Great Day Andrew! Nice pics and a great day for your son! That walleye is a whopper!

He did fine ....none of the blood was his or ours so that's a win!

Went out on Oneida this am. Was bit rough and buddy wanted to fish canal so we junked fished the canal. Caught smallies , largemouth, pickerel, northern, and one walleye. The biggest I've gotten out of Oneida. 25+ inches. Fun on a stickbait and 6lb test. Had another big one come up to the boat but he didn't take. Good day on the water.

Fished out on Keuka today with some top notch guys. TCIII and his crew, Lawdwaz and Pygmy. Got the honor to fish in the Pygmy boat and that guy is no joke when it comes to fishing. Not kidding he had one on his first cast. Great day on the water with some great guys. Was very cool to meet them , all guys I would share the water or a beer with anytime. And they put on a hell of a fish fry to boot. Thanks for the invite guys! next time no need for the art festival but it was a nice touch. Maybe when Moog is in town again! Lol.

Agreed. My buddy's brother has a bass boat. Wouldn't fish with him if he was catching mermaids. Drives like a maniac. One spot I fish on the north side of Oneida there is a now a tree stump sticking up out of the water and it's 25 ft deep there. Trees etc get moved around all the time. There are shoals out here in the middle of the lake that you can stand on. People are crazy. My boat goes 30 and that is plenty fast.

Happy Birthday , hope it's a great day -
Had the morn off so went out for a bit on Oneida. Lake was wavy already at 5:30 and that's always a bad sign. So fished the canal. Had good morn. Limit of eyes, 33 " northern, a couple of smallies. Lost one other eye right at the net and had a good walleye or a northern on that broke me off. Good morning out for sure.

Good point ! Surprised tail docking is still allowed.

So your a cat....would you rather have your claws taken or your balls...lol. so its ok to castrate one but not declaw it. Better make another law. The cat balls lobby is prob ready to March on Albany . It's probably even a matter that cats and dogs would cross the aisle and agree on. Lol It's fine I guess, don't want to see an animal hurt on purpose but do we really need another law for this? Esp with so many other issues to tackle. So if they make a law that you can't declaw a cat how far is it a stretch not to hook a fish or shoot a deer. I always lean towards leariness on these sort of things.

When I bought my boat it had a bigger engine on it. Guy said this will be like a rocket ship. Told him exactly....let's put a smaller motor on it. 50 on the water feels like 100.

What's the farthest/shortest shot you've made.

I agree , for me anyway I don't feel like I outsmarted or earned the hunt as much if I shot an animal at like 600 yards or something. Never would take away from someone who does it. It's an amazing feet of shooting to me. And to each their own to enjoy the way they like to hunt. Prob apples and oranges. But for me it's not an amazing feet of hunting. I want to be close up to feel like my hunting or planning skills were the reason I got the animal as that's my favorite part. The shot is just kinda the period on the sentence of the story If that makes sense......prob one of the reasons why I enjoy bow hunting so much. -

its not even just wind drift that keeps me from shooting that far- too many variables. A gun on a bench can be shot for hundreds of yards with the right math. But from a treestand or leaning against a tree isnt the same. one or two inches off of aim at 100 yards isnt a big deal. But at 300+ its off by many inches to feet. Am sure there are capable guys on here to do it, and i am a decent shot with a rifle but dont like hunting with such long shots. Its like shooting the bow - you might be hitting bulls at 20 then backup to 40 and find your 3 inches left. The farther you go out the more your aim and trigger squeeze have to be perfect. Am sure lots of guys can do it and under the right circumstances be great at it. If you pull the trigger even a little at 300+ the shot is going to be off by a lot. But i havent practiced at those yardages so i stay away from them. -
Happy Birthday Dom!

same here . 200 with a rifle is my cutoff. Would go 250 on a moose with my 06 though. But i dont practice that far so not taking the chance, just dont feel comfortable. -

crossbow 4 yards, farthest 35 bow 4 yards , farthest 35 Funny they are the same. Gun closest 5 yards, and farthest 130. With a 20 gauge 220 Savage. My closest miss with a bow is straight down. Cut hairs right down a does back and side. Missed a deer when I was 16 with open sights 30/30 at 8 yards. Lol buck fever for sure. -
