Just great, they're forecasting at least 6" of snow on Tue into Wed here on LI. >

It disrespects everything that hunters have fought for over the years and still continue to fight for. That's the right to keep on hunting!! I've had the whoohoo feeling and I stand up for gun rights and for freedom of speech. Youtube isn't only freedom of speech, it is also freedom of stupidity!! If these guys had any respect for hunters and themselves they wouldn't have posted that video. This video is exactly the type of thing that anti's eat up. Not only do we need to fight the anti's we need to fight our own? I use the term "our own" very loosely for these two jerks.

I believe the "it" is the fact that videos of this nature have no place in our sport. Just because these two idiots have no respect for the sport, they are in NO WAY a representation of those of us that care for this sport and hold it to very near and dear to our hearts. They made a video and that's fine...but it should have never been released to the public!! I don't consider these guys hunters. A true hunter wouldn't act in that manner and that's because they/we respect the sport and the quarry we persue.

Geno. Delaware county is a great place to hunt and fish with some beautiful country. I own a place there and this info is from what I've heard. The county is the biggest watershed in the state and the land is owned by NYC. The original agreement is that NYC could have the watershed to protect NYC drinking water as long as they agreed to pay the taxes on the property they owned. In two years this agreement ends. At that time NYC has the option to grieve their taxes and/or apply for tax exempt status. If this happens and their properties are pulled from the tax rolls, the property owners will have to pick up the slack in the lost tax revenue. Which means increased taxes for everyone in Delaware county. Again this is what I've heard and you may want to take this info in consideration.

Mountain Lions aren't on that list either, but go ahead and shoot one and see what happens to you. : Although Elk and Mt. Lions aren't listed there is no season for them because there "aren't" any in NY. Moose are officially protected because there is a viable population here in NY.

Hogs aren't protected and Elk are. Hogs are destructive and change the ecosystem by destroying natural plants and forage.

This beautiful call was made by Kehl Hilbert, owner of Mornings Glory Custom Calls. The wood is Corrugata Burl which is stunningly beautiful and quite expensive. The call has not been hunted with, only an occasional practice call. Sounds great and hopefully it'll serve someone very well. Asking $45 shipped to your door. If interested please PM me. There is an O-ring with the call but I removed it for the pics. Sorry a about the pics being a little blurry.

Matt. Don't waste your time!! A wise man once told me that "it's better to educate than to irritate." I'm afraid, in this case, you'd only accomplish the latter!! :

I really hope that they managed to attract more vendors/exhibitors this year. The last time I was there, three years ago, it was pathetic!! I walked through the entire show in 15 minutes!! All I remember hearing was the vendors complaining about the price of the booths and that the crowd was small. Talked to a couple of them and they said they weren't coming back anymore. I'll probably go again just to see if has gotten any better.
-
And we wonder why we keep losing ground to the antis!! ???
-
never got that either... I always understood that it was because the rich and famous don't really mind the hunting during the week when they aren't out there. But on the weekend the east end belongs to them, and you the old saying about money talks!! I can't verify that it is the case but it sure sounds like that's the case!! :

Was that huge "buck" shot in the Hancock area? There was a huge 7 point doe taken in Hancock that field dressed 210lbs some years back. The guy that shot it is/was from New Hyde Park. This year a hunter shot a 14 point doe in Walton.

I see we're possibly in for another major storm on Tue and Wed of next week. > Early predictions are over a foot of snow!!

Without debate these topics would be pretty boring. However, there's no place for the name calling and/or personal attacks.

Could the farmer have shot it and let it lay?

DOING A CONTROVERSAL ESSAY FOR ENGLISH CLASS

Can you use a shotgun for small game and furbearers as well? using buck shot, not slugs... I can't confirm that you can, but according to the Hunting Syllabus there are open seasons in Westchester for certain small game species and thus I'm assuming that a shotgun may be used. The only thing it says that during deer season only a bow may be used. No where else does it say that a shotgun can not be used for turkey or small game. I would suggest that you call the regional office in New Paltz and speak to a Wildlife officer or a WCO. I called them to confirm that a shotgun may be used for turkey season. Better safe than sorry!!

You can use a shotgun to hunt for turkey in the spring and fall seasons. Obviously bird shot only.

The best thing I ever did was allowing two of my neighbors to hunt my place. They both live next to me and both hunt very little. But with them being there they keep an eye on my place like it's their own. They don't hesitate to call the State Police if they see a vehicle or person that shouldn't be there. At first I didn't allow anyone on the property to hunt but I would sometimes find signs that someone had been there. Especially when we had snow on the ground, pretty hard to hide those footprints. > If you have a friend(s) up there who is a local you might want to think about letting them hunt on your place. In turn he'll be patrolling your place as well. Besides they might be hunting it anyway. :-\

They never stopped issuing DMPs in 4O. They did cut back the number of permits because the DEC is not at their target number for the herd.
-
I am sorry but i think i would find this helarious if i saw it while driving down the road.LOL.Whats the differance of being tied on a trunk or on a quad or just laying on the trailer next to the quad. The difference is that it doesn't show any respect for your quarry!!

All of us have a bleeding heart to one extent or another, if we didn't we wouldn't be human!! With that being said the only thing wrong about this video is that these two idiots made it public. If you've hunted deer long enough inevidably a bad shot will be made and a follow up or dispatch shot will be needed. Unfortunately for us, as hunters, we have idiots like these that force us to take two steps back whenever we take one step forward. Too bad there isn't a cure for stupidity because these two would definitely benefit from it!!!
