  1. https://www.health.ny.gov/publications/6627.pdf Oneida lake is listed as 4 meals per month. Prob because it has had very little industry around the lake. Although it has populations it hasnt had older corporations/industries like the ones around Onondaga where pollutants and mercury etc were put into the lake. Esp contaminants that last forever. Like Dave says for Perch and even walleye havent been in the lake for long periods of time to accumalate toxins. Most of the legal walleyes in this years catches will be from 2016 stocking/spawn. I would say if your eating fish in the Dacks look it up by lake on DEC site just to be sure. The Dacks has a lot of mercury advisories. Which you wouldnt think since it is so remote
  2. with updated info corona is now second in cases and third in deaths compared to that chart. Percentage is still low though. Local news says people in the county currently being tested and facility they were in is closed to the public.
  3. He can def hit a golf ball.https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.si.com/.amp/extra-mustard/2020/03/02/angels-mike-trout-top-golf-video
  4. Also saying a fisher. They get pretty big . Been within 15 yards of them a couple times last season. Cool animals.
  5. I freeze all of mine in whole sections usually 9" long or so. They just cookup the best that way. I fry them in butter and garlic on high heat on each side spooning butter in pan over them as I cook them or Wrap in bacon on the grill and smoker. If I want steaks I butterfly cut them and make steaks. Can't go wrong pretty much any way unless you make jerky out of it , cause that would make me cry. Lol. (I've never been able to make deer jerky cause of my Dad the chef. He would say" how can you possibly use that beautiful venison to make meat you can stick in your pocket?")
  6. Exception. Madison baumgarten . Does rodeo in the off season. Now that's awesome.

  10. the Kabash was put on the new trail. Wetlands program wont allow landowner to put in additional trails. So much for that. It was a good thought but its ok. Can still maintain current trails and hunt as is. But prob not going to buy tow behind mower now. Esp when owner has a brush hog. He only does it a couple of times a year at best but we still can hunt it ok. Havent decided for sure yet as we would like to keep trails maintained better thru the year as they are the only feed on the land other than natural grasses and brush etc.
  11. last two years have seen a lot of them. Have had them walk right under my stand and within 15 yards of me on the ground. Pretty neat to watch them.
  12. With anything moderation is best I would say. That being said have eaten all types of fish from all types of places. You see pics on TV of third world countries buying fish at markets that are just disgusting. I know where the ones I caught at least came from. I wouldn't eat large amounts of large older fish from certain lakes. But 2-3 year old walleye and perch would seem safe enough to me. I would stay away from a big ole catfish or a carp or something. But as long at it isn't a highly restricted lake I wouldn't worry. I eat fish prob twice a month. But I figure lots of other things will do me in before that. I catch fish from the same streams and lakes that the deer and cattle around here all drink out of . So far so good. And man are those fillets good.

  14. it seems like we are always on edge with injuries - esp over the last 3 years.
  15. we are all probably all going to get this at some point just like the flu. Whether it be this year or next or next. The spanish flu from the early 1900's is still in the strain of flu we see today just we now have some immunity to it and better health care. All will prob be fine. Just hoping panic doesnt get out of hand and quarantines as well. We are all gonna have fallout from this over the next year. Best we can hope is that it dies off in summer like the flu, a vaccine is developed, and it doesnt mutate into something worse. We certainly dont need a double down of the flu every year esp one that is so easily transmitted and has such a long incubation. But looking at the symptoms most will have it and be done with it like a cold which is some sort of a silver lining.
  16. lol I agree!. I might make it out of the county once a year not the country! You see guys like Jim Shockey go to Iran to hunt Tahr and exotic species. No way in hell. I wouldnt go there to hunt Tahr even if they had boobies.
  17. Washington state under state of emergency. Positive test for a postal worker and prob spread to others with transmission to others prob already happened over last couple weeks. Lines at stores to get supplies. Panic and containment and quarantine to me is scarier than the virus.
  18. Must be the day for crockpot meats. I just pulled and mixed wild turkey dark meat I had in crockpot all day for sandwiches. Don't have any slaw though so it has to wait til tomorrow. Plus letting it soak up the sauce. Good to go for tomorrow though.
  19. Not a saying from my Dad but a lyric from Eric Church that would be perfect. " Momma ain't a shrink, Daddy ain't a bank and God ain't a wishin well"
  20. Not from my Dad but one I heard a long time ago and I use... " Understand all you know about it".
