  1. I upgraded just before last season to a bowtech. I'll probably stick with this for awhile as it's reliable and comfortable for me. Three things would motivate me to look for another one: game changing new gadget, mechanical failure, or getting a wicked deal that I just can't pass up. I already have a crossbow, and only get out 3-5 times with the vertical bow.
  2. Congrats on the new pup! Pink eyes... Albino?
  3. You never cease to amaze me with the things you do..
  4. Bringing this pizza dip to a neighbors party:
  5. It's on my radar.. whether or not I can make it will depend on the when and where ( assuming my wife doesn't over book me )..
  6. Do you recall how you seasoned it? This was ok, but not awesome. I used 50:50 pork to venison, sage, salt, pepper, Maple and blueberries..
  7. Working on Maple blueberry breakfast sausage!
  8. Thanks again for the tip Nomad!
  9. So the growlers were buy one get one, and every purchase of that one in the middle came with a commemoative good and bottle opener.. I couldn't say no!
  10. 2 for 1 growlers at brew pub today?? I'm working in the city and may have to swing by! The 12 horse is pretty good and I'm curious about the stout. Also following for the get together.
  11. Interestingly there are only app. 1,000 residents in Hancock.. yet they have 20,000 signatures.
  12. Looks like a nice property! I'm passing along to a buddy who might be interested.
  13. I've done a little reading up on this. From what I can tell, it seems like there were pigs on ranches that escaped. Once in the woods, the wild population took off. Now there are lots of pigs running around. It sounds like there are a few counties where you cannot hunt them because the game commission is trying various erradication efforts. Otherwise it seems or a free for all. I'd love to get down there for a self guided public land hunt. I could easily determine which counties to avoid. I'm just trying to figure out the other stuff, like when, how and what to look for.
  14. There was an executive order signed by the PA Game Commissioner removing the protection status on feral swine and permitting licensed hunters the freedom to hunt them in any number. I tried to upload a copy but it wouldn't load. The existence of such an order seems to imply that there is a problematic wild population.
  15. Has anyone here tried a self guided PA public land hog hunt? I'm intrigued by the idea. I've looked into (Google searched) this and mostly find info on ranches. These ranches all seem to have a similar model. They have a few hundred acres stocked with 'wild' boar. Your guide will tell you which one to shoot based on how much you want to spend. Prices start around $600 for a management pig, and that's before cleaning or cutting. Almost everything about this is unappealing to me, but I can't find much material on public land hunts. I'm looking for thoughts on where I might have some success, what to look for, etc...

  17. This was part of my argument for having 8 kids. With 8 or so running around, you'd have a kid for the laundry, one for the dishes, one to clean up after the dog, the big ones watch the little ones, etc... The wife just laughed at me...
  18. Cleaning the drain isn't fun. But I would choose that every time over picking up after the dog when the snow starts to melt. My dog isn't big, but the entire winter's worth of poop makes for a pretty shitty chore.
  19. Gsp's are really good dogs. We had one, but it had too much energy for my wife. We ended up finding him a better home with more land to run around. If anyone is looking for something to read, there is a pretty good article about squirrel hunting with dogs in the new issue of game and fish. It spotlights curs and feists.
