7, two of the jakes stuck in and busted us. No shot opportunity though. Called them back with aggressive purring and gobbling, but Kayden wasn't comfortable taking the shot as they were walking a little fast and he couldn't get a solid bead on em. They couldn't stop talking about the hunt on the ride home. What a way too end the season.
  7. I'd look into the OK Joe's. There's a few mods that need to be done, but there not too difficult. Lots of info online about them. I also looked into getting one local made, the cost savings wasn't enough for me to take the chance. There's more to it than just welding stuff up. The stack size has to be determined by the size of the cook chamber and the fire box opening to the cook chamber needs to be calculated. If stuff is off, the pit won't flow properly and your going to struggle with the fire. Probably getting better taste or just frustrated trying to run the thing. Established pitmakers have all that figured out, and build according. Wasn't about to shell out 3-4k on a pit only to hope it worked properly. Not to say a local guy couldn't figure it out, but the risk wasn't worth it. If I had a pit I knew worked, and they could copy it, different story. My pit holds temps within 3° from right to left. I absolutely love it. I'm no professional, and mostly cook for family, but I often do whole hog cooks for a little extra cash.
  8. Mine is a Bubba grills out of GA. Lang, medowcreek, are two other nice rigs, but I warn you, they aren't cheap. Add shipping, and it hurts even more.
  9. Memorial day BBQ. Decided to use the reverse flow stick burner today. Got up at this morning at 3:00am to fire her up. 12# pork but for pulled pork, 2 racks of St Louis ribs, stuffed shrooms and jalapenos and baked beans. Pork but hit the stall about hr ago at 163°. Wrapped it and the ribs at the same time. Ribs are getting the 3-2-1 method. Using cherry and hickory for this cook.
  10. Please remember those that are serving, have served, and those that paid the ultimate sacrifice. Honor them, as what they gave, and continue to give, allow us our freedoms today. Thank you Dad, uncle Don, uncle, Ed, uncle Ted, and uncle Joe, for your service in WWII.
  11. It's been yrs since I've gone froggin. Thanks for the memories Skillet.
  12. I knew what it was the instant I seen it. Had a few cars/trucks with foot operated high beam switch. Always seemed to go bad and lights were stuck on high. Lol
  13. That's fantastic. What a way to stick with it. A day both of you never forget. Congrats.
  14. Around 7, My dad gave me a Benjamin pump .177 cal. It was all brass. Wish I still had that pellet gun. Pic is one I found online. Cool pellet gun.
  15. It's possible they spotted him when he walked in late depending on how close he was to there roost.
  16. The only correct method is there isn't one. I've seen toms walk through 100 yrds of 5' tall reed grass, gobbling all the way. You would think it would be the last place you'd see one. No way to see a predator.
  17. Thanks TF. leafsnap has confirmed it is honey locust.
  18. Well it seems honey locust has thorns too. I've cut down tons of black locust trees. My trees have a much shorter trunk. But I think were on the right track thinking locust. A Google search also shoes thornless honey locust.
  19. Black locust has the thorns. I'll Google honey locust.
  20. Once it fully leafs out, I'll check it out
  21. I've got two of these trees in my yard. They are just starting to leaf out. Any ideas?? The leaf cluster in the pic is only about a 1 1/2" long as it started to leaf out only a few days ago.
  22. I've had turtle soup a couple times. Wasn't bad.
  23. Lol, lot of my hunting spots I need to walk through fields. Sucks setting up soaked from the waste down.
  24. Turkeys will frequent tall fields regularly. Called many a bird out of tall fields. You can also use the grass to your advantage. Toms will sometime hang up when they think they should be seeing the hen. The tall grass forces him to come closer.
