Mum Who Takes Two-Year-Old Daughter Hunting Hits Back At Trolls
CharlieNY replied to Grouse's topic in General Hunting
Here's what I say to a great mother for getting her daughter involved in a sport that she loves. Keep up the good work. valoroutdoors.com -
My late mom and grandmother would make dandelion salad like Otto said and it was very good and dandelions are actually very healthy for you. The attached link is the simple recipe which is very easy to make. valoroutdoors.com. https://www.bigoven.com/recipe/old-fashioned-wild-dandelion-salad/155803

Don't rule out size 6 shot in a 20 Gauge. You will get more pellets on target and a tighter pattern. When my son was old enough to hunt his first gun was a Remington 870 youth model 20 gauge and he smoked his first gobbler with it using Remington size 6 shot at a distance of 25 yards. valoroutdoors.com

I got my second shot of the Pfizer vaccine early yesterday morning. I had no side effects yesterday and went to bed at my normal time last night. I had a good night's sleep and when I woke up this morning I have minor soreness at my injection site and no other side effects whatsoever. I have a couple of friends who actually got covid and got very sick. One of them still doesn't fully have his sense of taste and smell back 4 months later. I'm grateful for the vaccine and feel much safer now. valoroutdoors.com

heated vests
CharlieNY replied to Robhuntandfish's topic in Hunting Gear Reviews and Gear Discussions
I bought an arris heated vest this past winter to wear in the duck blind for the late duck and goose season. I wear it over a shirt and under my parka and it is very comfortable and warm. I only have to use the medium heat setting on the coldest of days. It comes with zippered side panels that can be added or removed to adjust to your size. I bought a spare rechargeable battery for it but a battery on full charge lasts all day. It has several options on using all or just some of the 7 heating elements in the vest. valoroutdoors.com https://www.arrislife.com/collections/heated-clothing/products/arris-heated-vest-size-adjustable-7-4v-battery-electric-warm-vest-for-hiking-camping-1 -
I installed one of their trigger springs on my Remington 1187 turkey gun. The installation was a breeze and the result was terrific. It reduced the trigger pull to that of a centerfire rifles which is perfect for a turkey gun. It was a very inexpensive investment and well worth it. valoroutdoors.com

Took my son out today. It was his first snow goose hunt this year. We continue to draw them in and knock them down. It was another gorgeous day to be out. valoroutdoors.com

My friend that I am currently hunting with does not do guided hunts. However I have another friend who is a licensed guide and outfitter and does guided hunts for snow geese. His website is frontenacfowlers.com and you can find all the necessary information and prices on his website. valoroutdoors.com

By buddy and I continue to pull some birds in. Our best luck has been on the cold days with a bright sun and a brisk wind. valoroutdoors.com

A friend and I have been doing some snow goose hunting since last week. We have been seeing a lot of birds and have had good luck bringing them in so far. They are very difficult birds to bring into the decoys but we have been peeling some birds off of the large flocks. valoroutdoors.com

For what it's worth everyone is different and will react differently. My hunting buddy and I are both 69 years old. He got his first shot of the Pfizer vaccine before me. He told me that later that day it felt like his arm got hit with a sledge hammer. He told me the next day he had a slight fever and a headache along with the chills. I got the same shot yesterday morning. My arm is very mildly sore at the injection site and I have no other side effects whatsoever and I feel great. Do not base your decision to get vaccinated on what other people have experienced and don't be afraid to get vaccinated. I hope everyone gets vaccinated and avoids getting covid. valoroutdoors.com

Cynthia my kudos to you for giving a new life to a rescue dog. I don't know if you saw this story or not about a rescue dog who became a rescuer. I have attached a link. This story illustrates the love and gratitude a rescue dog will give when adopted. I'm sure cooper will give you the same. Congratulations. valoroutdoors.com. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.cbsnews.com/amp/news/steve-hartman-on-the-road-rescue-dog-2021-02-26/

Anyone rabbit hunting with beagles?
CharlieNY replied to Kmartinson's topic in Small Game and Predator Hunting
Took my 2 boys out today. Weather was great but walking was a real workout. Snow is still deep here and there is a crust of ice on top of the snow which I broke through with each step. Dogs ran 5 bunnies but the runs were short as the bunnies were holing up due to the conditions. They did get to run 1 by me that I bagged. valoroutdoors.com -

Right now my son is looking into a Maryland sea duck hunt on the Chesapeake Bay next December or January for the 2 of us. We like to hunt out of state for something we cannot hunt here. We started going on an out of state hunt for something different every year since I retired. I hope to continue this practice for as long as I am capable of doing so. We enjoy our hunting trips whether we score or not. I hope that everyone planning an out of state hunt this year gets to do so. valoroutdoors.com

I respectfully disagree. My encounters with idiots in my younger days was exclusively with other deer hunters. I post on the waterfowl hunting forum and haven't seen any issues. As far as a defense fund for the murderer, he is dead and there will be no defense for him. Unfortunately idiots exist in all types of hunting as is the case with any sport. valoroutdoors.com

This illustrates the pure insanity that an extremely low percentage of hunters possess while out hunting. There is no animal or bird worth even getting into an argument over, much less losing your life. When I was a young man I ran into this situation a couple of times while hunting public land and I backed down and walked off when someone wanted to challenge me. That is my recommendation to anyone else who is unfortunate enough to have some idiot challenge them. Walk away and hunt another day. I am fortunate to now own my own property and avoid this type of nonsense. This gives hunting a black eye and empowers the anti hunters. Be considerate to other hunters and stay safe. valoroutdoors.com

Anyone rabbit hunting with beagles?
CharlieNY replied to Kmartinson's topic in Small Game and Predator Hunting
Yes sir they were tired. I let them run one more bunny after that which I let go and then we headed home. They're sound asleep now in their doghouse. valoroutdoors.com
