Got out today at our property in 4C to freshen up the ground blinds for next weekend gun opener. Both blinds sit on top of ridges looking over draws that come out of overgrown fields on the neighbor's property. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk -
Never made it there. I was in college (late 90s) so didn't seek out the best places. Mostly bars and places with good happy hours. McGill's was the place I was referencing for riggi's. Just remember it being one of the best pasta dishes ever and wife and I still cook our version at home.

Spent a couple years in Utica. My favorite riggi's place used sliced cherry peppers to provide the spice...every bite is was not spicy but when you got a bite of the cherry pepper it was there. Every place has their own take on the dish. Riggi's is really good stuff.

I see deer along 90 there every once in a while. I drive it every day to and from work. I see them in the field off 787 behind Huck Finn's all the time. A few nice bucks too. -
Definite shooter in my neck of the woods.

While driving east on thruway today saw a really nice buck chasing a doe. This was just west of exit 45 I think? It was in a field south of thruway right by the unique concrete bridge overpass with the grass that grows on the sides. I think it is Route 64 underpass.

Do you remember the first spot you ever went deer hunting at ?
MPHunter replied to Hunter007's topic in General Chit Chat
Greeneville, NY, sitting on the corner of a ridge with my dad overlooking a hardwood flat with a creek out in front and to the right of us. I was about 10yrs old. It was cool that we could hear the deer's hoofs on the rocks crossing the creek before we could see them. Many deer were taken off that spot until a poacher shot the farmer's dog and everyone was kicked off the property. The farm got sold and was developed into a girl's summer camp. Drove down there a few years ago and it is unrecognizable from what it was 30 years ago. -
The head on that thing looks like a mule!

We use a jet sled to drag the deer out. Slide it into the quad trailer and then onto the tailgate and into the bed. Before we had the quad, tie a rope to the antlers, pull the head up to the tailgate, grab the antlers and pull it up and in.

What are your expectations for the season?
MPHunter replied to Robhuntandfish's topic in Deer Hunting
My expectations are that I will see a ton of doe that I can't shoot because I won't have a doe permit (don't bow hunt); I will see a handful of spikes and four pointers that I won't shoot (self imposed, 6 point or better); I will see a couple shooter bucks out of range; my dad will shoot another 8 pointer; I will eat tag soup come second week in December; I will love every minute of spending the time in the woods with my dad. -
