  1. When the trees start to talk, telling me to remove my being, I listen.
  2. Kind of ironic that this deer be fronted you on 10-9. Had a nice buck visit my nest the evening of 10-8, at 32 yards. Maybe it's not ironic at all.
  3. The October slow down continues for deer. Going on 10 days now, here. Flooded with food sources at this point. Little buck fawns must not participate, LOL.
  4. If in doubt, back out. Give a few hours, so you don't push the deer on. It's cold out, the meat will keep. As long as no precip. , to wash away the blood trail.
  5. Knowone should be in a stand, if that person feels uncompable, for whatever the reason. No deer is worth a fall of serious injury or death! Stay on the ground, and think safety. We want everyone safe, so they can continue hunting and enjoying HuntingNY?com. In thinking back, most of the deer we shoot are from the ground. I have trimmed the budget for tree stands, LOL.
  6. So wet this morning, even the frogs are wearing rain gear.
  7. . This was spot on,, so. far, with the 8th of October being the best day for daytime activity, here. Dropped right off except for a bump on the 12 th during a cold night. Our first frost here. Weather condition were mild after that, which I m sure had an influence, along with hunter pressure. I ,m curious., as to see how accurate this becomes.
  8. I haven't seen Andrew ads either. Guess I'm just lucky.
  9. I often wonder just how many tickets are actually handed out for baiting? Hunting over bait, I've seen a few, but never for feeding deer with a feeder.
  10. Looks like someone might be having a turkey dinner, in their near future, LOL,
  11. Four Seasons was only pointing out another side, a side that hadn't been mentioned. I'm not even sure the OP even thought of this scenario. Who are any one of you, to judge the ethics of one hunter to the next? Yes, some don't agree, but like it on not, it's going to be different for each and every hunter. I can say however, that personal attacks are uncalled for, Period!
  12. Oh, they know exactly what their doing. They know how to print tickets, LOL.
  13. Did he shoot the doe or did it walk away? For the sake of 30 pages in this thread, we may never know the real answer.
  14. Sounds like another one of those gray areas to me. Edit: A crossbow is a muzzleloader. All muzzleloaders are then crossbows, when being pulled up to a treestand by rope! LOL.
  15. A couple pick of 2 hens with poults. Take a guess which ones are the poults?
  16. Went out to another nice day. A nice buck fawn started my hunting adventure coming into the oak woods for his daily breakfast. Mother and the babies got the hankering for nuts on their corn flakes also. Weather wise, cooling off nicely with a splattering of showers.
  17. They never seem to see deer when their in the blind.
  18. I 've replaced one dummy for another for 2 seasons now, LOL. After getting the idea from growalots orange dummy hunter figures. The deer still notice something isn't quite right in that stand when I'm in it. Maybe it's scent or movement or just a different shape. I call it " Deer Logic."
  19. Got to within 50 yards of a buck. Long story short, I ran out of legal light. Nice night for stalking, if the wind is played right.
  20. Corn field looks like a good setup tonight with a south wind. Drying down nicely. They should be in there. It's time for minus one doe!
  21. Yes indeed, sure is nice out. Out in the shirt sleeves this morning. Beautiful red sky. The sailors must be taking warning.
  22. Good story! I'm getting survival gear together, for just this sort of possibility. Some nice dry matches, a good tracker knife, and some other handies can sure mean a positive outcome for an overnight stay in the woods.
