  1. Got to get a 3rd job so I can go out and spend $800 on my big game- small game and bow license. Any extra money, I'll buy a beer for my friends, LOL. Happy Hour- Draft only, no bottles. $98 adds up quick every year. Edit: ISU.
  2. Yes, it's that time of the year again for the Empire Farm Days.August 6, 7, 8 th 2013 at the Rodman Lott & Sons Farms; Seneca Falls, NY. Largest farm show in the Northeast. This year starts a new era, a new " Outdoor Sporting Center. Equipment sales and demos from big names such as Savage Arms, Bulldog, Winchester, Browning, Nikon Optics, and more. Check out www.empirefarmdays.com for more info.
  3. Get those Daikon Radish in third week of August. Plenty of time but I like to summer fallow the ground to combat weed problems naturally.
  4. Be careful on that ice water. Dropping the body temp to quickly can lead to serious head gasket problems, LOL.
  5. Yes that does help. I also run my white T shirt , hat and hair under cold tap water before heading out to bale hay. My cloths are soaked anyways when finished. Get the cooling effect of evaporation on he body. They say it's not the heat, it's the humidity. I can a test to that.
  6. LOL. My grandson takes my turkey decoys. and alot of my calls home. He drives his mother nuts with that turkey locator, LOL. He's taking and intrest at a very early age, and I have no plans to curve his intrests.
  7. The "Bugs" have been just terrible this year. Believe it may have something to do with all the moisture. The little B'S land and bite right between the shoulder blades as I regroup in the shade. By the way thunder shower happening as I speak, adding to more. Glad the first field of hay is in the barn. Saw a nice yearling buck feeding on clover regrowth just 15 minutes ago. A reminder of 2 wood stands that still have to be relocated, and awe yes, that cardboard stand,( thank you very much, LOL) that will be built during bow season, the way I'm going this year.
  8. I give you a lot of credit WNY, and admire your motivation. Anything to improve a hunting property is 100% step in the right direction. Already off to a great start.
  9. Very important topic, so should it be pinned. Now should one vote the 25 Republicans out in favor of the Safe Act and vote in MORE Liberal Democrats? Kind of a lose - lose situation isn't it!
  10. I like to use the method of planting alfalfa in a field for several years to control these pest. Hope u can find a successful method for control. One of the constant battles in growing.
  11. Congrats. My son and DIL named their son Fair Chase.
  12. The way Clarance is building up, I would think twice about using rifle for anything.
  13. Several cherries to a cluster. Never have seen this tree so full. Eating them right on the tractor seat, LOL.
  14. Here, the raspberries and black caps are just starting to ripen nicely. The cherries are abundant and nice flavor. The deer ate my blueberries off at the ground. They also came up to to the house and ate my Horse Chestnuts off. With all the other sweets they have to choose from, LOL. Farmers here are harvesting a nice pea crop. Perfect weather for peas this year. I planted pumpkins on the manure pile, which was the only dry spot on the place. Make the grand kids happy at Halloween, Their thriving there. I'll take some pics of the cherries in the p.m., when I go knock some hay down.
  15. Backtags are for identification purposes. They were implemented for this purpose. Have used the numbers off the back for prosecution once. It only takes one situation to appreciation their use. I support their existence and believe they should continue to be used in the Southern Zone.
  16. Their is a bill introduced as of April 1, 2013 for the elimination of wearing back tags in NY. Bill # A6466-2013 AND S90-2013 which was refered to Environmental Conservation at that time. Not sure where the bill is right now.
  17. Their won't be the damage, one would expect pigs to do. Not like southern states are experiencing. Their spread over many square miles and the small numbers don't support the damage u see in southern states with much higher concentration. I remember members, on this site that have seen and shot pigs in NY. Their is no question, their here. I question whether banning hog hunting preserves in NY will be effective however, as it seems to be to little to late.
  18. Come on down....... Your the next contestant on the new " Piss My Neighbor Off" show. LOL.
  19. I've got Kiwi trees on mine. How do you rate?, LOL.
  20. Good year for fruit here, so far. No hail damage. ( Don't want to speak to loud, LOL) Maybe apple prices will be a little more affordable this year. Peach prices are always high, maybe because the trees are more difficult to take care of. NYS produces some of the best tasting fruit in the world! FYI: It's raining here,.......... again.
  21. Either way, it's still a nice one.
  22. Hope everything works out for the good. Seems like they always come out about 2 in the morning. Makes for a longgggg wait. Good luck!
