    Im in chenango county and its not like it used to be. I have a 30acre lease but 90% of the time i hunt stateland. Opening day last year there was 3 trucks on 1100 acres. Went to another piece later in the day to try and fill my doe tags and that is 750acres and that only had 4 trucks. I know of spots that get hit hard in the area looks like a pumpkin patch but not as bad as 10 years ago. You have some knuckle heads anywhere you go but most of the people i run into are decent.

    I agree when i was in my stand yesterday usually by now theres just a little beech tree here and there with leaves left. But pretty much every tree was still holding leaves and all the understory was nice and green. Apple orchard at the lease has standing water in it looks like a little pond right now have been there for 5 years never seen it before. Just be nice if it would not rain for a sunday or saturday night so i can get out and not get soaking wet.

    I will say that while i was sitting this morning there is still alot of green still in the woods for the end of october.

    Nothing this morning. Thats it till crossbow. I figured ide see something drove rt 12 from oxford to earlville saw atleast 20 deer. Then from earlville to lebanon another 10. Oh well alot of scrapes and rubs showed up in 2 weeks. Made a mock scrape see if they like it before next weekend.

    Up getting ready and heading to lease should be a good morning. My times getting very limited so i will not be picky today.

    Me and my buddy waited until 3 to get out didnt really come down hard by us. We made it a scouting day. Walked about 3 miles saw 5 deer and my buddy missed a little doe. Off to the lease in the am.

    Congrats to him and tell him thank you for wanting to protect the country. Second tell him not to get any tattoos of anything marine corp. My BIL did this after my dad who had 3 brothers in told him it wouldnt be in his best interest until he graduated boot camp. Yea he went with the globe and anchor tattoo on his arm and forgot to remove his nipple rings. All he said is they let him know he screwed up. Lol

    I do not have this issue of being to tall. However my best friend is 6'2 and skinny as a rail and he kills most of his deer this way. Ive watched him walking to me and stalk down deer. He picks trees and creeps from one to the other slowly looking around the trunks. Never stops in the open he always has something between him and his destination with shooting holes picked out at every tree he stops at. And the thicker it is the slower he goes. I tend to use binocs alot when im still hunting just to make sure i dont miss any sort of movement.

    Ive got no problem taking guys onto pieces i hunt and helping them get setup. But i dont give out my better spots anymore. Ive taken guys out to my better spots and the next week they have 4 or 5 guys going into them. Public land not much i can do. but dont move in on spots you didnt scout. Just that being respectful of the persons spots. Theres 1 piece of stateland i put alot of time into and theres 3 groups that mainly hunt it. We all have 3-4 hunting buddies and there is an unwritten rule between us that you dont go into their area.

    Nothing this am. Well saw 2 pulling up on to the stateland road and a nice buck down by my parents heading towards the stateland. Hoping he makes his way towards a secluded piece of stateland i hunt. Hope everyone had a good day in the woods.

    Woke up late to get to lease on time. But getting gear on and heading to a ridge on stateland they use to come off of private and land and to bed in a big swamp. No nephew or daughter today so heading out for first solo sit of the year. Good luck to everyone today.

    Ladder. I do have a climbers that i use on stateland. But once opening day of gun is done i tend to be on the ground with good vantage points.

    Yesterday 7m madison county me and the nephew found 2 scrapes(these 2 are always the first opened on this piece of property) and a bunch of little rubs. 3 does we saw were just feeding along. Spike was on a mission but i dont think he was looking for a date.

    Well we had a good morning nothing down. We had 3 does come in down wind and ended up busting us. My nephew now knows when sit still means sit still. They were just about to commit to walking out of our wind when he moved his foot and off they went. So i told him its ok just a learning expeirnce his first time hunting and had deer come in. Well about 40 mins later i had just put my phone down and we had a spike trotting straight down the hill at us. So i had him stand up and get ready. Spike gets to 25 he starts shaking,i told him to breath. Now spike is at 15 yards quarting towards us and locks brakes. Look over and my nephews arrow is just bouncing off the rest. Spike runs off and my nephew just looks at me with that look of. Oh this is buck fever. He shook for the next hr just laughing at himself. Best hunt ever. Take that moment on his face anyday of the week. Picture was taken right before i noticed the spike.

    Getting into shower dropping some stuff off at the new house. Then picking up nephew and trying to see if we can get him his first deer. Good luck to those going out.

    Hope some deer dropped today. Ive been running around this weekend trying to get crap done the bank wants fixed on our hopefully new home. Getting out tomorrow morning with the nephew hoping we get to see something he hasnt seen one in 3 sits this year.

    We are in the process of hopefully buying closing on our new place shortly. Well our current house is an older single wide with some extra additions. My wifes aunt is buying it for next to nothing. Trying to help her out. Well she doesnt want the pellet stove so i sold it to a friend and i want to put these in instead. Just 2 maybe 3. Just trying to figure out if its the right move.(she doesnt want electric or pellet stove. When we bought it all of the old furnace was gone). Anyone have any info on them?

    This was her most of the morning until that go showed nd then her head was on a swivel until we got down. She said shes hooked now. Thank you miss doe that came through.

    We jumped one on the way in. Otherwise nothing but geese and other little critters. Sitting until 10 then heading home for the day. Well big doe just came through at 60 while i was typing this and pulled the dissapearing trick.

    Showering then off to the woods for my first sit. One of my friends got a nice 9 last night eating acorns at 5pm.

    Didnt get out to hunt but took my 20month old son and 13yr old daughter out to finish a stand setup so i can take the oldest sunday morning for a bow sit. Shes trying to get into so i put a hang on next to a ladder stand. Saw alot of sign. Hand full of scrapes and rubs and i was only 70 yards of the road.(quick quite entrance for the kids to hunt) 20month old was confused why dad was in a tree. Congrats to all that got one. First sit tomorrow night. Wont get anything done tomorrow morning at work.
