  1. Nice! I'm not being a smart@$$, how do you know he is the same deer? To my untrained eyes I don't see the distinguishing signs..
  2. Immigration reform is just another way to throw money and resources into the wind. Imo.. untill we get rid if the demand they will come , no matter how high we build the fence or patrol the border.... Local farms are over run with immigrants now.. guess what our population is doing that worked these jobs in the past. Sitting on their @$$ getting welfare and making meth.. Americans are too good these days to do manual labor..
  3. Imo, there are those that definitely shouldn't hunt with a 22 250.. Those same people probably aren't that much better off with an " elephant" gun though...lol... For many , the 22 250 is a perfectly good gun for the job , as long as the proper bullets are used..
  4. If you have ever raised or owned horses it just seems wrong to eat one.. Similar to eating a cat or dog... I have no problems with it , but wouldn't try it myself...
  5. 22-250 is very effective on deer . My gf shoots one. It is very unforgiving on poor shots. Even good shots leave poor blood trails. I would limit myself to closer range ,-100 yds, just so you know EXACTLY where the deer ran. Me....I like my elephant gun. I shoot it well ,and if I have a brain fart and don't, the deer is still found in less than 50 yds .
  6. Glad , you had a good time! I have seen more than one pole lost due to those dang cats..lol
  7. The red tail tells me it is probably a red tailed hawk. http://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/Red-tailed_Hawk/id
  8. I shoot a K&K vengeance maxed at 68#s .. A reputable bow tuner (Breathn) IBOed it at 338 fps after strings and tune. I'm shooting a 380 grain arrow + or- .Not sure what my actual arrow speed is with this set-up. Right at this point in time I am loving the rage extreme cut on contact heads.. I only have a little bit of experience with them so far 5 maybe 6 deer. Time will tell, us bowhunters have a hard time letting good enough, alone..
  9. I have never made it that far up the river.. Most of the river has fantastic small mouth fishing... Pay attention to where other boats go or don't go... It looks wide open but there are sholes everywhere...
  10. Many of us hunters up here have been complaining about plummeting deer #s for years... Most hunters seem to trust the DEC though and continued to harvest does as long as they were issued tags for them..By the time the state caught up ..It is going to take years to recover... Any complaints in the past was ussually answered withe .."that is purely anecdotal, trust us , we know what we are doing" Uh hu ....ok...
  11. http://northcountrynow.com/news/dec-proposes-reverse-declining-deer-turkey-populations-north-country-through-hunting-restrictio We will have to be careful or this is what will happen in the rest of the state..
  12. I do not have a lot of experience with them. There seems to be a lot of positive feedback though. I started out shooting the 2" grimreapers(didn't like their sharpness and penetration), and switched to the slick tricks. I shot one large doe with the st and it blew right through the lungs. Terrible blood trail for a double lung broadside shot. She was easy enough to find but I actually had to look fairly hard in spots to follow blood trail. Switched to the rage 2.5" extremes cut on contacts and except for the couple that I hit shoulders with have had complete pass throughs and a trail a blind man could follow. The broadheads stopped just short of passing through on the shoulder blade hit deer but still left a great blood trail.. Close to 100% of the rages were one and done. My thoughts are that any deer I have ever lost was due to the shot being too far back. I figure the larger hole will allow me a better chance to recover the deer on a dreaded bad shot.

    Trout season

Fish are wonderful creatures. Down in their own world. You can catch them surrounded by people or 50 miles from the nearest cell signal or black top road. lol I was actually pleasantly surprised when I ate one , they are delicious. I was actually expecting a taste closer to a salmon.

    Trout season

Headed for camp in Quebec this weekend. Maybe I can can catch my 1st lake trout. : ) This will be 3rd trip to our camp except for the mosquitoes it is a great time? Supposed to go down to high 20s friday night , maybe it will put them into hiding... Mosquitoes , not trout.. Lake trout fishing is a new game for me . I am accustomed to fishing in 1-15' of water. lol
  15. That sucks! Like wooly says, it is a great excuse to buy a new one or a "new" used one. When I bought a new bow 4 years ago my "skills" suddenly jumped. IMO the new equipment seems a lot easier to shoot accurately.

    #2 for 14

    Was he ever aged?
  17. An now we don't have any deer .. it was buck only in 6f? i think. In the areas that are overpopulated i like the earn a buck tag idea. if I had to kill three does to get to a buck I would have 3 in the freezer before Nov1st fersure.....lol
  18. Foolishly probably , it does not keep me up at night. We should be vigilant, stop what we can, and smash those with a big hammer that get through. Getting in a tizzy and letting loose on our restrictions is what got us to where we are.
  19. Sounds great. Again in theory.. I also despise our welfare system. Having worked 98% of my adult life and as an employer paid piles of money into the unemployment system, I am not as down on unemployment. It was handy for the period that I needed it. If we worship at the feet of big business we will be in just as bad of a situation.
  20. I do not believe you..lol.. Honestly?.... You actualy used the "if you don't not have anything to hide " argument? really? I do/did not believe you would go against your own values just because you do not like or trust a group. Though, I am sure any of the reason you listed could be put to work as an excuse to enter. It is done everyday to "regular" Americans when someone deems it necessary. You and I would both rail against this i would think. It is interesting when debating topics like this. It is all about perspective... Anything can be justified given the proper perspective.
  21. Glad you are ok, grow. I had something similar , but partially self inflicted happen years ago... I was in the middle of a 68 cougar restore.. being a typical 20 something guy I had to take it for a little spin down the road... So I throw a crate on the floor , voila a seat in the stripped out interior.. I hit the end of the driveway and punched it... A perfect storm follows.Lol.. throttle sticks wide open, I fall back off my basket. Dragging myself back upright with the steering wheel. I try to reach the keys to turn it off and that's when I reached a fast enough speed that the unlatched hood blows up into the windshield.. Luckily I reach the keys, shove my head out the window and get her pulled over before crashing....pretty funny now but down right scary at the time...
  22. Unfortunately I would have to put big business and government in the same category. Untrustworthy.. I guess, I would have to lean towards the one that, at least in theory, should be doing our wishes.
  23. Wouldn't you be leading the protest against violations of our rights, if this was a christian or just plain old American militia compound?
