  1. That's what happened to the mountain lions tail, squatch had him but he broke it loose like a lizard. You know that's what happened.....
  2. I do the same , I cut them in thirds. Hot pan with butter and garlic and a little Montreal steak seasoning. Sear each side and keep basting with butter. Pink in the middle. Delicious
  3. Hunted lease in 7F again for the pm. It felt deery and perfect. Didn't see a darn thing. Gonna take Thurs off and hunt there again with a buddy and we got a plan. Lol Congrats to those that tagged today!
  4. Good thing your not hunting this afternoon......might come out with no socks and the tail of your shirt gone.
  5. Didn't see anything but fresh tracks going in. And then fresher tracks coming out. Lol. Didn't go to the spot I wanted to buddy overslept and to get in there is like putting on a drive so need another guy to post up for a bit. But 3 deer went right between our stands this morn while we were sitting. Close! He hasn't tagged at all this year and was hoping he would. Back out this pm soon. Thursday we are gonna try again in stand I was gonna go to. It was deery today but none walked out close enough.
  6. My first time hunting with my Dad was up in Lewis county and I was like 8. We sat above a swamp and beaver dam and saw a bear . I still remember it. He had a sweet 16 shotgun and the bear was prob 300 yards away. And I asked Dad if he was gonna shoot him. He said nah we'll let him go. Lol Get him out there and hooked early. Before you know it he's your hunting buddy!
  7. Dunno that area, real familiar with the lowville and Osceola areas of the tug. But imagine they are similar and lots of miles without houses. Hope it's a good ending.
  8. What town / area? That sucks , hate hearing these stories . Hope he will be alright.
  9. That's really stepping up to help , thanks. Lol. Might have to trade for some of those duck breasts. It was a better spring/summer than usual. Even though I didn't get out as much as I would have liked.
  10. Nice! Good to have a freezer full of game. I rotated my stock yesterday as it was so cold in the morn to hunt for me. Move last year's leftover venison to the top, move the walleye to one side. Gotta start handing out venison soon to the family , hunting buddies and landowners. Make a big stew to take into work too. I try to wait til end of season cause it's kind of ridiculous to give my hunting buddies venison and then they drop one.
  11. A buddy of mine got permission to hunt a new property across the road from his house this season. I helped him put up a couple of stands there. 2 weeks later one of them was stolen. So he took the other one down. Ended up getting permission to hunt another spot behind his house, but apparently someone else is also hunting that other land. He also had someone put up balloons in a field by the stand he took down. (Posted about this earlier) He just said enough was enough and permission or not is done with that spot.
  12. My first buck was a very strategic hunt . Very well planned and precision executed. Sure... Was the second day of gun season, I had sat for about 4 hours in a chair by a fence line on the edge of the woods. I decided to call it cause hadn't seen a thing. Stood up stretched my arms and looked to my left .....duh..... buck....at 50 yards. Grabbed my Mossberg 500 open sights and dropped him where he stood. He had one side busted off and the other a fork horn hanging down and broken but still there. Had taken a few does before then and shot at one buck and missed. Also got my first bow buck a year later a 7 point.
  13. Looked up a local place cause if I get another deer might take it there as my freezer is full now. So can have it done and boxed and frozen to give to family and friends etc. But just checked their website and it said $25 for caping for mounts.
  14. $32, LOF, check all the fluids, rotate tires...can't beat it.
  15. I saw Zippo. Didn't go in far cause it's just so noisy. Sat til 11. Prob not hunt pm, supposed to pour here. Tomorrow I'm in all day. Gonna hunt one stand that hasn't been touched all year in the morn. Pulled cam from where I was sitting. Does only at night not a one in daylight. 4 bucks ,2 decent in daylight on Nov, 10,12. But since not much.
  16. Three recoveries from last night is allllll good news. Congrats guys!!!! Way to go
  17. Sounds like some action there. That's good to hear. And yeah at 175 i would be unsure of shooting too and I've been hunting for 30 years. And good for her for not taking a shot she wasn't sure of. Raised her to have some good judgment, def nothing to be ashamed of there. You'll get another chance. Good luck!
  18. Gotta incorporate leftovers in everything.... Venison maple sausage on left over biscuit for lunch. Breakfast had a 2 egg cheese and broccoli omelette. With left over broccoli in Alfredo and bacon bits.
