No grilling allowed in Connecticut? Must be a strict homeowners association.
-
You should both make the HNY calendar this year though. They sell them with the T-shirts.

The last two times I was up in the dacks hunting I was the only one on a 76,000 acre piece of stateland. Never saw another vehicle around all day.

Covid round two!
Robhuntandfish replied to Cory's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
That was great of you to do. I actually was in Cortland today most of the day hashing out some things. I wish I could say the same . The masking has really gotten so it bothers me a lot. It actually gets me down to have to put that on every day. -
Happy Birthday! hope its a good day. @XGX7PM

Covid round two!
Robhuntandfish replied to Cory's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
i give us a 50/50 shot of the mask mandate being gone by May. But at work I bet I will still have to wear one for the next two years....... If i could retire right now i would just because of that. -
Covid round two!
Robhuntandfish replied to Cory's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
or it might just be people of florida that just choose to wear them. As many states without the mandate still have a large number of people that choose to wear them. And choice is choice. I find it tiresome of the bravado of people that will stand up and not wear a mask or get vaccinated as much as the repetitive reminders for masks/vaccinations these days. Who cares what people choose to do as long as its a choice and not a mandate. Do what you want and let others make their choice as well for both sides. -
Show on Outdoor Channel...Wild Game w/Mike Robinson
Robhuntandfish replied to Lawdwaz's topic in Game Recipes / Cooking
He has a couple of shows on there. His newest is wild game master chef. He also has a show on there last couple of years called "Farming the wild" which is very good. He makes some amazing meals for sure. But he adds lemon zest to everything! Lol. He always hunts deer with dogs with him. It's amazing how well trained they are. -
I'm Confused

Although I also don't like that Biden is using race or gender, I don't recall the outrage when Trump announced he will nominate a woman to the supreme Court to replace Ginsberg. And if you recall Reagan also said during his campaign that he would nominate a woman to the court once elected. It seems this is also being used as a Target of convience for the right. It should always be the next best person but where was everyone's outrage for Trump? We are all so quick to push the agenda of the most recent issue and cry outrage as long as it fits our own narrative. This is coming from someone that thinks Biden is a buffoon. But I also am able to see how each side just continues to push the outrage and division any which way they can spin it these days as long as it fits their need. That being said I hope a qualified candidate applies, and files for discrimination, if they aren't interviewed due to race and gender. But I also would have welcomed that to Trump's same agenda when stating his appointment would be a woman. Fair is fair. -

I'm Confused

i never understoof why all the hostility over this. Hands down i would rather row than wade. Seems like everytime i wade I end up falling on my ass and getting soaked. -
although i do the actually hunting alone, my buddy might be in a treestand often a few hundred yards away. And i enjoy those days more than hunting alone. Also all the time we spend in imporvements and work at hunting spot is much better with someone else around.

I guess I don't see a lifestyle as getting a trophy. I don't hunt, fish or do anything for a trophy or any recognition. I do these things because I enjoy them. I like the pursuit of game and a full freezer from these pursuits to enjoy all season and with others. I don't see it as a competition to outdo others with a bigger buck. We don't all hunt the same piece of land at the same time so I don't see it as a competition in any way. To me a trophy is something in the professional sports world or something kids are given for accomplishments in school in a competition with peers. I have several fish mounts on the wall and only one buck mount. But the term trophy doesn't feel like it fits to me. I didn't beat out any competition to get these, only worked hard myself for the opportunity, the experience and the stories that come about from it and they are reminders of those times. And hunting and fishing for me are about the enjoyment and I enjoy it whether I get a bucket of perch or a monster walleye, or a nice doe for the freezer or a big buck for the wall, it all was fun.

Sounds awesome. Yeah that spot in Rome has a lot of windows and doors in houses around here! I've got a bunch of stuff on the plate too that wanted to have done last year. The biggest job I cant do myself which is foundation leveling and bracing. Which was supposed to be done last year but all the rain and the guy got a hernia so hoping it's done early this spring. Everything is waiting on that. Even had to cancel a weekend day of fishing with Pygmy as had it scheduled but the guy didn't make it. So once that is done I'm also redoing my kitchen and dining area floor. I'm going to take a bedroom wall out and was going to do that this weekend but held off in case of any issues and having a hole in the floor or ceiling and it's -10 out. Then after that new carpet in living and bedroom. Then moving my outside faucet to other side of the house, replace my stove and vent, redo the floor in utility and hunt/fish room. Then last things to do before I retire is hopefully the roof, a new furnace and a generator. Besides the things here and there that need to be done of course.

Are used ATV prices as bad as trucks?
Robhuntandfish replied to moog5050's topic in ATV's , UTV's, Dirtbikes & Snowmobiles
The marina up the road from me had everything sold, orders thru the next year and have already sold the trade in boats that have yet to be traded in as people are waiting for their new ones. -

Anything like vehicles, boats,ATVs are like this . Same reasons of shortages, shut downs, staffing and catching up on demand. -
Saw this pic from the '50s on the Oneida lake Diehards site. Ice fishing derby and then sled dog races. Kinda neat. Def different times.

Fish fry. Fish tacos . One with lettuce, roasted red peppers and baby Ray's horseradish sauce,. One with pico. Bought the pico rather than make it. 11 hour day at work was enough.
-
I am really looking forward to it. I'm expecting a lot of misses and a lot of laughing at ourselves.
-
6 months is actually better than many. There are vehicles I can't even get prices on cause they aren't in production to even be able to place an order.
-
I'm being told might not be any govt incentives by June of this year..... All the big car companies can't fill the orders or their lots now and surely won't want to give concessions and make less. This is gonna be a mess to catch up on for years. I had 5 vehicles at work carry over to this year we were supposed to get but they aren't available or even in production.
