How often do you check your Trail Cams?
Bolt action replied to Northcountryman's topic in Trail Camera Pictures
My hunting spot is about 45 minutes away. I try to get over there ever 3 or 4 weeks to check on things and swap cards. -
skinny-atlas Enjoy the trip.

Problem is these scumbags know it's just a slap on the wrist if they get caught, so they're not deterred. But, if you hit them with a bat, they can file charges against you. They've got nothing to lose...

^^^ what he said.

Looks like a great spot! How're you planning on getting the roof on? Just a thought on the chair (assuming you're still looking) - an old office chair works great. swivels and has the adjustable seat. I found one on Craigslist for free. It's comfy, quiet, and can't beat the price.

Count me in! Team 4.

No idea. Haven't seen anything from him in awhile. May be a seasonal user?

@Biz-R-OWorld doesn't see any bucks, settles for a doe. His dad shows him up with an 8pt. Both from the ground. @Buckmaster7600 trails a stud for 87 miles through the ADK's. Crosses 5 streams and 3 mountains in the process. Kills respectable buck. Carries it out on his shoulders. @dinorocks kills 7 deer. Uses bones to make new table and chairs for the cabin.

Couple new pics from this mornings pull. Nice to see at least a few decent fellas made it through...

I think I saw that, for parts of the season, it's down to 2 birds. If I'm not mistaken, it was 3 last year for the same time frames. I read an article awhile back that contributed this to a decreased migratory population. Resident birds are everywhere, but the migratory ones have had a few rough years. Based on that, the DEC is lowering bag limits to help the population a bit. Don't ask me how they determine residency status v. migratory though.

Goose hunting can be a lot of fun and doesn't have to be a huge investment. I've used camo that I already have and would hide in the cat tails up in Braddock Bay. I put out a few dekes, but usually just got lucky on flyby's. With the lower bag limits during parts of the season, it's become a lot of work getting in and out and setup when you can only shoot 2 birds.

20.75 from nock to balance point.

Diamond provider bow, victory decimator arrows, 100 gr heads, 175 gr extra weight up front. 29 inches on .350 spine with 65 lb draw weight.
-
Grouping is good.. there must be a Kevlar plate in there somewhere if I'm getting penetration on one side but not the other
-
I've got to think it's the target. Great penetration on one side, terrible on the other. The target is a buck commander bag target.
-
I didn't paper tune or bare shaft tune or nock tune.
-
29 dl and about 65lbs DW. L tell you it really has me scratching my head. There is not much drop, and the arrows seem to fly like missiles.
-
So this is really interesting to me.. my arrow setup is about 525 total weight on a.350 spine. I was expecting better penetration, but I'm actually seeing arrows hit the target and bounce off at 25 yds. Standard field points. They drive about half way through the target at 15yds. At 25 though, in getting about an inch at best.

Nice rig! I dig the wood look on the inside. Let me know if you have any questions. I bought a similar unit in 2018 so may be able to help. Just remember, pull the black lever before the gray lever!
-
Nice looking plot. It's hard to tell, but I think I can count at least 4 solid bucks in that pic. Should be a good spot for you in the fall.
-
Feeling good at 15... Need to extend the range to shoot the 25 and 35.

Checked the cams this morning. Not a ton of traffic. A few decent bucks. Kind if interesting though that probably half of the bucks on cam only have half a rack. In one case the other side is there but underdeveloped, but in the others there is nothing at all on the one side. I know I had a big deer walking around last year that was unbalanced but i figured he had damage to that side. now i'm starting to think it might be something in the genes.
