Gman was there a link for that? Would like to check it out thanks. I thought the proposal was just for sunfish and not perch. A lot of fellas around here won't be happy. 25 perch is more than plenty for me though.

There are guys on the Oneida lake sites this fall that were banging out 50 every day. 2 guys in a boat 100 perch. They were just tearing them up. Used to have a buddy from high school that would ice fish the whole winter break. Fill his freezer and sell a bunch to boot and make a couple hundred bucks. Dunno if you saw though that they also passed a no limit for indian tribe members. Been a bit controversial here as some are worried they will take it as commercial fishing. The state is leaning towards increasing the walleye limit on Oneida to 5 this year. I would prefer they leave it and change the whole state to 3 , except for Erie. What other walleye lake in NY is good enough to take the 5 in the general regulations? Only Erie for sure.

If I was back in the college days in would've loved the extra week during the holidays. I was lucky to get out a day or two then. Or even after college working two or three jobs. I passed on 6-8 does this season I could've shot. But I had one in the freezer which is my first goal so I was trying for a buck. It's always interesting that the area I hunt they give out 30,000 doe permits every year and have extra on Nov 1. But my spot def doesn't have that big of a population. 3 doe were taken off our spot and I was hesitant to take another. I've shot far more bucks out of there as they wander in during season. I like to keep a good herd of a few does around for that. But I don't hate the extra week as I am always for more opportunities for more people. Guys that can manage their own property can decide for themselves if they want to pressure their deer or not. I actually might be the only one that likes the seasons exactly as they were. Get to use all different implements and can get two bucks. It always seemed like a good setup to me. The extra week at this point for me is just more of a novelty. Next year I actually am planning to become a duck hunter after 2nd week of gun season. We have a lot of options in NY.

next year gonna have to use the auto select instead.

my vac is all planned for next year too. 4 weeks of it at least.

i honesty am about ...meh.... on it. By the end I am about burnt out. I might go one day, maybe the 1st just cause ive never hunted 1/1 before. Def no worries on pressure at my spot as there isnt any deer there. I am the only one thats hunted it prob 3-4 times in the last 3 + weeks. Just food sources are gone so then the deer are too. Will prob go just to walk around and check out some of the deer trails i havent been near in bedding areas and to look at an area for some duck hunting options for next season. But the weather will have to be good and will have to find some motivation to go.

Gonna be a long winter of this mess. Looking like lots of things are gonna be closed for periods of time due to positive tests. Hoping for a silver lining of better herd immunity and possibly a less impactful dominant variant. Hope the best to all that have it.

Hung this in the kitchen today. Had the day off and got a project done, vet appt and a couple hours of hunting.

Hunt #51. 2:30-dark. Scrapetree. Wanted to hunt next pond by parking spot but there was just too much water. So went to scrapetree for a bit. Saw nothing.

I'm out for a short sit. Not sure why but I am here. Original plan was to sit by the area I park where I saw deer on Sunday with the xbow. But too much water where I needed to be and out of sight. So in our best East wind stand. All the grass in trails is about dead so don't figure on seeing much.

i am convinced that when people say they see all these deer from 10-2 they mean 10pm-2am! Notice how they never put a am/pm on those times........sneaky guys.... Ive done all day sits a bunch and never see more deer during the middle of the day and sit there and wonder why why am i doing this again.
