Democrats
Robhuntandfish replied to Steve D's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
what bothers me most is how the democrats say all is so terrible and the US is a mess - really its far and above the best country in the world. We do more for people across the world than anyone else. Including protecting their rights and freedoms. Yet the dems say how "we" are such terrible people and "we" are doing terrible things ....gloom and doom. I am not a trump guy personally cant stand him, politically gotta love him. The things he has done to better the county and then seeks to do more and be upbeat that things are and will be great as opposed to the Democratic asteroid that is about to hit the earth and the sky is falling. Saw the perfect way to define trump - a doctor with a terrible bedside manner, that smokes, is overweight, and calls you fat and says you need to lose weight - and you get mad at him cause hes a jerk....but damn it he is still right. The scariest part to me is that there are a large amount of people that actually look at those candidates and think any one of them would be good for the country. Cause one day from just the law of averages its bound to happen. Ive never seen a worse group for anything in my lifetime. They are an absolute mess. I wouldnt vote for any of them for a homeowners association. And i actually feel sorry for dem voters to only have that for their party choice. Just because i disagree politically doesnt mean i think dems are all bad people but wow it scares me that these are the dems choices to roll out there. There are also plenty of reps i have no use for, but that field to me is amazing that its not some kinda joke and in April the party says "just kidding" and comes out with someone else. The best they could hope for is a electoral primary lock and then plug in an entirely different candidate. In my eyes they are a dead party with that kind of representation but what scares me is a lot of people think their ideas are worthy and socailism is an option. I am hoping the party actual collects itself and gets better for 2024 somehow. But how can you be a dem and not be embarrassed that Pilosi, Sanders and the like are your stars and AOC is your rising star. Unless Oprah comes flying out of a cannon onto the debate stage and gives everyone a free car, i think they are done for. I gave up on politics a long time ago since i live in NY and our electoral votes are going dem no matter what. And any Rep elected to state legs are lame ducks collecting a paycheck. I envy states where Mike Lee and Rand Paul and the like represent but also am not tucking tail and leaving cause this is where i am from. I think 2020 is going to be a landslide. And even if trump was kicked out of office - this group would beat out Pence? not a chance. And good luck in 2024 when its a rep field of Pence, Rand Paul, Marco Rubio, Nikki Haley and the dems send out another sesame street character..... I just dont see anything they have to offer for the future. "The Rock" for president in 2024! oh wait he would prob be republican too. -
Non-hunters hunting experience and commentary
Robhuntandfish replied to Curmudgeon's topic in General Chit Chat
i thought this was interesting - saw it the other day . Although he is obviously against hunting - at least understands "one" aspect of its merits. -
seems like a dangerous game to me. Ever ask the town for a guide rail?

my favorite spanish story - In spanish class a buddy of mine was talking the whole time and not paying attention in class at all.. so the teacher was going around the room and each person had to say - "Quien eres tu" and then the other person would answer , Me llamo es .. So it came to him and he stammers and says "can i have some stew?" - Teachers answer " your outa here! go to the office" in plain English ! lol yeah he didnt pass spanish. now back to a good recipe.
-
Mine came out with the consistency of like canned corn beef. Kinda crumbly. Was hoping for more of a chewy consistency. Like a bologna or summer sausage. Think I needed to add a bit more pork. Also saw a recipe to boil it, then smoke it and was thinking of trying that.

gonna use TF's tip to coat with baking powder to make crispy - then gonna toss in some Dinosaur honey/garlic BBQ.

What arrow weights are you guys shooting?
Robhuntandfish replied to BowmanMike's topic in Bow Hunting
yup its spine. I shoot 340's but arrow is 415 for weight. Including nock , inserts, broadhead, fletches. Kinda like a set of irons - stiffer or more forgiveness. These guys and their analytics are way over my head though. They are playing with a caddy and Im on a 9 hole course. -
should have made an announcement in the restaurant to see if any other members present to make it an official GTG

How to properly season a cast iron pan
Robhuntandfish replied to Bionic's topic in Game Recipes / Cooking
My second at work is big on reclaiming old cast iron. He has a tank he uses hooked up to batteries etc that get rid of all the rust. He'll buy old ones at garage sales and reuse them. -
This exactly!

When I get boat I am gonna sell the one that came with it of your interested. It's a low end lowrance but would def give you a good deal on it. I just wanted to upgrade a bit with something with down imaging and a larger screen. Got a 7" screen now. Some of the touch screen models that have are amazing but also a lot of $. Some of them are 2-3k. But a lot of features I wouldn't ever use. I just basically want to turn it on and see depth and mark fish.

Terranova 55# with autopilot. Doesn't have the link but has the autopilot, foot pedal and remote. Fish finder also isnt a touch screen etc. But it does have down and side imaging. Def needed a foot pedal for bass fishing and wanted autopilot for slow trolling. So they don't link etc. But that's ok, don't need it where I go. But I can still lock waypoints on depth finder if I want to.

How to properly season a cast iron pan
Robhuntandfish replied to Bionic's topic in Game Recipes / Cooking
That sounds right. Very cool you have that and are gonna use it. My Dad was a chef and we knew to NEVER touch his cast irons. He always cleaned them and did an oil wipe in them and put in oven.
