    Was planning the bow this year like last, but now that the snow's on the ground; quick ran out and got my muzzleloader permit. All the deer I've been seeing are 100 yards and better.

    Take a good look around you at Mother Nature while deer hunting. She has a lot to teach if you are willing to learn.

    Our coyote population has exploded here. Must be a good year. We will do our best to hang some fur.

    Do any of these these gutter cleaning people bring any kind of a liability disclaimer with them?

    I don't worry about gutter cleaning any more. All my gutters got ripped off by the ice going off the roof years ago. I suppose one day before one side heads for China and the other towards the sky, I'll replace them. Oh hell, be easier just to sell the place, lol.

    Damascus knives are great. Stag handles with brass bolsters and pommel are my favorite. Damascus twist are a really special looking knife. Damascus tend to rust easier, due to the high carbon. I store mine out of the sheaths and coat with peanut oil, every so often.

    We have a recipe using mashed potato. We also make zucchini tomato pie. How about german potato pie, southern style. Goes great with lots of home made bread.

    Grabbed a blind out of a foot of creek water early Sunday. The turkey and ruffled grouse were really going to town.

    Well, weathers are calling for up to 2 1/2" of rainfall here today, with up to 2" of wet snow tonight. Flood watches up for a large area of the state. April showers bring May flowers, if they don't wash out in the process. Just like walking on a wet sponge here.

    Got out between the raindrops this morning with two fair to nice right and left drops, They lie one and two years there. That makes three, maybe three hours looking. Not an antler from this season yet. Glad I wore the waders as ditches are running full. The autumn oliver is leafing; clover and grasses are growing. Deer look skinny here. No post pics until all stones are turned.

    I found the Federal shells shot about that same way out of a Remington 20 gauge Jellyhead. I like the weight of a 20 walking a mile and a half in.

    I like to use different sounds once the birds come in to see what kind of a reaction. Usually, they just stop and look out of the side of their heads. The jakes will sometime bump into the hens, with a peck reaction back. Had one hen, most likely the dominate, get after other hens chasing the others with warning sounds including the jake. Their is something to learn in every encounter.

    Natural vocals. Hunt out of a tent so movement isn't an issue.

    I can bring in hens galore, and a jake or two. Never a tom. They always hang up.

    IDK, they hit it pretty close most of the time. We had over an inch of rain between last night and this morning. Now, wind gust up over 50 mph. as forcasted. Lights are flickering. Getting ready for lights out, again.

    Reading grow's post; here is another thought about buying a tractor. If it is going to be used for food plotting and purchased with the backhoe option; how easy is it to remove the backhoe and convert back to 3 point hitch implements. Ground clearance is also something to consider. Most all backhoes are subframe today. Some have very little ground clearance with the subframe brackets installed.

    I remember when Kubota started back in the 70"s, people said the same thing. What is a Kubota,? LOL. With tractor interest rates so low, as well as the warranty manufactures offer; It really doesn't make sense to buy used in this size tractor; unless it's a real buy. Little warranty as well as higher interest rates make up the difference.

    Glad everyone doesn't think the same way or New York State would fall far shorter than it already does for record deer. Not entering your P&Y bucks helps in that respect.

    Cograt's on the new Kioti. purchase. I will tell you that I use to sell Kioti. I sold quite a few DK40's and a few 45's in the day which they call  the DK4510 now. They had a mechanical shuttle verses the hydraulic one.  Manuel shuttles have a greater operator error percentage, why Kioti went to the hydraulic feature.

      Thanks. I remembered you used to sell them, and would have contacted you about it if you werent so far away. We have a dealer about 15 mins from us, so I figured I might get better service response from them if I purchased the tractor there. Im really looking forward to getting the tractor and putting it to work. Should be perfect for what I do. The 95hp JD the farm owns is just too big for alot of what we end up doing with it.

    Fiberglass hammer and ax handles can also become a problem. use nothing but hickory.

    I also forgot to mention a little experiment with different flavors this season; butter, bacon,cinnamon, smoke and good old traditional maple with a spike of honey. Was a lot of fun working the flavors and learned a lot. I made some venison maple smoke sausage. The maple sweeten the sausage with a little maple flavor. Goes great with buckwheat pancakes and waffles.
