These colder temperatures sure have the deer up and moving. I believe we'll have fawns in April again.

Pumpkins are becoming high price for some families now a days. Stealing has gone through the roof in todays economy with everything. The shots that one would expect to be easy tracking jobs always turn out to be the toughest. Last year's shot never offered us a blood trail of any kind. Shot went right into the bred basket too. Found it the next day using my nose and playing the wind about 1/2 mile away. We were lucky. I take it, the broad head is in the deer. Sounds like a strong bone hit. Broadhead could be taring up the inside as the deer moving around. Could be lodged in an area that won't do much harm. 50- 50 chance. Good luck, hope you find or see him in the future.

We have about the same number of darker colored deer here as on average, I'd say. Only once in 25 years, a nice buck showed up with a chocolate colored rack., dark coat Some of my bow hunting trauma days.

I've been told by old time deer hunters, woods deer that stay out of light conditions, have dark racks. If true, it might go with darker hide color also.

My favorite season. Been in practice for weeks now. Some how I never get as much practice as I would like to. My bows getting some age on it, probley should get a new model. Like a perfectly tuned piano though, and hate to get rid of it. One more season, keep telling myself.
