  1. It's against the law to search for a deer with a dog in NYS..! Deer Search and only them can legally use a dog to track deer.
  2. Another good day in the corn. Deer walking through shooting lanes early. Had to sit and bare it. This ripening corn really attracts them.
  3. So many deer in the corn this morning. Not a shot ant any.
  4. That is a good question for NY. DEC. They don't isolated reservation land out of the regional maps. There's that gray area again.
  5. The deer cannot be transport onto NYS land. The carcass stays on reservation land. My friends father processed the deer on his piece of land. I then transported some of the meat. I did give a large portion to their family.
  6. I hunting Reservation land with a good friend of mine, some years ago. I needed to meet the chief and get his written permission what day (s) I would be on my friends land along with a NYS hunting license, not that it was needed, because it's not part on NYS., but I believe he wanted to know I had the experience. I also carried my NYS hunting license, just in case for my sake. I also knew a lot of friends on the reservation, which may have helped my chances.
  7. I seen a good fight like that, last year when 5 were fighting in an open field. Funny, a little 6 kicked all their butts. Sat in that stand to well after 8 pm. listening to racks banging together. Cleared ll my arteries back open, LOL.
  8. Happy Birthday. Any plans on a birthday hunt? A nice deer on your birthday, would make a nice present.
  9. Please shoot one and then post the video, LOL. Nothing better than " Live Action."
  10. I roosted the turkey last night and got up with them this morning, LOL. As the last one walked by, it give me the side look, as if to say " Ha Ha, season's not open yet." I had to laugh.
  11. Found out the advantages to siting in an oak woods full of nuts during a wind. Had mega doe in front of me less than 10 yard. One large doe caught my eye, but only a head on shot. Held the bow drawn for minutes, before my arms were going to fall off and had to let down. A fair buck came in along with a 4 and a 6. He came to within 26 yard from the stand without going into a shooting lane. He tortured me for several minutes. Rattling, grunt call, and can calls all tried but nothing worked. I believe a doe is close and they were following her. I had deer coming in the dark trying to get at the nuts under my tree. Took well over an hour to get out of that stand. Watched the harvest moon raise in the east sky. No deer pics tonight, as I was trying to shoot one, but I do have turkey pics. They were clucking at 11 yards in front of me.
  12. Just got done hanging a stand, after getting patterns established. Needless to say, it was a tad windy. No rain yet but sky looks like it could open up any minute. Heading out now to a different spot, that has produced good results from a northwest wind. Good luck all!
  13. Bumped into many deer, this am.. First time this year. Enjoyed the lunar eclipse from the stand until a cloud bank blocked out the total on me. Enjoyed the usual deer coming into the oak woods.
  14. I use wood stain in the deep groves of the stag knife handles. I have to use a very light stain to obtain the results I want. I did find out that bone will stain differently, just like woods do.
  15. Congrats! Ton of credit to you harvesting him with a bow and arrow. Quite an accomplishment.
  16. Serious business there. Hope for a speedy recovery. Your health is far more important than deer hunting.
  17. Got into the stand. Lightning flashing, raining, and I'm sitting in a lightning rod called an oak tree. Mind you, the heal marks show where the tree has been struck once, several years ago. I asked myself, do I need to be sitting in this tree?
  18. and can't forget hubby too. You got one above me. Where does the time go?
  19. Nice morning sit before the rain hit a 7:10. Decided to leave the arrows in the quiver this morning and gain some MRA. Quite a bit of communication going on between doe and buck right now, here. I'd say breeding will begin in a week, judging by what I saw, if this weather holds.
