  1. Quite a few old timers have lost their head gear already, which in my opinion means stress. My shed hunting has already started with one in hand, so far. Buck fawn showings all season, but now have entered the red willow thickets with intense eating, while more mature are still field eating radish, grasses protected , opening up areas in the 7 inch snow pack. Corn and soybean fields are being visited, with little eating. Groups of 3 and 4 hanging together, while flocking has not entered their minds, of tougher winters past. Deer all have good body mass, so far. Doe had heavier fat reserves; time will tell.
  2. I Transit Road is accident prone all the way to the city line. The extended 45 zone north of Tonawanda Creek didn't seem to help. Redesign is the only answer.
  3. The "New York Outdoor News" is my favorite read these days, and yes; just for the stories, LOL.
  4. I lean toward the GFCI circuit breakers if the line is dedicated to GFCI circuit. Use can use standard receptacles which need to be clearly marked. Far less mechanical parts to fail . A 15 amp breaker can be picked up for $40 retail and very easy to install if you know your way in a panel box. The inspectors I get, prefer this installation.
  5. The key to enforcement of the law is for citizens to report those that break it. Just the threat of getting caught should deter some that break it. For the few others that insist on shooting deer after hours; a nice reward $ could be an answer to deter a few more.
  6. Good for you. Those boots dryers are the nuts. Mine never gets hot and the boots are never stiff like air drying.
  7. Merry Christmas. May the spirit of giving fill your hearts. Was in checkout line in Walmart yesterday and a guy in front of me was a little short on cash for bottled water. I handed him a 5 and he just wouldn't take it; so I handed it to the cashier. It felt good to help someone.
  8. We had a lot of standing corn going into 2nd week of firearm season on the western side of the state. Time will tell if this had an influence in deer harvest numbers. I know a lot of antlerless permits were still available at the time muzzleloader season started in our area. Hunter pressure back way off at muzzle start and were were seeing this then. Nice to pass these bucks so they have a chance to mature more.
  9. Shed season comes early for some. Good luck in looking and success.
  10. I wonder when New York will try to make bird feeders and feeding illegal? Maybe they should issue a $15.00 permit like the fee imposed on everything else. Be a good money maker for the state, and just think of the fines they could collect from it?
  11. I also have a bird feeder in my large back yard. Chuck full of of birdseed, crack corn, deer fat and everything else birds like. In feeding, birds throw seed on the ground; ( little poachers) I shovel around the feeder when it snows. I get some turkeys when the snow get's deep on the level. When the snow goes away, so do the turkey. I always like to see them wing in.
  12. I drilled my breech plug out on my Inline and ended the miss fire with Blackhorn 209.
  13. If those round bales were baled, net wrapped, and still on the field in the original drop spot since September, do you think it's a sin? Been quite the year for haying. I feel bad, LOL.
  14. I will enjoy the last day of deer hunting just as well as I have enjoyed the first. Should of, would of, could of is not an option though and never will be in my mind. I enjoy deer season to dam much to ever ruin it with that train of thought.
  15. Some nice detailing on those calls. Fine job whoever made'm. Brake'm in right and please post pics in May.
  16. Was planning the bow this year like last, but now that the snow's on the ground; quick ran out and got my muzzleloader permit. All the deer I've been seeing are 100 yards and better.
  17. Take a good look around you at Mother Nature while deer hunting. She has a lot to teach if you are willing to learn.
  18. Our coyote population has exploded here. Must be a good year. We will do our best to hang some fur.
  19. Do any of these these gutter cleaning people bring any kind of a liability disclaimer with them?
  20. I don't worry about gutter cleaning any more. All my gutters got ripped off by the ice going off the roof years ago. I suppose one day before one side heads for China and the other towards the sky, I'll replace them. Oh hell, be easier just to sell the place, lol.
  21. I see the Covert still taking some fine pictures.
  22. Damascus knives are great. Stag handles with brass bolsters and pommel are my favorite. Damascus twist are a really special looking knife. Damascus tend to rust easier, due to the high carbon. I store mine out of the sheaths and coat with peanut oil, every so often.
  23. We have a recipe using mashed potato. We also make zucchini tomato pie. How about german potato pie, southern style. Goes great with lots of home made bread.
