Impact Implaments
landtracdeerhunter replied to Woodjr55's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
The problem with these ATV disc are they always throw the soils out and nothing to bring the soil back. They need another gang on the rear. They also need more weight so they cut in make a decent seed bed. The problem is that takes power and weight to pull with the notched disc. -
Nice job wooly . Have you thought about fixed blade or folding knife handles for those fine works of art?

We will just stay home and watch the Super Bowl on youtube. I heard the footballs didn't get deflated this year.

If you were closer to me, it would be sold. The iron alone is worth more; getting the pans free.

Now don't put all the blame on Mr. Cuomo. The state senate and assembly are just as bad. -

That golden rod area will be pretty high in nutrients the first year, as it was fallow land. Could be slightly on the acid side due to the spruce though. Good corn land. -
Some construction critisism. The problem with their disc: it throws the soil out but doesn't bring it back. Need another gang on the back in reverse order to the front. Just watched a Camco rep. put the disc together on Youtube.

I have soil tests done out to as much as three years on expensive crops. On my deer plantings, I never do. I can tell what the soils are lacking by plant inspection. Growing recommendation for specific plants is a good guideline to follow. -
Good luck on your success. In time you"ll feel better and your family will surely thank you.

Non the least, it's a great effort on your part. Row crop studies do agree, that many plants do preform better under row crop conditions. Different soil types have to be handle variety of ways. Management practices have change so much, since I took coarses many years ago. -

I can see your point Dom. When I use no til, I bring that term with me from a 43 year history with farm equipment manufactures and dealers. Many large scale farmers are actually using the practice of min till today. They loosen the surface with some sort of disc or chisel device, then plant. Some no till certain years, if soil condition warrants. -

Allis 333 no till large seed planters used different sprocket sizes on their fert. drive transmission to determine the rate of flow They also had different size augers in their fert. hoppers for high fert rates. I also remember different size sprockets on their seed drive which used a blower and right size plastic dics for size seed used. I also have an old Allis 3 point hitch grain drill that speeds and slow rotation by gears for seed drop. I'm quite surprised no company ever came out with a remote hydraulic drive system back when this equipment was new. I still have owners manuals on this equipment. -

Congrats. I know you and your family with enjoy. Good luck! -
I agree, gun safety. Also a respect for wildlife, along with that. I see many adults that don't practice or don't even care.

You really do capture some great pics Wooly. Truly, an artist with the camera. I always enjoy seeing them. Have been seeing several fox on the run over the coarse of ten days or so here. Seemed a little early for the breeding season then. In fact, quite a bit of animal activity with deer ,weasel, mink, squirrel, rabbit, grouse, woodcock, robins and other native birds. Wildlife look good, so far this winter. I see areas of grass greenery in some thicker brush with new deer tracts showing in the mud, on my travels. Found a big boy shed there two years ago. Hope you have shed success this season. Good luck.

Don't Judge UpChuck Schumer

Funny and sad. This government official is big choice voted in by "majority" of the people in New York. Doesn't say much for the majority in this state, does it. -
I don't have very good views on government intervention. Their past track record speaks for itself.

A lot of these common grains the mills sell are only one or two years past certified. The bigger farms plant all certified seed. These grains will grow just as good as certified.
