Corona Virus Thread

And they have cancelled everything else. All surgeries etc. All they are doing is the virus and emergencies. And with less people on the roads less accidents. -
What a great day that I just needed. Went to an old brook trout spot from back in the day when all I did was trout fish for the most part. Even remembered mostly how to get in there. Good distance back thru some state land I also used to hunt . Lots of deer sign too. Took me about 45 min to find the little stream. Fished for an hour and had only one bite but a nice little wild brookie just over 9". That fish meant a lot to me. Haven't caught a brookie in a while and it always brings me back to days fishing with Dad. So he came home and fried in butter and seasoned salt. Simple and so good. And some crusty bread and butter with it just like we always did at camp. Damn fine day.

I know people that got it but it was $554 instead of the $600. Dunno if that was tax or not. -

Oh def agree but when they got full funding guaranteed and cancelled regents I would be surprised to see any reopen for 3 weeks of actual school. My GF has three adopted kids and good thing she is off cause they do 6-8 hours of school work at home to keep up with what the school is sending them. She said too it surely isn't the same but they are doing all they can. Luckily a foster kid she raised is in college at Geneseo to become a teacher and is helping out a lot too. But even if schools open mid May how many people aren't going to send their kids too. And they are going to have to get new PPE and prob class size limits setup. I would be surprised if they opened but never know. Back when schools originally closed I posted on here that an interesting side will be learning to teach by teleconference. That I see this becoming the wave of the future. Being forced to do it will make a big push to do it sooner. Unfortunately. Not rooting for it just think it will be in evitable at some point. It will be looked at as less risk to kids and less expense for everyone and the younger the generation the more accepted remote learning will become. -
Grits with eggs, cracked pepper and jalapeno sausage I made.

Snug harbor by my house where I usually launch from. Yesterday it was open. Frig me.

Sure am hoping so. The nation ones aren't face to face either, just put $ in a box. I always pay for the whole year at once. Hope thats true. But not seeing any exception for that on the state recreation list. I don't see them allowing it. I think they just look at it like these big Marina's that are full of people all the time and just made a blanket decision. I actually don't fish much til 2nd week in May usually and am really hoping it opens up by then.

After cancelling regents kinda assumed schools are dunzo.... -
On the local news Onondaga county exec was complaining about large takeout orders he has found out about. Saying that these orders mean too many people are together. Geeze they going to ban or limit that next? I thought about it Tonite cause i really didn't want to cook but didn't. I keep asking myself do I want to get sick for a fish sandwich or a pizza. (That's what I wanted) stupid brain- shut up! Haven't gotten anything since three weeks ago got a breakfast pizza.

Check out the 2020 live from the water thread. Been talking bout it there. But it's all Marina's and boat launches and a huge kick in the balls. Dunno if everyone will actually close up, will have to see.

Angel hair pasta, broccoli, buttered and grated cheese.

Other nice part about it is that black lake and the St Lawrence are all like 1/2 hr away too. A ton of good fishing.

A million years ago you used to be able to walk all out around it but it's all broken up now. My Dad every Fri night would stop at Vernon downs play all the races, then go get a limit of eyes off there. Then go and collect any winning tickets later. Like clockwork. I live about 300 yards from there and clean up there on occasion in the fall at night. PB for a limit is 18 minutes. Lol

That's fishing buddy Ed. Went to college with his son. Great guy. Was all worried when my buddy said his Dad was coming to visit and of course he didn't say a word as I am cleaning the place and hiding the beer bottles. His dad came in carrying a beer ball and loved fishing. Yeah we got along just great! The other guy is me 10 years and 45 pounds ago. Lol.

its gettin ugly on the Oneida lake diehards site this is the only one without swearing !

we checked it out but didnt fish it. If i remember it was real small. We hit millsite, hyde, sixberry, red, lake of the woods, butterfield, moon and clear. Lake of the woods was supposed to have trout and landlocks in it. I fished it for 6 hours trolling and never caught a trout but got small northerns and bass. We got some nice walleye out of sixberry though. But we sure had to work for them.

wrist strap with a trigger, but its a buckle cause i hate the velcro. The way i hunt in treestands it works great for me. I have a shooting rail on each of my stands and my bow lays across that and i can even have my release hooked to the bow while i am sitting there and even have my hands inside a warmer. Just need to draw to shoot.

oh no kidding! thats cool. I and 5 fishing buddies we used to rent a camp on sixberry lake for a 4 day weekend. We would split off in three boats of two guys and all fish a different lake in the morn then come back and have lunch and hit sixberry for the night by the camp. My fav was Hyde lake - my personal best day of fishing - 84 bass! i went thru like 10 bags of senkos. And one of my favorite days of catching smallies was on Millsite. They were all monsters! Actually my avatar pic is me on Millsite lake holding a smallie. That was a few years ago too. Might have floated right by you! What was great was all the lakes offered something different from bass to walleye to musky to trout. The camp got sold so we didnt go there anymore and i sure miss it.

people line up here along this wall on both sides of canal for opening night - fishing off shore. Without being able to launch a boat it will be double the people.

Told my staff they are all getting a big bear hug when this is over and HR be damned!

Marinated it in red wine salad dressing then 225 in electric smoker for 3 hours. Last 30 minutes did a maple syrup glaze.

Burt is my hero for sure ! Married to Reba and a man among men.

had that happen in your area - went up to fish a lake in Redwood area and the "launch" had boulders across it. For cartop only ? We had a 14ft aluminum with a 9hp and carried it over. lol. Good fishing too. I think it was moon lake? A bunch of nice little lakes in that area with some great fishing .
