  1. We don't have EAB yet, but we do have, I believe is called, ash die back. Moss grows on the trunk, and the lower limbs die. Only some ash are affected where others are untouched.
  2. Legal shooting time for turkey hunting is 1/2 hour before sunrise till noon in YOUR area. On darker days, it may be legal to shoot, but not safe to. Have to use your best judgement. I've had turkeys come in to shooting distance at legal shooting time, but light conditions saved their life. It's stays pretty dark on cloudy days in some of the woods hunted this time of the year. With sunny days, looking into the woods can be pretty tough at certain times too.
  3. Doc brings up a very good point, as Wisconsin has a 100 yard min. for discharge of a weapon near structures. They also define it as a building devoted to human occupancy. Ref: WI DNR.
  4. Great to see more grouse around. Yep, the males were drumming Sunday here too. Got some one audio while taping hen turkeys yelling their heads off.
  5. The only reason that I asked was because, predators will take the unhatched eggs and clean out the insides. That egg does look like it hatched because the inner membrane looks rolled up inside I believe the hatched poult will feed on the egg shell, until it is strong enough to leave with the mother.
  6. Pretty cool find I've seen hatched shells in the nest, but just tiny pieces. Do u thing maybe a predator carried it there?
  7. Early is right on the money. I had it backwards in my first post. Not enough air in the tank, waterlogged. Drain water from the tank to introduce air in the top. Some systems have an air valve in the top of the tank to add air. Be sure to drain water first. Happens to my parents system sometimes. If system wasn't primmed, pump would run all the time without shutting off.
  8. I like it Eddie. That buck is growin some antlers. That tree stand might come in handy there if he stays.
  9. Eddie, won't work as a guest either. Try downloading again.
  10. Just when you think figured these turkeys out, bamb everything changes. Don't think their is any clear cut answer for your question. Found out, don't be afraid to try new things. I been aggressive calling the last 2 days. Read where hunters call to much, we'll you're never know it this morning the way I called. The woods full of hens yelling. Got to be a good thing with real decoys. Good luck and go get'em.
  11. Few shots this morning, but not out of my gun. Spent 6 hours out in the woods. Going to plow a field today, so I'll hunt it tomorrow. Maybe the crawlers in the plow ground will pull some longbeards out. When I planted my field corn 2 years back, had turkeys walking all over it.
  12. Sometimes the shortest stories come out with the best results, congrats on a great season.
  13. Camo dip would be cool. Nice job.
  14. That does sound good. Rest of the red wine would go good with the dinner too. Does the tomato sauce take the gamey taste away?
  15. So how are the trees doing, that were planted? I put in several dozen red oaks, hickory, transplant and everyone is greening. Planted back in January and wasn't sure about it. Still waiting on my Mulberry and Chestnut. Getting late.
  16. We have it. Seems to like lighter acid soils better the way it grows here, but I could be wrong on that. Doesn't spread all that well either, at least in this area. The other thing that seems strange, the berries hang there, sometimes all winter into the next spring, nothing eats them. Don't think ours has thorns. 17. Congrats on the harvest. Nice bird and a great choice of weapons used.
  18. Gotta say that's the oldest bird I've seen takened out of the wild too. Congrats on a very special harvest. It's hard to believe, that turkey could go through 8 seasons, and still be in such good shape. Must have some great habitat where you got him. Are you thinking of a full mount?
  19. Lets face facts. In the real world, their are always going to be different types of people with different beliefs. People are going to believe in what they can except in their own minds and what makes them comfortable. I will give people the respect in their way of thinking, if they will return that respect in mine. These days, it's getting tougher to even feel someone out, without stepping on their toes. Really doesn't even matter the subject content. Hunting is always going to be a sore subject with some people. We as hunters, have to stand united, and strongly believe in our effort, for we'll never fall in our quest.
  20. I believe that other states have excepted the fact that the wild hog is going to be with them, being the numbers have exploded, so why not hunt them as a game animal and generate revenue. Seem to be a good control measure, not just on the animal, but on the hunter too. New Yorks numbers are still rather low, and their approach to eliminate them is still within reach. Come the day, hopefully we never see it, that hog numbers in NY ever explode, I'm sure you're see the same as CA. is doing. I just would like to see an official stance in the hunting guide.Something to go by, if indeed it is such a problem, as they say it is.. Like they did with CWD.
  21. Guess that little kitty didn't get them, opps bobcat lol. Now get better, so you can get there and make the harvest.
