  1. The only advantage to a hunt on a 2000 acre preserve is the deer you want is in there, and if your not looking for a specfic deer there are most likely multpile deer in that horn class 140's or 150's there in an unnaturally occurring abundance. Big bucks do not put up with each other and I'm sure mature breeder bucks are separated or.horns cut off to prevent injury to each other. That is why I. Can't call any fenced hunt fair chase. Yes I have hunted fenced preserves (won. On a raffle for hog and redstag) and I will say this the whitetail that were in the enclosure did their best to avoid the hunter and "guide" in the pen even though other species were being sought after. But if we were hunting them the challah get would.not of been the same as a wild fair chase hunt.

    bachelor groups

Yes they are back together and have been since muzzleloader season by me.
  3. Idiot to post it. Breaking law yes and the support her had Dr om community shows how common something like this is. Know a guy who's kid shot 2 deer on youth weekend ,posTed it on fb. Was ignorant of law ,told him he better learn the laws, should I ov turned him in maybe. Idk I like to believe that it was unintentional and won't happen again, why punish the child, teach them they were wrong and if it happens again I would turn him in. I know they eat them so it wasn't a trophy hunt by any means.
  4. As much as experiance as a head coach weighs in . New head coaches in the NFL come in from somewhere,we need a qb coach and offense cordinator who could get along and use our defensive cordinator. To rehash a questionable coach gets old we tried that for previous coaches. Last one was ok but from college. So? I don't know if it's the coaching or quality of players a coach has to work with... isn't that what we are hoping for we have better players for Ryan to use? Idk I'd rather start with a new coach and build a team with him.I've waited 15 years what's 1 or two more... still need god qb even good back up qb and some mo r s tr egnth on o line, not to mention our rb's are not getting younger....
  5. Here is one thing every one seems to have missed, if bucks are off limits and you can only hunt doe, what happens in areas of no, or low doe tags? You would not be able to hunt at,all and for, areas where doe tas are plentiful how long before the population would crash there as well? To sit and say it wouldn't effect your hunting or wouldn't change your hunting is a fallacy. You would have to travel to find a spot where doe existed, to hunt at all ! There are a lot more hunters than there are deer taken every year... the entire northern region would be closed for hunting as would much of the catskills. So if bucks were made illegal hunting would collapse as a whole. Regardless of if you like horns or not. That is,another problem with ar's if you remove bucks from harvest more pressure put on doe (if they are avaliable to shoot)so you are forced to become a trophy hunter,or move to hunt in a high doe populating area (soon to be closed to doe hunting as popul as ton drops) or give up or change the way you hunt.
  6. That 3 system pellet stove sounds like a wise choice. Corn can be found if pellets are hard to find.
  7. I agree with pygmy 1 year and up to 2. Remember they are usually.born in spring so by second hunting season are 1.5 or older depending when they were born april,may,june....accoring to the dictionary an animal such as a horse between 1 and 2 years old
  8. Try looking in ohio for used I picked up a older Barnett for 100 bucks. They have used then for 20 years now and lots of used available. Internet is good place to start.get away from the price gouging in ny
  9. Looks like denver is done as well. And they looked awful
  10. The way they both moved the ball I would bet money on it and I don't bet....
  11. Had he tucked the ball away and they scored,gb still would of had lot of time and fg would of won it...
  12. I have shot over 100 deer, and honestly getting one isn't hard,I've gone from gun to bow to black powider to black powder pistol. I look for an older buck to hunt and enjoy tracking them. My friends call me a deer magnet,I like to think I have better woodsman ship skills than most I know. I still shoot doe and donate them to camp members who want meat. But every year I hunt less but hunt smarter. My enjoyment comes from getting new people involved in hunting. I do not feel a rush or excitement killing any deer anymore.but I do when I see a person get their first buck, doe or fawn. Why do I still go out to hope to find that rush in taking something bigger than I've ever seen or gotten. If they had no antlers I would hunt much less and eventually stop.the young hunters I've taught are killing on their own and can only hunt weekends. The partner I hunt with is gaining age and will not be around forever. Hunting 60 days,a season will be long behind me. I once read an article where hunters evolve thru stages from needing to get a deer to getting a deer with a certain equipment,to a method, to looking for a trophy,to teaching/mentoring. Some or all stages can be reached in one's life or you may stop at,a stage. The problem is the media has most wanting to bypass the first couple of stages and wanting to start at trophy. Imo it takes a long time and effort to reach a stage where your woodsman ship reaches a point that taking a trophy becomes possible. Media show hunters taking great bucks they don't show they are only one on 400 acres.
  13. Always use a good forester and explain you want a wildlife plan not a timber harvest plan. This is biggest error people make and they end up hygrading their woods. If I could do one thing different it would be to start buying property earlier than I did. Didn't need flashy cars and big stero when I was younger should of invested in property...
  14. they are great trees if you can find them.b they do not flower till July and produce sweet nuts every year.chestnuts were considered weed trees by farmers for their, ability to grow every where. They prefer a slightly acid soil and wI'll grow 3 to 5 ft a year once established. I would fence or tree tube them as deer will brouse on them.
  15. Earliest will be 2016 season when new, management plan is,due. Only thing I would like to see are smaller wmu's

    Ground Blind's

They just did a study on this can't find the link. Seems round were less picked up. Makes sense as a reflection/refraction no matter how well brushed in is different off a flat wall.vs a curved... I'll keep.looking for the article /link
  17. It all depends how it is advertised, a cord is 4ftx8 4 ft deep or 3 face cord of 16 in x 4 x 8. Most wood is sold.by facecord around here and length must be specified.

    ice conditions

Cuba, harwood, and case lake have 3-5 inches of ice now. Few huts on cuba some cracks from wind but frozen.
  19. I agree with joe, most hunters who are pushing the trophy management do not have a clue about population density, habitat creation. manipulating genetics and letting em grow old is all they get out of a seminar. If you have the right habitat you will see deer. The properties will be conducive to allowing deer to reach an older age regardless of what you do. I know I can't see further than 50 yards on over 100 acres I own and am asked how we take 15-20 deer a year off the property. It's managed for it! We take a few big ones and a few little ones with the focus on adult doe harvest. The bucks just come and stay due to habitat, and lack of harassment.
  20. I pattern at 30,and out to max range about 65 yards with #4. The gun shoots so tight that under 40 i need a sight. I use a reddot .at 20 yards the pattern is 6 inches. Custom barrel and jugged choke.
  21. I would stop, maybe not at first,i'd try with a spear if it was legal. But yes I would stop. Since man painted on caves he has persued horns, to make tools, shelters, ect. He didn't paint many doe on walls but big racks there are quite a few whether harvested or dreamed about.
  22. You can have mixed burger but everyone seems to use pork, used a new butcher 1x and he used pork, burger was tasting funny after about 8 months, I tend to keep meat a long time as its just me and I put several in the freezer. Butcher friend said no fat or beef suet and I never have had an issue since. The reserch I've done since really does support it.

  24. You can Google it, pork fat only lasts 6 months in a freezer.. most gamey venison I've eaten is in a venison burger in july that was mixed with pork...
