  1. You should be ashamed of yourself. How do you sleep at night? I'll give you $1500 to take it off your hands and clear your conscience. Because I care... Ok. I hit the wrong quote button.
  2. Correct. .50 cal. I've take several with my 7mm08 as well and they don't have as big a hole in them compared to the muzzle loader.
  3. 4 hunters, 4 deer. Two does, two bucks. Great end to the season.
  4. Yes a cure, as my recipe has cure #1. If it wasn't a emersion brine/cure, but a dry rub brine/cure, I would add several days. The recipe I directed him to is a emersion brine/cure.
  5. Seeing your doing the inner tenders, they will cure in a few days, especially if you have a brine needle and inject them with the brine solution. Think you'll be fine with a 3-4 day cure. The backstraps would take 5-7 if you inject.
  6. You do realize, that curing will change the texture a little, but change the taste quite a bit.
  7. I've done the same thing a few times, only to be told, well that's what we call em. Lol
  8. It's on page 14. look for the thread what's in your smoker tonight.
  9. Well he's thinking about having this for Xmas, so it's definitely not going to be a dry cure like a dried sausage which uses cure # 2 and needs to have the proper humidity.
  10. Check out my post on the last page of "what's in your smoker today". My recipe is posted.
  11. Won't take a month. Tenderloin is not that thick. My roasts only take 14 days.
  12. I cure the individual roast from the hind frequently to make venison pastrami.
  13. Heard the squirrels going nuts on the other side of the thicket. Few minutes later, she stepped out. Was her last. Weighted 40#
  14. I've seen broadheads, bullets in shoulders. Buddy got a buck with a broadhead embedded in a bucks skull. Seen legs that were broken and healed crooked. Even a couple that had a leg that was missing at the first joint. All healed over and doing just fine. One missing a hood also. But this was a first for me. I can't imagine the pain that deer felt when it's junk got robbed. I skinned him out today, and didn't find any other wounds or injury's.
  15. My cousin and I are calling it a transgender deer. We're not judging. I'm sure it will taste the same.
  16. Yesterday was fill the freezer day. Took this I thought was a doe, but after recovery, he had lost his horns. Not unusual, right?? Well, lifted the leg to commence field dressing, and there was a large bald spot and no pecker, or nuts. They we're gone. There was a small hole and little tube that is what was left of his pecker.
  17. Fantastic.... Congrats on sticking with it and on a great buck.
  18. Your regular season tag is a either or tag during late bow/ML. And the xbow is considered a ML as far as NY is concerned so your good to go there too.
  19. Guess he's getting more than his 15 min of Fame. What a POS.
  20. I've got a heritage 22 cal. In my truck. It's a Ruger single six knockoff so it's worth little money. Think I pd $99 at Dick's few yr ago. Stays in the truck. I do carry a S&W shield .40 when out and about.
  21. I took a doe like yours back in the 80's. Little longer spikes, but like yours, in velvet.
