NY's Future Under A Fracking Ban
ncountry replied to Mr VJP's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
I look at it this way. . ..Is everyone that could be negatively effected well compensated for their risk? However small it may be... Once an accident happens, there are no take backs... And it is basically a 100% certainty that one will occur given enough time..... If I was the landowner looking to make a fortune off fracking rights I would be poed.. If , like me I had a small piece of property with a nice stream and springs that I planned on passing down to the next generation I am pleased... -
Sounds good.. Can you post a link? I cannot find it.

border patrol checkpoints

Oh no, I think she went about it all wrong...like I said her manners and attitude suck. Still not a reason to get tazered. Hell if they talked to me before I had my coffee in the am I would be tazered daily... I have been bitching and voting accordingly ever since our response to 9/11. I am afraid to see what it will be like in another generation or 2. -
border patrol checkpoints

Actually made me lol.. I am sure a tazer probably doesn't leave much of a lasting injury or mark... If you are comfortable living in a society that is slowly eroding our basic rights. That is fine.. I'm not.. We shouldn't have to make excuses.. if she was just more polite or if you don't have anything to hide, it's easy just go along with the flow.. Unfortunately I think those that think like me are rapidly disappearing. Society would rather be told what to do then take any self responsibility. -
Yes, a 6- 6.5' medium action pole with 8-10# test has served me we well for just about everything..Personally I have always preferred the longer rod to facilitate a longer cast. Maybe an ultra light pole for going after crappie, panfish, and trout. Now a days I do most of my fishing out of a boat on small lakes and rivers. if I could only have 3 lures it would be a 5" salt impregnated senco type worm, white spinner bait, and a 3" black curly tailed jig. If I could only have one it probably would be the white spinner bait. Or a hook and use live bait for the foolproof method.

Need a few more details. Fish species you may go after, in a boat, from the shore, etc.? I have spent a lot of time fishing, no clue if it is done the way It is supposed to be done , but I catch fish and have fun

You hear the old timers tell tales about being able to walk across the rivers on the backs of spawning fish...Now, thanks to a great restocking program it may be possible again..Lol The DEC is posted in this spot 24 hrs a day for the peak of this run to prevent some of our local outlaws from ruining it.

1/16 ounce jigs and the little 1 1/2" salted tube jigs from bass pro seems to work well.

border patrol checkpoints
ncountry replied to ncountry's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
Yeap, probably.. A chance one takes living in a free society.. If they took all the guns away and watched us 24/7 we probably would be safer.. Not the direction I personally would like to see our society go. -
border patrol checkpoints
ncountry replied to ncountry's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
And yours isn't?? I am sure both officers are great people in their everyday life and they are doing the best they can with the training they're given..... It wouldn't have taken a brilliant person to have talked the situation down...Absolutely no excuse, imho, for it to have gone that far.. -
border patrol checkpoints
ncountry replied to ncountry's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
She is a young girl, if he isn't good enough to restrain her without the use of a tazer he doesn't deserve his job... I thought when we became adults we had certain freedoms... Imho, Too many people say just shut up an do what you are told... We are "free" Americans , not sheep... Although we are rapidly becoming used to becoming subservient. -
border patrol checkpoints

The BP are sitting around everywhere up here. Heck, they are sitting in our little "village" of Morley ,15 miles south of the border,at least a couple times a week. Stop looks to be at rt 37 where the access rd. to Iroquois dam is. I recognize the spot well because I have spent a lot of time fishing in the bays you can access from it.. I would have to agree her attitude sucks, but there is still 0 reason that it escalated that far. If that was my daughter and I was there(after telling her to be quiet myself) I would definitely be in jail. Every time I get stopped at these checkpoints I have to suck it up and keep my mouth closed(I'm not rich enough to get out of trouble) Where do I live? where am I going ?for how long?....? None of their dam business... GRRRR.. Oh but I do feel protected against all those dam terrorists streaming across the border. What a joke. Meanwhile 30 mile NE the Mohawks are smuggling millions if not a billion dollars worth of drugs ,untaxed cigarettes , and illegal aliens. across the border every year.. -
This is what happens when you try to stand up for your rights... Just a few miles away... I have been stopped and harassed dozens of times at the same spot.. I always held my tongue though. https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=884263721635146&id=100001545789884&refsrc=http%3A%2F%2Fnorthcountrynow.com%2Fnews%2Fsuny-canton-criminal-justice-student-tased-border-checkpoint-after-refusing-trunk-search-resist&_rdr&refid=9#_=_

Yes Crappie are delicious!!!! I returned the pike to the "sea" . I just started fishing them a lot the last few years... I haven't figured their patterns out yet... As you can see I was anxious to get to fishing, I didn't even finish re-decking and carpeting the boat before putting her in the water for the year..lol..
-
. Oh yeah. I forgot about the 30" pike today... He was a fight on my ultra light rod with4# test...
-
Anybody make it out and catch any.?. I caught around 40 this weekend. Played hooky today and could only catch 7. Had a hard time keeping the jigs away from the bass ..lol They were everywhere. Maybe better luck this weekend..

Situation in Baltimore
ncountry replied to ELMER J. FUDD's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
Well... Put that way , it sounds like a good time...lol -
I think they have there place.. One spot I hunt is a 3.5 mile in on a wheeler and then a 1 mile walk or so to where I like to hunt.. I have walked the whole thing often , Definitely not worth the effort just for a morning or night hunt.. imo. A real bitch when carrying a stand. Cannot imagine dragging a deer out from back there. The last one I shot back there , the hair was 1/2 wore off just dragging it to the wheeler. lol

Bah! Wouldn't be my 1st concussion...I think...I cannot really remember...lol

I think sometimes we can get carried away with putting a deer down to end its suffering. Sometime late spring we had a local dog get loose and actually caught a deer in my driveway . Someone saw it and chased the dog off and called the DEC. When the officer arrived there was a lot of blood and remnants of ears.. They tracked deer for a while to put it down but never found it.. Earlier this week I see her out in the field eating with some others. no ears... none..poor girl.. To top it off it is the same doe I have numerous pics and video of that has her fawns and basically lives in and around my yard for a month every year. She is easily recognized by her twisted and I assume previously broken leg . I think I will probably let her live if she passes me in my stand again , she is one tough, albeit funny looking cookie now.
-
I know it is how nature works , but that is always sad to see.. I feel cursed and lucky in my home area.. We have a fairly low deer population and there are 100s of acres of "woods" . The local woods consists of cedar, brush and trees where the maximum line of sight is 30 yds if you find a little lane or trail.. We have cut cedar for leaves and posts for 30+ years and it is still growing faster than we cut it..

Living in a rural community and having a kid in the school system, it wouldn't bother me at all... Hunting and guns are a part of everyday life..Now in an urban setting it may make me think twice.. Only reason I can think of to hang a gun on a rack would be to look cool or make a statement. I might question their judgement.. There was a day when that guy with the gun in his truck might have been able to save lives.. Now you would have to be nuts to think you might help the situation... You are going to get shot .

So do you think NYS will expand the crossbow season
ncountry replied to MACHINIST's topic in CrossBow Hunting
Kinda scary.
