  1. That actually sounds good. I haven't slept in for months. And sleeping in is like 6 am . Lol between hunting and I get up for work at 4 am that sounds pretty good..... And then I kick myself all day for not going.....lol
  2. I used to work for nys DOT years ago and spent lots of time in those plows. I feel your pain. Now I manage a transportation Dept . And the worst part is being in the office while drivers are out on bad roads with passengers . I pace..... Good luck with the snow . And dodging the idiots on the road all day.
  3. I'm gonna get him to take it to a shop. After not even being able to get it to be consistent at even 50 yards with open sights or 2 different scopes and trying 3 different kinds of ammo, I told him I was done shooting it. Esp when the last shot group was all over still and even not on paper at times. Will sure be interested to know what it is. Never seen anything like it
  4. Same here but without the money. Lol If it snows I have to go into work on weekdays and cancel vacation. This week canceled three days off cause of it. But am off tomorrow. Because of work I hate snow. The winter is pretty tough on me. The place I gun hunt I like it cause it knocks down the neck high grass, but don't care to sit in the real cold that much.
  5. Guess they aren't skimpy on toppings wow. You could make like 300 Martinis to go with it.
  6. Headed out in the morn..I think....10 degrees.... Prob will go but def afternoon. Just finished butchering doe and mixed up 8 lbs of bacon burger and 11 lbs of Apple breakfast sausage to package up tomorrow. So ready for another the deer hang is empty and reset.
  7. i plan on going out in am to a close spot for a little while then pm for a longer venture. Gonna be a cold one. Calling for lows in the teens overnight here. Good luck!
  8. i use them mostly on scrapes to keep them active. I have run a scent line and had it work a couple of times. If i have a scrape close by i would spray some from there on the ground in a couple spots or bottom of my boot towards my stand. Had a buck one time follow it to the tee but it was only a 4 point. I also spray some estrus at times where i want a buck to stop for a shot on a trail.
  9. sorry for your loss. You will of course always miss your Dad and him being there, but will always be able to look back at all you did together and as a family. Sounds like a good man and raised a good son.
  10. My hunting buddy just pulled cam behind his house. This morning by cornfield. He had to work last night but is going out soon now!
  11. APD! (Apple Pie Down). Do you need help tracking?.....Apple sauce trail....get any of the core on the arrow.... Details...
  12. Nice buck! You earned him for sure. A lot of trips out for you too this year. Congrats!!!!
  13. he wont sell it , it was his grandfathers - would be a wall hang first. His grandfather and a buddy got a moose permit one year for maine and they got a moose and never told anyone which of them shot it. Weve been putting in for the lottery for years and were gonna do the same thing . His grandfather was from maine and has family up there. but he would never sell it.
  14. lol yeah i checked. I said the same thing to him when he asked me to shoot it. I said "are you sure its not a .32 ?"
  15. Yeah it was almost scary shooting it. I told him i was done shooting it and it needed to go to a shop to be looked at. He hung it back up for now, but the gun looks like its in real nice shape otherwise. Its not all scrtached up and bluing is still nice
  16. i dont . He was given the gun by a family member. It was his grandfathers that he never really knew. But family knew he was a hunter and wanted him to have it. He also has an 8 point mount that was his grandfathers hanging at his house and right now just has the gun hanging with it.
  17. we used remington softs, fusion and lever revolution. We sent prob 4 boxes of ammo thru it and two different scopes we cant even keep it on paper on 50 though. I dont think its boresight. We havent had an issue with any other guns. This is just so outa wack . Might hit high left, then low right, then no paper etc. at even 50 yards. Something has to be wrong with the gun. Im no sniper but pretty good with a rifle. have heard from someone before that the prior person might not have cleaned it right and screwed up the end of the barrel causing it to shoot like this?
  18. we tried it at 40 yards and it was all over off hand. Then shot from a bench at 50 and be on/off paper. So he should probably look for a new/used barrel?
  19. you ever cut into any bear tracks? I would snow hunt and always also looked for bear tracks and I have never come across them. I used to hunt Lewis co a lot in the snow and sometimes in Indian Lake area and always hoped i would come across that and do a track on a bear.
  20. my buddy has an old 30/30 (i believe Marlin) that was his grandfathers. We have tried to sight it in and it is just all over the place. He put a scope on it and had me try it as well. I thought maybe it was the scope so I put one of mine on it and same thing. And no rhyme or reason to it. Left, right, high, low. Get it on paper and then not even hit paper. I do pretty well at the range and this is so off it just isnt the Indian and is the arrow! What could be wrong with this gun and what if anything is the best way to fix it? He would like to use it for hunting for nostalgia sake. He took it open sighted a couple years back and missed a deer, then put a scope on it and wasnt any better. And yes he cleaned it a couple of times thinking that might be it. But it seems like something else is wrong here..
  21. I can reach out 150 plus with this. And i have never felt comfortable with any shots 200+ with anything. So i really like the shotgun. I am 2" high at 100 which puts me dead on at 150. Farthest i have ever killed a deer was about 130 with any gun. Im just not a long range guy even if i have the oppurtunity i generally try to get closer.
  22. on the gun opener its always pancakes and sausage and eggs at my house before we hunt - stop in everyone! lol
  23. Now that's effort my man. And up there off 30 I'm guessing wasn't flat land. I used to have a camp in Indian lake. Nice tracking snow and that's the way it's done for sure.
  24. Going with the 12 gauge. Thought about the muzzleloader for the gun season but gonna stick the 12 and take a couple days off in muzzleloader this year for some late season hunts. 12 g Remington 1187 cantilever barrel and hornady 300 grain. No shots longer than 150 where I will be hunting and love a shotgun. Just seems right for the southern opener.
