Live weight vs Hanging "gutted" weight
landtracdeerhunter replied to Hunting4u's topic in Deer Hunting
I'd say the bones left in along with a considerable amount of fat and membrane. -
Thought u were talking about these, LOL

This is why I prefer an above ground service entrance line. Their are so many more problems with a below ground, and the cost of repair, can hit rooftop. The craze today is below ground, but I'm still old fashion, LOL. SP

buck forage oats question
landtracdeerhunter replied to yukonhunter's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
The Fall grasses lose their nutrients quickly. and become less palatable. The fresh young protein, carbohydrates , mineral rich oat grass fills the void. It's a + here for feed value alone. I have increase yearly acreage to now, 3. At a cost of about $12 / acre, it the most valued on my list, aside of the radish,(LOL) at the cost of $ 48 / acre for seed. Edit: Winter wheat is also a favorite. Oat ground doesn't need to be worked as fine. They can be "roughed in" and still produce well. -
Page 15 is of intrest to me. Since 2005, about 45% of hunter report their harvest. Jump 2 years ahead, reporting rate is much higher, or when the old paper tags were used.

No, that's Chuck Testa, LOL. That was one big game tag in the first video. -
Maybe other cities in this country will learn by Detroit's mistakes, LOLLLLLLLLL.

buck forage oats question
landtracdeerhunter replied to yukonhunter's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
First week of September here for planting. Let me put it this way, oats are just below the Daikon Radish, on the " To Plant List." Great source of nutrition! -
Nice finishing touch. Yes someone has to ask. Can we see pics of the rest of the cabin?

Hillary is a person, that's going places. She did a great job running the Commission on Health Care Reform in this country, under old "MonaBill" Look at all she did for NY. while she was Senator. Then the record amount of traveling she did as Secertary of State, screwing things up royally abroad. I'm telling ya, she's a lady that gets things done, LOL.

Pics from around the Farm
landtracdeerhunter replied to WesternNY's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
You have some nice color in the plantings, rich green. That corn is some of the nicest I've seen around. Nice to have desert, with supper, LOL. -
Nice deer, very near perfect poses. I'm kind of amazed how poorly the soybeans looked in the earlier pic, and how well they have bounced back in less than 2 weeks..

Facial hair makes me itch. My misses dislikes it. It pricks her face, and it make me look old!

Live weight vs Hanging "gutted" weight

The only thing I question, is the edible meat. An 80# dressed out deer will never yield 45# of meat. No way! -

Did a super nice job! Congrats on the out come. Making your own product just gives that extra special feeling. I got to get going on my hides. -
Live weight vs Hanging "gutted" weight

Assume this chart is of bone meat. Have never reached these figures boned out. And believe me, I take every last ounce of meat, LOL. Edit: A fatty doe meat output is going to be less than a buck. -

Where are you going to put the deer? -
Amen to Southern Zone bow opener! From what I've seen, should be some excellent hunting this year, and it all starts October 1st. Chewing at the bit, LOL.

I personally think a deer cart would be handier than ...... for some situations. It's on my , to do list to make.
