Politic discussions are like stirring a bees nest. Your bound to get stung, lol. -

Got to say, that's one nice stud. He's a smart one, for sure to get that big. Going to be a challenge to get a poke at him, hope you do, especially a bow kill. Know your tag won't be filled with some of the earlier buck pics u showed, right away, lol. When u grab a hold of a rack like that, pinch yourself, think your in heaven, lol. -
Obama's way of thinking . . .

I don't care what color a president is, if hes got good policy, and moves this country forward, I'll vote for him. What has this president done in his term, to move this country forward? We've taken several steps back. Deerthug, totally agree. That's a socialist platform, and Obama is moving socialism forward, all he can. -
Great news. Congrats.

at least in this area. Saw 3 hens with 13 poults last eve. Poults are 1/2 size of the moms. That's more then I've seen in last 5 years. How's other areas fairing?

Huge buck... Holy crap? Saw this on FB

Nice mature animal. Seems strange to see in the open now. -
Plot update pics, corn & mixed plot.
landtracdeerhunter replied to burmjohn's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
Nothing like your own fresh pick sweet corn. Taste all the better on a dry year. Just planted a few rows of 65 day. If we get a late frost like last year, might get corn. Planting more for deer forage. -
Congrats to Adam. Very nice and hope to see a pic mounted. What was the gross score?
-
Doc, do they even send surveys out to get some feel on numbers? Never have heard of any. Think this stuff is invented to give employees work. Maybe they have to many employees?

Like the post fasteddie. Writer is stating terms used on hunting shows. Most of those terms are used here on site. What's the problem?
-
Got 2 words for the original poster, good luck. Been fighting with this problem for years. Can post all these solutions, but to live through it, whole nother story.

We'll have to say, the local TC did have a small hunting section. Pretty much picked over for deer hunting supplies. They were loaded with deer corn, feeds; mineral licks, and attractants. Must figure, a lot of people hunting out of state. Manager did say, have more stock coming next. They had a lot of seed, but none I wanted.

How hard you going to hit early October mornings SZ?
landtracdeerhunter replied to phade's topic in Bow Hunting
Mark me as spot on. Been waiting years for a October 1st opener. Finally happening. God willing, I'll be in stand mornings, evenings, or whenever I can 11 weeks of deer season, bring it on! Have to fit turkey season in there somehow, lol. Just keeps getting better. -
Does yours have hunting products? Our 2 TC stores in area have very little in the way of hunting anything.

Always enjoy this time of the year. Get the warm days, and the crisp cool nights. Doesn't do the tomatoes any good though. They have sat their all summer green, due to lack of moisture, now vines are blighting.
-
Still setting stands, lol. Seems like every stand completion fuels the fire that much more.
-
Nice deer, thanks for posting.

I use a little fletching wheel mounted on a small motor. Have to be very careful not to cut the feather base. Like to put the work to the wheel rather then bring the tool to the work, as it hard to hold and grind. Have a couple to do, still in the freezer from few years back. I have also picked Borax up at Dollar Tree, but don't have it all the time Some of theirs is lumpy sometimes, but powders ok; little conservative on price too.

Bought one of these fed mandated cans, spilled gas all over, went to take it back- defective, said no return because it had gas in it. Go figure. Do new diesel can offer this ventless feature?

do you need . . .
landtracdeerhunter replied to Paula's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
Can't really say if What I'm doing is increasing body weight, as we have a good amount of ag. in the area. I can tell u we have a doe, fawn, number increase, from second cutting hay- late deer season. This really help with buck movement during deer season, nothing like a real decoy in field. The food plots are planted with goodies farmers don't plant in this area. I t really does make a difference, when farmer food sources dry up. I should also include that I get just as much rush with planting, as hunting, success in my plantings is just frosting on the cake. Guess maybe, u have to be ag. oriented to understand last, lol. -
Know exactly what u mean. Think the feds. did it again, stuck their noses in something and destroyed it, lol. It wasn't just because of fumes, it was also on static electricity, risk of fire, on the steel cans, maybe plastic too. So instead of that risk, now u have more due to spillage. I garage sale hunt for the old cans. Suprising what great shape some of them are.

plot update...
landtracdeerhunter replied to growalot's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
Pav2704: Don't doubt that one bit, had similar results. Deer for miles must zero in,lol. Grow, Trying the radish too, with sugar beet and turnip mix. Seed wasn't to much $ at local feed. Yesterday, one end of the property got wet, while raking hay at the other. Sure been weather weird, since last winter. -

Is this normal planting dates for u because of elevation? I'm moving up a week or so on planting, because of the year. Think spacing the plantings a tad, not putting eggs in one basket, lol. Don't trust mom nature, especially this year. Could be another Oct. snow in the making. -
Bill, hope everything comes out good for u. Sounds like your right on top will arrow practice. Like to practice 8:30 eves, and doing more out of ground blind, sitting. Want to be ready what mom nature throws, and not trusting her this year, lol. We seem to harvest our best deer out of some worst weather. Everything is a month ahead this year, corn being no exception. It needs a certain amount of growing degree days to mature, and we got them this year, lol. A lot of corn is in it's final stages. The silage corn is already coming off here. The grain corn is going to be early also. Their were some fields, hay harvested first, that went into corn, so they will be later. I'm thrilled for the Oct. 1st opener. A little uncertainty as to the early opener feel, but sure to adjust very quickly. We are down near 50 degree this morn, fall feel already. Is the weather a month earlier too, time will tell.
